To be fair, you do have to do really poorly. Well, that's how it seems anyways. I'm not quite sure what the trigger is either. Like doing stuff half the match, but then you can't seem to do much of anything after and "poof" nothing. It might be linked to shooting, definitely not to getting shot at, you could run around and die the entire match and you will indeed get nothing. I never would of found out if I didn't have the most incredibly lopsided match I'd ever had over a month ago. Was Diamond vs Bronze level of lopsided. I want to test more, but it would be better if Bungle would just say what it is instead. Because me testing just makes team mates angry, for obvious reasons.
