Keep in mind the synonym for sex was hijacked by postmodernists. They will interpret your use of the term differently than those rejecting postmodernism. Postmodernists will claim gender and sex should never have been nor ever be synonyms. This claim has not yet been properly substantiated when presented to me. I, myself, understand gender and sex to be synonymous. I am open to the concept of three genders/sexes. One being male, another being female, and the last being neuter. Neuter would be assigned to those possessing abnormal genitalia AND abnormal chromosomal arrangement rendering male-female identification extremely difficult or impossible. I've noticed some people throwing around academic articles supporting their own claims. Let us consider the following paper published in an academic peer reviewed social sciences journal and was admitted by the authors to be a hoax after it was published. It is nothing more than buzzwords strung together. There are even programs developed to RANDOMLY GENERATE these postmodern articles. These computer generated papers have also been submitted and published in peer reviewed journals, much to the journal's humiliation. Hell, during my undergrad, we were assigned to critique peer reviewed articles. The exercise was meant to make students aware of the publishing flaws in academia. My undergrad degree is a B.S. in microbiology with a food safety minor. We found articles that should not have been published, published in academic peer reviewed journals. Admittedly, the exercise was part of what turned me off from academia. It is not nearly as prestigious as I was told. During my time as an undergrad I observed just how incestuous academia has become. Academia, as an institution, no longer encourages independent thought nor critical assessment. The institution's current intended purpose is to impose conformation to their mold. A mold meant to romanticise collectivist ideologies such as socialism, sexism, racism, perverse (modern) liberalism, etc. Collective identity is encouraged while individual identity is discouraged. Liberty cannot be achieved through collectivism because your being is chained to the collective whole.[/spoiler] That's the end of my rant. I often wonder why people will go out of their way to debate such trivial subjects that ultimately don't matter in the end, especially when there are usually more important issues of the day. Just my thoughts.

Genuine question - why do you people upvote threads like this? It's +15 right now, which means at least 14 people saw this and went "aww yeah this is a good thread"

But science has proved that gender is a sliding scale and therefore there are multiple genders. Bill Nye says so. 'Cuz science and stuff.

We all get gender is a social construct but lets remember, Gender has been viewed as male and female for HUNDREDS of years. All this trans/cis/etc is still relatively new. My family would say theres 2, my grandparents would say theres 2, and so on, and so on. No, you cannot say they were ignorant, because thats how it was. Are you going to say they were wrong? Based on -blam!-in what? Just stop.

But what if, biological, someone is born trans? It is however rare.

For me it's just Male Female and Trans. Anything else does not exist because that is just a bunch of BS imo.
