So I was playing a strike earlier, and there was one guy in particular that needed to be reported. He just runs through everything to leave everyone else to fight. He doesn't participate in almost anything. He just dances during the entire boss fight, giving us at least 4 wipes.
Basically, he is someone who forces others to carry his sorry a** through strikes. Whenever I see a player do this, it just infuriates me because either A, I stay in the strike to carry the guy, or B, I leave and go through matchmaking and a whole new strike praying I don't get a similar person on my team.
I reported the guy, but I just want to know if anything is ever done about this? Can people ever get punished for this behavior? It always seems like nothing is ever done about these Pacifist/AFK players because they are everywhere.

Bearbeitet von Chevytruck: 1/14/2018 7:12:18 AMWhen someone runs past ads. I kill everything. When they pull me forward i sit down and read a book. Then the hate messages start coming. I reply with a you didn't help me . Its pay back time. Report all you want , bungie won't do anything about it. Been doing this for 3 years never a thing done about it either. Or i will pick up relic at the end and sit down with it . Cant kill boss without it ha ha bitches.

1 AntwortenThe only parts i run past =everything in the infinite forest. And the exploder thralls part in savathun's strike. And i almost always solo the boss by doing 80% of its health either by arcstrider or multiple celestial nighthawk shots.

I would leave if a tool was doing that when I was on a strike. I'd rather do it again than give him/her the carry.

Ahh the joy of playing with people online.. Just take your time.. Usually the A.D.D. dumb asses just die trying to run through all the enemies. And when they do, just frustrate them back by taking all the time in the world killing every enemy. Nothing frustrates them back like having to sit there for 30 seconds, while waiting to respawn, all the way back from where they started.. And pull the same bull shit back on them when don't help with the boss fight. Just blow youself with your rocket launcher rite in front of them. They usually don't last long once they realize your not going to do everything for them. Or they just can't hop through all the enemies on their own, because eventually they have to stop and fight to progress alone..

Bearbeitet von Austin_St_Kloud: 1/14/2018 4:12:05 AMActually for Strikes, you don’t have to fight through the infinite forest. I will run with others if they take off/ I will stay and slay if they want to kill. But if I’m running with clan members- we run through infinite forest to get to the boss. *BUT we sweep only after the boss is dead

4 AntwortenShit is fun though.

1 AntwortenQuite a few of these guys, these days tbh. That’s what we get when they give a reward for participation.

Really don't think you could've done more than you already had. Bungie won't do anything about it either because for all they know it's just some kid that doesn't know any better. Honestly I'd just leave if it upset me as much as it does you. Rather redo a strike than waste 15 to 20 minutes handing out a free lunch.

8 AntwortenGod forbid someone doesn't play the game the same exact way as you 🙄 The only thing I'd agree with you about is if they aren't pulling their weight at the boss, that's bs.
-
They should have the same as some of the heroic adventures where certain enemies need to be killed before allowing further progress.

Bearbeitet von Meownotone: 1/13/2018 4:41:56 PMIn my experience, it hardly ever pays off: I usually run Strikes with the only person on my list that will still play this game, so we're stuck having a random third. We do often get the speedrunning type as our third, but it gets to a point where the speedrunner reaches a part where there are too many enemies to run through, and my friend and I end up catching up anyway, playing the Strike as I assume is intended way: Clearing ads and proceeding.
-
If you enter said strike with the mindset it’s being Solo’d from the start and change your play style, you’ll be alright. If you don’t feel like doing that then just leave, block em, and relaunch strikes.

3 AntwortenMost of these strikes are designed to run through anyway. Think about the nightfall. The timer pushes you to go as fast as you can, thus making running the most efficient method. I understand that the player not pulling their weight on a boss fight is bs. But don’t be mad at players for running through a strike, that’s Bungie’s fault for designing the strike that way. Why fight crowds of ads when you can run through them and go straight to the boss? If anyone needs a rat king, you have to finish a nightfall with 5 minutes left anyway. The timer is the issue, as well as the design flaw.

Bearbeitet von mxgreg: 1/12/2018 8:51:06 PMSounds like you picked up the orb and sat there and doing nothing. Or wasted a bunch of time clearing sections you can run through and pissed the other person off. Killing the 1st tank, or not standing on the plates when required, etc. I know I don't want to sit there and kill every single add and hand hold other people every single strike, so yeah run ahead and go get a drink, let people have fun wasting time. Or run ahead and die, so they respawn with you. Although I never intentionally sabotage the boss fight. That doesn't do anyone any good. If you want to clear every single add and drag strikes out to 18-20 minutes form a fireteam. I try to go with the flow. If someone runs forward I try to go with them or lay down cover fire. If someone is new I try to clear a few more adds than normal. But part of the fun is trying to run through some section. Having a high kill count doesn't mean you carried someone. You might have been carried by the person that was taking care of all the objectives while you sat there wasting bullets. Ultimately do what is fun. Support your team or leave the match. D2 is all about leaving matches for some reason

29 AntwortenSpeed running strikes Is a selfish move and makes you look like a prick. The only thing this game has going for it is the gun play, as the loot might as well be useless. Running past enemies and your squad doesn't even give you a significant lead, it just slows your other 2 team mates down.
-
There are a couple of points in each strike where a single runner can't run past on his own. He either brings the others forward or you all wipe and begin again at the last checkpoint. So, if you have an obnoxious runner, hang back. Do the opposite of what he does. If he doesn't participate at the boss, simply report/block him and leave.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von toneDef Weary: 1/12/2018 5:12:27 PMRan into one of these types the other night while playing with my brother in my fire-team. Noticed he kept doing nothing all the way up to the boss, mini-bosses included. Saw him sitting in a corner in the boss room while my brother and I got the boss about half way down. We mutually decided to dance and sit till the other guy decided to pull a little weight in the fight. I know this isn't something everyone will have the time or patience for, but my bro and I had a laugh riot doing it. He kept trying to hide in a corner, I'd go over and dance and bring the enemies till he died, then I'd dance till I died. Needless to say, he eventually gave in and helped to finish off the boss. I have no problem with those who want to speed run, and will try to keep up when I get grouped with them. It's another story when someone just wants to be carried through because they are lazy.

4 AntwortenBearbeitet von DoctorZeuss77: 1/12/2018 3:45:32 AMOn one hand, it is irritating when you get selfish players who do what you mentioned. On the other, I personally see it as a fun challenge to carry more weight in the strike. I’d honestly do the strikes(all types except Nightfall) solo if there was a solo option available. Anyways, when that unfortunately happens, try to see it as a bit of a challenge and a moment for your badass side to shine. That’s what I do, and I end up having fun with it. Just don’t forget to report them while laughing at the end-of-activity stat summary screen. Edit: Forgot to mention that it works for both types of players you’re addressing. When dealing with AFKers then just go through as you normally would. When you’re dealt speed-runners or “pacifists” who intentionally don’t pull their own weight then play at your own pace, especially if your pace is a slow, grueling, kill-every-enemy-because-OCD kind of pace. :)

1 AntwortenYou shouldn't need some skrub to help you with a strike. They're all easy as hell to solo.

Happened to me once. I left. Rematched with the same guy. I leave again. Get rematched with him again.

8 AntwortenNo one wants to take MORE time to grind out yet another strike. Why stop and kill anything you don't have to? And as someone else said, you can pull your fireteam up to a point, saving time and doing everyone a favor.
-
7 Antwortencould be due to the nightfall timer too. Guys are practising speed running for when its a nightfall strike. I am not a fan of the timer on the nightfall but you have to adapt this play style to complete some nightfalls were you just pass 90% enemy to finish the strike in time.

8 AntwortenBearbeitet von joey big guns: 1/12/2018 4:30:16 PMNew burger at my favorite place named in your honor, WhataScrub. Strikes are -blam!-ing easy. If you can deal go patrol. Form a team of bangers who want to take their sweet as time running a strike that should take 15 minutes or less.
