Honestly, I just do not see the point of doing it. With all of the armor being cosmetic only (no raid-specific perks) and some of the weapons being obtainable from Hawthorne, oh and lets not forget there being no "Prestige" weapons, I just do not see the point in doing it.
You can look at the past raids where we had weapons like Fatebringer, Vex Mythoclast, Genesis Chain, and Black Hammer. Along with great looking gear with RAID-SPECIFIC PERKS and it really shows how lackluster the Leviathan is in comparison. Ah, and the lack of bosses really kills the hype for me as well. Where we could've had a colosseum section where we face hordes of cabal and their hounds to test our might and impress Calus, we were completing puzzles. What happened there? Why did we go from the occasional puzzles that lead to a boss section in Destiny 1, to a raid full of puzzles and ONE boss? But these are just my opinions tbh.
Three things I hope Bungie takes into consideration into the future:
- Prestige raids should have special weapons and armor that are only obtainable within the raid with perks that can not only help in the raid, but in other activities (I.e. more heavy ammo dropping from cabal)
- More boss sections, IMO there should not be more puzzles than bosses. Extra puzzles can instead be used in finding hidden loot and potentially a raid exotic (similar to Outbreak Prime).
- Normal Raids should not have revive tokens. That should be kept for prestige mode specifically. Also there should not be a timer to revive someone, the only good this does is show who is the weakest link and who to kick. Member when you could be the last alive and could just barely complete the encounter? I member.
TL;DR: The raid is not as fun as the past ones, and its "prestige" version has little to no incentives for completing it. IMO
EDIT: Was not expecting to get this much attention tbh. Thanks everyone for the feedback!
EDIT 2: Lul I figured the TLDR was long so I made a smaller one.
EDIT (FINAL): Alright, I keep seeing people saying I should run the raid first before I make an opinion on it. I'm sorry, what part of "I do not see a point in doing it" are you unable to comprehend? I have done every raid in Destiny 1 and after watching numerous Youtubers and streamers run the raid (including the underbelly part) I legitimately do not see the point in doing it at all. Am I suddenly not allowed an opinion if I don't do X because you said so? LOL If that invalidates my opinion for you then so be it. Just know that others who have done the raid share this opinion as well.

8 AntwortenHere's what's wrong with Leviathan in a nutshell. - As you point out loot is complete garbage. Cosmetic only armor, guns that are just reskins or worse versions of other stuff you can get anywhere. No reason to want to do the raid for gear. - Tokens and loot keys are just annoying. Keys are fun once, but I'm not going to fetch a bunch of legendary engrams after I've beaten the raid, so after the first time I just started deleting them because it's a chore. - Waaaay overboard on mechanics, and very little relative focus on combat compared to other raids. - Mechanics require perfect timing and team coordination which is great if you have a team of hardcore players who spend a lot of time playing together but horrible for pick-up groups or carrying more casual friends. - Rehashed older unpopular encounters. Dogs is just Gorgons, but kill them. Baths is just Totems from KF. Gauntlet is, well, just really boring with not a lot of challenge once you understand the pattern. - Team wipe timer on deaths and revive tokens is just obnoxious for normal mode. This feels like a mechanic which should be reserved for hard mode. - Most annoyingly because the majority of the mechanics require a full team to complete, and we have team wipe on a single death there's no more room for those hero moments or clutch saves when you're outnumbered. Instead the heavy focus on mechanics just mean lots of chances to highlight your weakest link on the team. - Mechanics mean no room for much improvisation, meaning one basic strat for every encounter so at best it feels like you opened a combination lock which is not an epic event.

1 AntwortenWithout checkpoints our small clan struggle to keep 6 together long enough to finish. Because of this we never get the boss done. This means we cant get vendor and ad a result no Raid loot. Thanks. Awesome design. In D1 we could get boss drops, 'Park' it....then come back and finish. Now we have very little chance to finish.

Risk vs Reward vs Time Investment Minute for minute, I can earn more loot in the regular game than I can in the Raid. For me, the astethic look of the armor/weapons is not anything special or "cool", and the perks are no better than vanilla gear, so why waste time trying to get it. The "satisfaction" of completing the Raid, or any video game for that matter, isn't like a getting a promotion, pay raise, or any other achievement in the real world. Did the Raid once, just to check the box. My biggest problem with the Raid is the puzzles. Followed by a lack of narrative in the Raid. Complex, multifaceted problem solving without a tangible reward isn't fun. At the end of the day, I'd rather have a root canal, get HAPE again, or run the risk of decompression sickness than do this Raid again.

1 AntwortenIt’s ok, in the next expansion of “new content” bungie is bringing back the vault of glass is some way and there will be “new” weapons. They really are getting top dollar for such little content

Don’t sweat those “you need to play before you judge” people. What a joke. It’s a more complicated strike is all it is. Just takes more team effort and coordination and a modicum of skill. It’s massively time consuming to learn and all you get is some half useful gear that isn’t all that much then what you get elsewhere. (Argue all you want about “how good” the gear is, nothing worth the hours and multiple runs. There are no Gallys or Sleepers in this game) That whole you got to play it before you judge is just an ego stroke. People thinking their epeens are what validate themselves. The Raid is a joke. The only good thing about it and the gear is the lore around it. Leviathan Raid is the biggest joke activity in Destiny history.

2 AntwortenDid castellum, did dogs then found out that doing castellum again was actually part of the raid! WTF? Left and never been back. What a Mickey Mouse weak effort for an end game activity.

I respect your opinion and agree with you about prestige raid. I disagree about revive tokens though and the general mindset of "knowing who to kick". The tokens are great because infinite salvage mentality sorta destroyed the fun of the raids in d1, especially when vog got revamped. The timer is great too because it put this little bit of urgency to revive people instead of "watch this, hold my beer" which was funny and kinda awesome when that worked but got old around the 100th or so time it happened. Also kicking people shouldn't be based on simple -blam!- ups or weird, temporary, connection issues causing dumb shit to happen like getting yanked through the hurdles in the purple dimension or the hurdles straight up not showing up. Now if the person is intentionally throwing or being a straight up deadweight like not killing adds well enough even for a beginner level of expectation, then sure I guess. Expectations are a bit of a double standard for a lot of people, me included. Like if I have to lfg 1 or 2 people and they join I kind of expect them to know what's up especially if I specifically ask for experienced players. But on the other hand I have no problem spending upwards of three to four hours teaching a friend or clanmate who hasn't done it at all. Am I saying you're a terrible person for acting like this? Not necessarily. Just either we all need a little more patience or the groups that are way more than happy to help new players need a lot more recognition than what they may or may not be currently getting.

First raid I didn't do... And have no desire to ever do.
-
It's actually a really fun raid. The launcher is easily the best one in the game. The scout and sub are decent. The exotic shotgun is ridiculous. Get in there!
-
But those shaders!

2 AntwortenYeah.... I’m not even going to bother trying to do the Leviathan Raid because it doesn’t look like it would be any fun to do. It looks like it is about as much fun as stabbing my cock with a rusty nail.

Ive done the calus fight once just for the emblem, and thats it for me i have not touched the raid or destiny for almost 2 months now
-
I have not completed the raid, nor do I have any interest in completing it. D1 I always had he drive to complete each raid and each difficulty at least once. I even ran the sword (although not super at it) for crota. Overtime I lost the drive to complete Raids. I only got up to the boss for wrath of the machine, and never completed it. It would have bugged the shit out of me before, but now, oh well. I have been thinking about doing this raid, but will Probably wait until I’m over leveled and complete it then.
-
I watched when it dropped, wasn't impressed. If I was to do it, it would only be for the AR, and since I always use AR, I'd guess activision has bug to make sure I wouldn't get it for several raids. Final consideration?- not worth my time; the DO AR this week even surpasses the origin story imo
-
This "raid" is of no interest to even try. In my opinion this is not a real destiny raid just a gloryfied game show. The same goes for the nightfall. No interested in doing it. Forced speedruns is no fun at all. For the first time I skip 2 pve exotic quest because of these unfun game modes. ( rat king and the raid shotgun exotic) Give us a real raid and a real nightfall.

Bearbeitet von UltraCon79: 11/9/2017 5:50:05 PMEveryone I know played the raid once and decided the only thing worthwhile was shaders
-
Just can't be arsed with it. Don't help that it's broken and everyone can now glitch their way through it, and CLAIM they did it. D2 is just a little tired
-
4 AntwortenYour not missing anything it’s absolutely garbage, crota is better than this shit show
-
I did up to calus tried twice then said it’s just not worth it. Never looked back. Already 305 on all three. Why bother? The shaders aren’t so great.
-
1 AntwortenI haven’t even done the prestige raid because I well I don’t really care to wast me time to get a rare emblem and a different shader
-
Yeah, it's boring
-
that raid is challenging & fun and the gear is decent. revive tokens are in the game as you have no dedicated healer or tanks like in other games, you have subclasses that can do a bit but not dedicated. Furthermore ur from a clan that does not do it most likely an inactive clan which causes you to be salty trying to make an excuse u dont want to while fact is u cant do... The raid has no puzzles you imbecile if it has something then it is a labyrinth meant for the raid challenge which ppl can skip if they want to.
-
Once i saw there was no raid perk on my raid gear i was like "well time to find a new game to play." But yea theres no point in playing anymore 😞
-
I have an interest in the aura it gives so yeah... I do it but I’m not happy about it 😆 But I agree bad raid.... like cabal is the worst race and the whole raid is very bleh
-
I wanna do it but I can’t find good raiders, or enough people, so I’m stuck not doing it or some endgame content. So I’m like: Oh well. I’m stuck because all of my dependable raiding buddies are not playing Destiny anymore.
