Nintendo is still king!
I don't care if I sound like a fanboy now. I really don't. If you ask me Nintendo is still king. The fact that they released two masterpieces in one year with BOTW and Odyssey is insane. I'm 8 hours into Odyssey and it's already much better than any game I've played this gen aside from BOTW. How they managed to capture that same magic from Mario 64 and Ocarina again is insane.
These games don't change the way I look at Nintendo or their respective genres. They change the way I look at the medium as a whole. Nothing else this gen even Witcher come close to the magic i felt playing these games.

Say whatever you want about the big N but they’re always trying something different whether it sticks or not and I love them for it. Just look at their controllers for each console and compare them to borebox and plainstation.

I don't agree at all. The rate at which the pump out DS systems with little to no differences, the amount of games that have hardly changed for years, selling systems without charger cables to save on base cost (everyone has one so we can remove the charger cable), purposely releasing less systems to drive up demand, rereleasing systems most people that care about already have a hdd filled with games for. No Nintendo is far from a king.

2 good games after a years long drought of no third party support, inferior hardware, and re-hashing the same franchises since the 80’s hardly qualifies as Nintendo being “king” or still king for that matter. Yeah, they put out two solid games in a year...so?

49 AntwortenNintendo is such a dated company that milks their glory days to oblivion. Seriously, when was the last original game they made? It’s been nothing but Mario and the occasional Zelda. PlayStation has also released Horizon, Hellblade, Uncharted: Lost Legacy, and Nioh this year but I don’t see fanboy posts about that either

3 AntwortenI've been happy with my gaming laptop... the ONLY console I'm interested in getting is the Switch... I'll be looking for any deals that will be going on and seeing if that console is on sale. But I agree 100%, the switch is the only interesting console out right now.

Those are both amazing games. They're both simply fun in ways that a lot of games now aren't. That said, i don't think 2 great games make them the king.

2 AntwortenI purchased a switch a couple weeks after it launched. (I got lucky and came across one at target) and while this first year has had only a handful of titles. I completely agree with this post. Breath of the Wild is INCREDIBLE. And now Mario odyssey is INCREDIBLE as well. (IGN gave both games 10/10) To put it simply, Nintendo is killing it. P.s. not to mention any game that comes out across multiple consoles is automatically better on switch because you can play it ANYWHERE!!! I’m looking at you, Wolfenstein.

Sometimes I wonder why I don't sell my xbox and PlayStation and buy a Nintendo back again. I'm sick of most games coming out on these systems. Most are so disappointing and full of microtransactions and online crap.

I wish they would release their older games on Xbox One and PS4 though, I would happily drop cash to play the likes Mario Kart 64, Mario 64, F-Zero GX and many more with achievements or trophies.
