Being primarily a PC gamer I never got into Destiny although I sort of followed its progress. Since Destiny 2 came out I've paid attention to reviews, YouTubers and reading the forums to get an idea on whether I should hop on the train or not.
The feedback for Destiny 2 so far seems to be less than great although a common sentiment I see is that if you never played the original Destiny you may actually enjoy Destiny 2 and then there's always the hope that it will become the game everyone was looking for after some more updates/DLCs. I've been looking for an action RPG to play since I haven't played a decent one since The Division so I decided to buy it.
Played for the first time yesterday and right off the bat I can tell the production, music, voicing and graphics are top notch. I went through the beginning area assuming it would be totally linear and just getting me acclimated with story and controls. Made it to the first "open" area and I started getting the feeling that this game just appears to be.... shallow. I kept looking behind trees, down corridors, under here, over there and not once did I find anything to collect an explore. Seems all I am supposed to do is move to the next bad guy and keep killing. And thats fine, just an observation.
I realize I am early in the story but besides a couple times in the public events it seems you have to really mess up to die. I was just kind of face tanking everything as a hunter and just stabbing everything in the face pretty much one or two shotting everything. Does this change as the game goes on? Or is all of it this.... easy?
The last impression I have so far is character building/skills. I unlocked my first subclass, the Arcstrider, and the special is great and cool looking and fun but I went to apply my skill points and.... thats it? Do more trees unlock as it goes on? Seems once its all said and done, every Arcstrider will be the same as the next. One of my favorite parts of any RPG is making a "build". That doesn't seem to be much of a factor so far in this game so that was bit of a letdown.
All in all i've had fun because its something new but I can already see the game may be all bark no bite and might get played out quicker than expected. I truly hope I am wrong and will see what future holds but those are some initial impressions from a first timer. Thanks for reading.

Bearbeitet von Swiftlock: 10/26/2017 9:44:24 PMCompared to D1, D2 is extremely trimmed down in terms of building your character. It's almost laughable. In D1, the skill tree had far more options with how you could customize your build. Armor had randomly-generated stats that affected your cooldowns. Weapons had randomly generated perk rolls. This enabled re-playability so you could find the best possible combination of stats, perks, and gear to suit your needs. All of that is gone in D2, and now all of our equipment is just cookie-cutter items that we only need to find once with no real benefit to finding multiple copies. This was done because Bungie is obsessed with trying to balance PvP (which they still aren't doing properly). And you better be ready for dupes, because the token system WILL give you 10 identical copies of the same gun or piece of armor that you can break down for shards which have very little purpose. So yeah, you can guess why players feel the endgame comes off as unsatisfying.

1 AntwortenDestiny2 is like Cayde's stash, you finally find the chest and it's empty.

They did make the game easier. I think it was because of the endless "it's too hard" posts in D1, imo it wasn't THAT hard, but fine, at least the raid and prestige nightfall is a challenge. I agree on the skill trees. In D1 you could have several different builds per subclass. I have no idea why it turned to only 2 builds per subclass. Some build were extremely strong in D1, like viking funeral, but those would have been easy fixes. I agree with your concerns guardian. And I'm glad you're enjoying the game!
