Critiquing a constantly updated consumer product that you spent hard earned cash on is NOT TOXIC BEHAVIOR.
However gas lighting consumers and calling them "snowflakes", is.
I'm an American. And one constant I believe that is truly an American value is:
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
Destiny 2 is not living up to its $60 price tags at this moment, and consumers deserve a response from Bungie.
I still love the game world they have created, which is why I care enough to be apart of this community and speak up
Did you really use the "I am an American" line?

Snowflake

There's a fine line between critiquing something because you love it and want to see it succeed, or just bashing and hating because it's trendy. Quite frankly, I don't think many people on these forums want Destiny to get better, or would care if it did.
-
I 100% agree. However down votes, insults, threats to devs, calling for a loss of jobs and a general vitriol towards anything and everything is what goes on here. These are not critiques. That goes from both sides, hence, toxic.
-
What's toxic is the WAY people critique the game. You can give feedback and even express disappointment/outrage without being toxic.

Say it with me everybody!
CAPITALISM
So true. The game should be up to the standards of other games in similar price ranges, if not slightly higher to make up for the DLC's in D1 that were NOT worth £20-40. These new DLCs had better give us more than they're worth to make up for this.
-
The forums in general doesn't deserve to use the terms "constructive criticism" and "critiquing" and expect to be taken seriously. Literally every other post has to do with hating Destiny and something about Bungie being stupid, scam artists or evil.

1 AntwortenI've been on these forums for a decade now, and I can assure you, y'all is a bunch of toxic sunsabįtches.

9 AntwortenBearbeitet von KannibalKlown: 10/9/2017 5:23:16 PMDon’t know which forums you read But this one is filled with like if person Luke Smith should be fired like if deej should be fired like if cosmo should be fired you developers are lazy wtf is wrong with you we were scammed Luke Smith is fat This game can suck a soccer ball through a carbon nano tube That’s not critiquing. That’s toxic.

6 Antworten$60 ain't shit. Get a real job.
-
You're crying over $60. It's nothing, I spend more than that just going out to a movie.
-
You've got to adjust for inflation, see, a $60 game from 10 years ago and a $60 game today cost significantly different amounts of money to make as game developers have had to be paid more and the size and scope of AAA games has increased as well. So as a result, companies make much less now off a $60 game than they would of in the past using the same amount of effort/resources.
-
I personally believe anyone who complains about the game not having enough, or is too easy, etc just really really really loves the game. And that to me is ok.
-
5 AntwortenYour post is not toxic but there's also people who think the game is fine and people who understand the game will get better and will have more content So, if you give your opinion and then someone else disagrees and then you start hating on these people just because they don't agree with you, then you're toxic People have different taste and all voices should be heard and not just a few, we all paid the same price for this game, most of us are hard working people, we don't get shit for free so i feel you there
Destiny 2 is not living up to its $60 price tags at this moment
This is an opinion and should not be stated as a fact, that is the issue. I definitely have my concerns, and am all for constructive feedback to the developers, but I have got far less time/enjoyment from $60 games and still felt it was worth it. For example, I bought a physical copy of Horizon Zero Dawn on launch day for $60. The game was amazing and the graphics were beautiful, but I got the platinum trophy in about 12 hours and haven't played it since. I could have sold it back to gamestop for $30 or so, but I felt like it was worth $60. Value is in the eye of the beholder, but you can't say a movie isn't worth going to the theater for just because it doesn't live up to the level of the best movie you've ever watched.

Luckily the forums are and always will be a very small minority of the gamers who actually play the game. For every few hundred on here complaining there are millions playing the game who will never read or care about anything said on here. Im not saying they are happy with the game but more likely they just take it for what it is a very small poorly developed game that gives them a few hours of fun at every reset, they will then either live real lives or play something else until the next reset. But they will very very rarely read or care about anything on here.

3 AntwortenYou get what you pay for, is a saying not an American value.

What the hell have we come to? It’s getting to the point that the word “toxic” is being thrown around without thought, and unfortunately it’s just a new way to group up all criticism so they can be conveniently discarded. The Destiny community has always given helpful suggestions and ideas, since the Alpha of the 1st game. To only focus on the “toxicity” of your player base only suggests you weren’t really sincere in listening to anyone at all. It’s just another method to shame the community into doing things your way.

5 AntwortenIf someone is complaining about something without giving any constructive feedback of how to fix their problem then I would say they're being toxic to the community and just promoting negativity.
-
2 Antworten“Lol this game sucks” is toxic.

3 AntwortenBearbeitet von OGgiraffrey: 10/9/2017 8:00:58 PMI agree that giving constructive criticism is good. Now saying destiny 2 is a pile of poop made up of different animals feces isn't helpful. Sadly that's what a lot of people are saying (more or less). Constructive criticism is what helps games grow. Insulting it doesn't help it grow.
-
2 AntwortenLast time I went to the movies with my wife, I spent over sixty bucks (food at the theatre) and was there about two hours. I feel I've got my money out of destiny already and things will only get better. People need to play more than just destiny.
Critiquing a constantly updated consumer product that you spent hard earned cash on is NOT TOXIC BEHAVIOR.
This is correct... However if you critique the game via curse filled insults and yelling that is in fact toxic. In fact I would say it isn't really critiquing the game it is merely toxicity wearing a disguise and trying hide under the notion that it is a critique. Look at Slayerage's reddit post, that is a perfect example of a critique that is not toxic. It points out issues as well as offers possible solutions and doesn't throw insults and hate in between points. Most of the posts, not all mind you but most, I have seen on these forums are not that at all, they are at their core toxic and unhelpful.

8 AntwortenHow is it not living up to it 10 ish hours of single player? Yup. Story and blue quests Multi player? Yup. No selection so that sucks. But it’s there End game content? Sure. Raids. Strikes. Public events. Honestly it’s par for the course for AAA games
-
I have no problem with people who offer constructive criticism and ideas to improve the game. The people who are toxic are the ones who come in here complaining but not offering any solutions or fixes, the people who want things given to them, and the people who call for people like deej to be fired. Those people deserve all the hate they get. All just my opinion though
