I doubt anyone on the team will read this, and the title sounds sarcastic, but I just have to say thank you for making this quest. Last October, my close buddy killed himself, and I've been dealing with it, trying to grieve and deal with it, but it's not so easy. It eats away at me, missing him every day. When I booted up Destiny 2 and it showed my memories, the first time I did things with people, and TTK came up as me, my wife, and him, I almost cried. It hurt so badly. So when
Failsafe
says she was getting messaged from
her former team, and we had to go find the captain for her, to confirm he was dead,
it was painful. And at the end of the quest is when it hit me that, to me, this is the most valuable quest in the game, when she says
even when you know someone's gone, you try to imagine a world where they were still here, no matter how impossible.
I'm crying now, as I type this. Thank you for making this quest. Thank you for making me feel this pain more. It reminds me of him, and I value that very much.
Long time fan,
Anthony Thibault

Sorry for your loss bud, that sucks.
-
My condolences to you fellow guardian! I cried during the memories thing, I haven't cried like that in years.
-
I honestly think this quest was my favorite part of the game so far. The story was touching and really pulled me in.

That final line from Failsafe went right over my head when I played that mission but wow it's so depressingly true! Props to Bungie on that one. Sorry for your loss man. I haven't had the experience of losing a close friend to death but I've lost one in life. Simply put, they slowly became a different person that outwardly I recognize, but the inner individual is nearly gone. A part of me searches for traces of that old friend but I don't think they're still around. I hope you cope with your loss well man. Stay strong

5 AntwortenI never understood suicide, I'm 37 and still don't get it to this day, a good friend of mine that I knew since about 4th grade shot and killed himself because his wife cheated on him. I was just like "why", "especially over a girl" !! I have to admit that I was mad at him at first and called him and called him a coward but I'm not mad at him anymore, but I still think he was a coward

This is the most moving and amazing post post I've seen... anywhere, ever. Thank you. We all wish you the best.

Thank you for sharing you story. I'm sorry for your loss. It amazing how we can find solace in something like video games or movies. I'm glad you were able to find solace in something it's very difficult to find that sometimes. I hope you can use it to help you feel better when you're feeling down about your friend. Take care.

This ^ is why destiny is a game worth getting, the memories and moments you have. Almost no other game can do this.
-
Wow, gave me the chills reading. Well done OP. My heart goes out to you, his friends and family.

The quests concerning her squad mates were sad but her words were good to hear. It's one of the reasons she's my favorite npc thus far.
-
Sorry for your loss dude. I hope he is with you in spirit always.

Damn hunters chopping onions...

I have read this post and a fare share of replies. I am moved by both. I am sorry for your loss. Eyes up, guardian.

2 AntwortenDeath is an inevitability. The entire universe will die someday, this solar system long before that. What haunts is the void of remorse.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Goosebumps.

Wow, really well written. Ty for sharing that Guardian. Even when our friends and family pass, we must find the strength to persevere. Eyes up Guardian.

Won't mention names, but you're not the only Guardian here that's lost someone close to you. From one grieving Guardian to another, I hope you are doing well and recover. I can probably guess he meant a lot to you. Just know that I, along with hundreds of other Guardians, are here for you. Eyes, up Guardian.

You're awesome. My father committed suicide, and I know the pain, grief, and emptiness that suicide leaves in your heart. I am deeply sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing.

1 AntwortenI think this quest name is an ode to the poem O Captain. My Captain by Walt Whitman, who talks about the death of Abraham Lincoln. And I haven't played D2 yet so I'm not sure about the full contents of the quest but I can assume it's an allegory to the poem in general. Which is the beauty to poetry itself, the ability to connect to it, to feel the same emotions of the author. Though it was done in a video game, I think it's great that they still achieved the goal.
like I said I haven't played so I hope that this makes sense
Long time fan, Anthony Thibault
I lost one of my closest oldest best friends a few months back due to heart failure. He was still young and left behind 3 young girls. It broke my heart when I found out even more so when I learnt he died alone. Hold your head up and carry on with life, make your friend proud. It's hard but we only get this one life. So cherish the memories you have and make new ones , he's always with you in your heart.

I liked this quest too.

The flood of memories when something that connected us to those that are gone is always a powerful way to remember good times and appreciate the time we did get to spend with them. I know I appreciated that quest, for different reasons, but had a similar feeling at the end.
