This is a bit ridiculous in my eyes. Firstly, the Kekistani movement is intended as a joke. It's a parody of identity politics as a whole, and is absolutely not a hate group. It's a made-up ethnicity intended to be a substitute for an oppressed class. It's meant to parody the use of someone's race or oppressed class as a buffer for their argument, because in reality one's race, gender, or religion does not affect the credibility of their argument one bit. And yes, it parodies white supremacy just the same as it parodies social justice warriors.
I don't understand how this is in any way a "hate group." It's just a little 4chan injoke that grew way too big until the people memeing it forgot its original meaning.
Bungie, don't become one of these skittish developers that always bows down to overzealous political correctness. There's no need to censor or change your game because it might accidentally offend someone's politics. Us fans just want you to deliver a fun experience that's exactly as the developers intended. Sure, you can say that it's just one armor piece, but it's still substantial. It could have just as easily been that a beloved exotic was found to be "offensive" and had its visuals completely overhauled just to please angry politicals. I don't like this trend in gaming and I thought Bungie was better than this.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von Pundone: 9/13/2017 12:16:19 PMThe one armor set that I really enjoyed, has turned into the one that looks like the set you get from Devrim Kay (I think it's called the Wild Wood set). I feel like Hunters have very few good armor sets, and the one that everyone I know wears has now been converted to something that doesn't even seem resemble the stats. If having the word kek on a pair of gauntlets tainted the gauntlets, then the gauntlets tainted the name *Road Complex AA1*. If the name is tainted, then the rest of the gear set is tainted. If the gear set specific to Hunters is tainted, then Hunters are tainted. And if Hunters are tainted, then classes are tainted. If classes are tainted, then the game is tainted... It has occurred to me that Bungie's supposed "fix" wasn't enough for it to be truly a "fix." Even though it shouldn't have been considered a problem, as the word "fix" implies there was something that wasn't intended to be on those gauntlets. But clearly, it was placed on those gauntlets, but it was not placed with the intention of it resembling the kek we all know and love, even if kek is harmless or not. This scenario is very similar to that of students in school. In the sense of plagiarism. i.e. a lot of students may be given a similar research topic, over the years it is highly likely that two students share the same five words in a row, is that considered plagiarism? No. As the other's paper was not used as a reference point and it may or may not have been used to reference or point out a different statement. Same with kek, it may resemble a manufacturing company in Destiny, I don't know, but if Bungie starts to submit to misinterpreted politics, then they might as well remove the entire game as it now resembles kek. So please either restore the gear to once they were, with kek or no kek, I don't mind, or submit to the faint hearted and change or erase your beautiful game for the worse, but no matter what you do, you can never make everyone happy.

8 AntwortenIt was a hate group symbol lol stfu

26 AntwortenThe entire alt-right is a bunch of 4channers who spouted so much hateful troll bs that they started believing it themselves. What can start as a joke can end up as something much worse. That's what's happened with this whole mess, and it should definitely be taken seriously.
-
I don't think that bungie changing one hunter arm is about caving in or being bullied by the media. Maybe they just don't want to be associated in any way with an alt right view point. You can't go wrong with saying no to hate.
-
236 AntwortenI think it's great that Bungie has made it clear that all the alt right, kek chirping, intolerant dudes aren't welcome in Destiny. You can "troll" all you want but you will never be a part of the Destiny community in any official fashion. Love it. You're not welcome. Go away.

3 AntwortenI didn't even know this was a thing until now, but the fact that so many people are butt hurt about it maybe the change was deserved.

If you haven't taken the time to do research on the subject, maybe you should stfu.

5 AntwortenThe irony on show in some of the comments in this post is quite staggering. The word 'offensive' is an adjective that means causing someone to feel resentful, upset, or annoyed (taken directly from google). Bungie removed this armour because it resembles a symbol on a flag that white supremacist like to fly when out marching. It is their game and they can do what they like in it. The origins of the flag, or kek in general, are irrelevant, more just an interesting side note. Similar to how the origins of the swastika are irrelevant in the context of the fact it symbolises a group who exterminated more people than any other in the 20th century than it does Buddhism. The irony comes in when people come on here all 'resentful, upset, or annoyed' - otherwise known as being offended - at Bungie for removing this. If you truly believe that we shouldn't be getting all butt hurt over a symbol in a game then maybe you shouldn't be getting all butt hurt over the symbol being removed.

1 AntwortenCan't help but agree, political correctness has been twisted into an instrument of control and fear; Bungie knows that were the story to become any bigger, they'd be slammed by SJW's that don't know shit from applesauce. I don't necessarily blame Bungie but someone has to show some backbone or else this is just going to continue. "Why are all the skull helmets white? That's racist." "Why are there Only a few feminine shaders? That's sexist." "Why does Cayde only flirt with girls? That's homophobic." The list goes on.

Seriously thought this was about the stats. And I thought "everything is offensive..... even a bubble shield is offensive".

6 AntwortenBearbeitet von UndeadGrizzly: 9/13/2017 2:59:57 AMI can't really see why people want them to undo the change. As everyone in this thread has stated, the whole "kekistani" thing is stupid and you really shouldn't care if it's on the arms or not considering it wasn't intentional. I don't really understand why they didn't just make the sleeves solid green or change the symbol though. Sounds like they removed the whole model which is silly. I'm sure they'll be back modified anyway.
-
1 AntwortenHonestly, if anything can be even remotely linked to white supremacy, which the Kekistan flag is because it implies that the plight of underprivileged white people is the same as that of oppressed minorities, it's always good business to distance yourself from it. Besides, a simple reskin is all the armor needs, and that would cost Bungie very little to implement.
-
10 AntwortenFor all the "leftists have their panties in a bunch" talk, I have yet to see any proof of that. No articles, no protests, no petitioning... At the moment, the only bunched panties I see are coming from the "muh property rights" and "businesses can do what they want" crowd. Theres irony for ya.
-
2 AntwortenI can promise Bungie will never get another cent of my money because of this. Not because of what they did or why they did it, simply because they did it. I don't want companies shoving their politics down my throat.
-
Why are people upset over KEK anyways?
-
59 AntwortenQuick question to all of you righty people who are getting your panties in a bunch over Bungie removing this. Would your reaction be the same if this was an accidental BLM / ANTIFA / left-wing logo? Would you, completely unlike the hordes of invisible minorities who apparently are getting triggered by this, just ignore it and pass it off as a random thing in a game not worth your attention? Would you not complain about it on the forums and lament that Bungie has fallen so low as to keep items in its game associated with politics? Would you not sign polls or make threads about it being part of the mainstream media propaganda? And if removed, would you also attack Bungie for caving to whiners, giving in to censorship and being offended, as you are doing now? Genuinely curious, because I think we both know how most of you would react.

5 Antwortenseriously wtf idc about all you crybaby hoes i just want my hunter armors back to normal its all -blam!-ed up wtf.
-
Lol my arms and chest armor are classified for that? This just became a collectors item for me.
-
53 AntwortenThe irony and ignorance here is just palpable. People I've seen complain about the gauntlets or get offended by them - 0. People I've seen complain about Bungie changing an in-game cosmetic and getting really worked up over it - dozens. You people whining about Bungie changing something in their own game are the real snowflakes. You are the triggered ones that can't deal with Bungie not wanting to be associated with a meme symbol that has been adopted by a stupid political movement. You might want to look for a safe space where a game developer making minute changes to their game can't hurt you any more. Hilarious how the ones attacking an invisible enemy for its thin skin are so bloody sensitive themselves. Get over yourselves.
-
1 AntwortenLiterally nobody was offended by it lol, who looks at that and thinks Kekistan? I go on 4chan and typically see kekistan in the political threads, but I could not see the resemblance until Bungie saw it
