Thoughts on Blink Controls

I don't think this is so much as a bug as just the way blink functions, so I'm posting this here. Anyway, while playing the strike and fighting in the second stage of the modular mind guy (can't remember his name at the moment) players are frequently tossed off the platform. Usually, this isn't a problem, as you can simply glide/double jump/lift back to the platform no sweat, unless you're using blink. Then you find that, because blink's directional control seems to be based upon you're original jump direction, or current trajectory (not 100% sure about which) you're only option is to blink further out into empty space, resulting in a embarrassing death that most people can easily avoid. My question is would it be possible (or practical) to add more directional control to blink. Maybe something more akin to hunter double jumps, where it follows your direction key input more (as in pressing left when blinking to blink left etc.) or making blink always go the direction your screen is facing. Full disclosure though, I don't know what it would take to change that around or if it would be worth it, or if I'm the only guy who feels this way. All the same, I figured I'd my two cents.

An interesting take on it. How would one determine the vertical degree of movement? How does that range of movement translate to be easy to input with directional controls? Keep in mind that players only have a fraction of a second to activate blink before they land back on the ground. The method of control needs to be fast and precise enough to make it usable and worthwhile. Would the player have to look in the direction they want to go as well to control their plane of movement? Would that make blink only 'usable' if using a high-sensitivity camera setting? This idea could work but I think only in the form of a modifier on a piece of exotic armour so that it is an optional choice.

    • I kind of wish Blink's direction was input based, not momentum based. And that that supplimentry glide you get while you have blink had some actual vertical capability.
