As someone who initially started the game as a strictly PvE player during launch, I was surprised when I looked at my gaming time and found that Crucible was now my number 1 activity. I'm still shocked that I have so much fun with PvP when all other FPS PvP games never interested me in the least.
That said, I could never stand Trials. Partly because Elimination is just a dull game mode to me due to its relatively slow pace, partly because of the negative culture it created (paid carries, elitist attitudes, etc.), but mostly because it forces most players to play the current meta if you wanted to go all the way which is just boring.
I revisited a few times over the years, but if anything its only gotten worse since Y1, and for all those reasons I decided long ago that I wasn't going to bother just for some so-so weapons and armor skins. If they add some variety to the game mode and can balance the PvP meta a bit better I'll give it another go in D2, but I'm not sad in the least to see D1 Trials go.
EDIT: Thanks for the great feedback everyone. To address the general sentiment of "If you're posting, you care." It's OK. You're allowed to like Trials. Just because some of us don't doesn't diminish your achievements. I was more posting to illustrate that people shouldn't put so much emphasis on it. There is a large part of the community who loves it and that's cool, but a lot of us just don't care even if we really like PvP otherwise. We'll see what becomes of it in D2, and with some changes (Different game type, address DDoS/Cheaters, address the paid carry culture) I might even spend some time with it, but as it stood in D1 it's my opinion that it was kind of a mess and not worth my time.

Trials are for pussys. Get in a proper game.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von The_Beninator_19: 8/19/2017 1:02:52 PMI probably have less than 5 hours of trials play in three years. Would've like to go but never really put in the time or liked the game mode. I also usually worked weekends so that ate into allot time that could've been used for trials

Bearbeitet von CookieNiki: 8/17/2017 8:13:31 PMWhat? "Sign if you never went Flawless, and don't care"? That's for pussies! I never set foot in Trials, don't even have the grimoire card and I don't care! Now, that's something to be proud about it! :)

21 AntwortenI've been flawless and I don't care... it's a hollow, meaningless achievement. In year one, maybe it meant something, because you could put together a team of good friends and make it by practice, because you were playing against players at your level who were working towards that goal... The matches were white knuckle, intense and the thrill of victory was meaningful. Now, it's a mess of cheaters, professional streamers, and sweaties who play for no other reason to lock players out of the lighthouse, for pride or profit... I've personally experienced guys who carry, throw matches and strike deals, determining the outcome of that entire game mode. It's sick, I'm actually ashamed that I was part of that group of players for a time.

3 AntwortenTrials is the only thing that kept this game alive..

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von LeVante: 8/18/2017 4:53:21 PMI totally agree. Trials as it has been is cancer for this game. People ready to do everything to sell a carry or get to the end. Dirty business behind it (I was even offered a guaranteed flawless run for 90$ by a famous streamer). Lots of frustration because it's super difficult and basically always the same people is able to go or carry... It rewards with the best weapons that make sweaty players even sweatier. People cheats a lot to get such rewards. I think that winning Trials should have just granted the emblem. There would have been a lot less cheaters and a lot less carries sales. Only competitive players would have done that which is fine for me I would have never been interested in completing it. P.S. For honesty: I have been flawless not because of my skills but because I spent insane time on Twitch trying to win raffles and be lucky enough to get to the end. Even so I still believe that having to go to the lighthouse and how Trials works it's pure bullshit+frustration.

Signed, been flawless, cared, and enjoyed the hell out of it

I still think trails is one the worst games modes I've ever played, everyone uses the same guns, same armour and full of try hards, plus it dictates the whole of destiny balance, logic for you right there...

I'm all into PvE, except for IB, so I didn't really give a crap and couldn't care less about Trials. Although I did want to experience the Lighthouse......sigh!!!

Never have and will never care!

I don't like trials, I hate how people rage quit on you (as my friends have), refuse tolearn it properly just wanna 'do bounties' and don't care that you get flattened every single game. Or the fact they only care about their own stats and not playing a s a team. Getting t-bagged by other people who think their so 'super cool' I got it out of the way and have everything but I'm glad it is no longer around. Too many idiots who think they are so good because they just sit in a corner with an Ice Breaker or run around with a wormwood their gods all of a sudden.: Oh look at me I got all armour and weapons I have the emblem' means I'm better than you. PS before you jump on me and point out I have the scarab emblem, yes I do but I'm not a great player at trials (I had help!) and, I have never ever thought myself better than anybody and I certainly don't t-bag other people to prove anything or whatever. I just play for fun, have a laugh and chill not be a moron like most Trials try and whateverelse.

10 AntwortenAs I get a little older I realize that my reflexes are slowing down a bit. I used to be really good but my senses aren't as good as they used to be. I found myself getting super frustrated that I wasn't able to perform like I used too. I came to the realization that Destiny PvP isn't for me. I attempted Trials a few times but my experience would usually include buying a ticket, then three games later buying another ticket. Im not that good at PvP anymore. I won't wrap my entire identity into how well I perform at a video game. It's not worth it. So I'm totally at peace not seeing the Lighthouse. Not even bummed about it. But hey, if anyone needs a carry through a raid...

I went flawless and couldn't be happier cancerous trials is gone with that worthless prize.
-
Everyone who put enough time into trials should of easily got a flawless when the player base was larger. At the start of year 3 as long as you put the time in anybody could get a flawless. There was enough players to match teams closer to your skill level for 7 games, obviously a bit of luck was involved.

No trials or crucible, just a happy-go-lucky PvE peasent.
