Or just make it not complete garbage.
It's not that good. Yes it fits the "lone wolf" attitude Hunters are supposed to have, but it's horrible for team play. The dodge ability should just be a "hidden" ability given to all Hunter subclasses, while replacing the global class ability.
(I'm not taking credit for this idea, but I saw it on Reddit and definitely agreed with it)
The class ability should be the "Vanish in Smoke" bomb from the Nightstalker.
It would:
A) Make all players in the radius go invisible while reloading their guns
Or
B) Invisibility lasts longer and won't break when shooting a weapon.
This would still fit the lore and attitude of the Hunter while providing the Hunters with a team based ability.
Please Bungie, Please.
Edit: A lot of people have responded saying, "No. Keep dodge but just make it more powerful.". I'm certainly not opposed to that. I just wanted to make a suggestion that better fit team-play and hunters roles as a "DPS" class.

Gunslingers locked subclass tree lets precision golden gun hits drop orbs of light plus do precision damage. Both improvements over year 1. I will agree though the dodge is pretty meh. At least shorten the cooldown significantly.

3 AntwortenI agree, it seems almost completely pointless. Titan has a shield that reloads your weapon when you duck behind it, allowing you to almost constantly shoot. Warlock has a dodge that they can use more often than the hunter dodge. You also can't dodge damage. I've tried using the Hunter dodge to dodge grenades or AoE damage, and repeatedly died. The AI is actually really good at following you when you dodge. If you dodge close to death, they'll finish you while you're dodging. It doesn't seem special at all. Jumping to the side in a fire fight seems like a normal thing for anyone to do. The passive perks while dodging are not good enough for the cool down. Overall it's just... disappointing. Goldengun also needs to be a 1-hit kill on any red-bar mob, but that's a story for another time.

2 AntwortenI just wanted something that benefits the team in raids or pve in general. I know hunters are lone wolves but god damn we were useless all of year one. Till tether came along. Maybe, [i]maybe[/i], chains of woe will help the team during dps mode? Faster reloads for more dps? I dunno. Still seems kinda lame.

But with that second perk... oooooooOOOo, there's a chance that it will tilt the odds in your favour immensely. And I like that. They would also have to adjust the Arcstrider dodge/melee synergy though. How do we aim the throw of it? Or is it just an issue of radius, with an animation of stopping like the other two and throwing it at our feet? Also, maybe make the dodge exclusive to a Nightstalker perk tree (which should be coming back) like the Icarus Dodge is to the Dawnblade.

1 AntwortenWhile I'm sure this ability will have its uses in the Crucible, this will be next to worthless in PvE unless you're clearing a pack of Dregs while on patrol. Nobody in their right mind would be using their squishy-ass Hunter to melee enemies in the raid. The enemies are simply too strong to risk that. And with Chain of Woe active, your reload is already just as fast as the time it takes to complete the twirl anyway, so the reload one is no better. I'm not sure if there are plans to add a third sub-class in D2 and if so, whether the Hunters are getting their tether back but man am I going to miss that in the raid.

1 AntwortenI like the sound of that to be honest. Right now the hunter has the weekest/most selfish class ability, and while I love the archstrider super I dont like not being able to benifet my team (after coming from my titan).

4 AntwortenFor an arcstrider using the melee charge perk, you can literally clear out trash mobs (like the packs of war dogs or groups of goblins) but just using roll-melee-roll-melee-roll-melee. It's pretty powerful.

I think having a one second of invincibility during the dodge might help it, but I think it has quite a good use. If I did have to pick something to replace it though, I would choose a decoy. Hunter summons a decoy to either stand in place or runs or something to distract the enemy. Still not really a support role, but something that could help in a pinch to draw fire away, and seems like something a hunter would use. Edit: Also, was watching some videos, and can the hunter dodge indefinitely? I know the ability associated with the dodge probably has a cooldown, but It looks like you can dodge as much as you want, and that makes me like the dodge a lot more

10 AntwortenNo. Every class is different. Hunters are meant to be totally self sufficient in D2. The dodge serves for the fact that they have no other defenses. If you don't like that hunters have obvious support for team mates play a titan or warlock thats why the game has CLASSES and is not COD so that they are different. And are you forgetting chain of woe, hunter melee that blinds near by enemies and the possibility of exotics that can buff nearby teammates ASWELL as the 3rd subclass?

18 AntwortenI seriously do not understand what is wrong with some of you. The hunter's dodge is incredible. The melee recharge puts you in the heat of the battle and you can literally take out a tire waves of low level adds with a role-melee combo. Try it on Nessus where Fallen fight the Cabal. The reload dodge works wonders in almost every situation, especially in pvp. How could you not understand this?

1 AntwortenI really like it, especially with arcstrider. The only thing I think it needs is speed. It's not very effective in pvp other than to recharge your melee or reload. The actual dodge is way too slow to be used in the middle of a fight.

I agree, it's not fair that titans and warlock get these great new abilities plus warlock can Twilight Garrison every 5 Seconds in the air and the hunter has a role that refills his clip yay Titan wall warlock energy Wells and hunters get a evade move get out of here ridiculous absolutely ridiculous I've mained a hunter since first beta And this is garbage please do something to help the hunter be on the same level as Warlock and Titan we need a team player move. And our evade should b just that a evade like the warlock has. It's not that hard

The dive should cover a longer distance and provide a short speed boost in addition to its selected perk of reload/melee bonus. Hunters are the mobility class by definition

Destiny is completed, they wont go back to rework anything, whether it's a game breaking bug or crappy dps guns. They can patch it, but not anytime soon. Just remember how long it took to fix cryptarch and the bullet sponges. BUT, if is something that has to do with making real money....they'll fix it in minutes.
