I wanted to start by saying I've hardly posted on here the many years that I have had a bnet account.I normally just lurk around.
I really liked D1 a lot,I guess that's why I feel the need to post with the hope that things might change. As small as that might be,I post anyway.
After the beta I'm still dumbfounded and probably still in a state of shock on how I felt and still feel after playing that watered down mess.
I have defended Bungie through the years but I honestly can't think of one thing I actually liked about the beta.It was a mess and I don't see it changing all that much from now until release, old build or not.
From the moment I went in to the homecoming mission and jumped(started on hunter) it didn't feel right to me.The movement is clunky.
Went into my menu checked out subclasses everything is dumbed down.I tried all classes and just something that I noticed, most seemed to me IMO to be designed with crucible in mind.(maybe that was just me?)
Played strike ,thought it was too long and drawn out especially with the two primary system that made it almost unbearable.Which, by the way ,is my BIGGEST complaint of them all.
PVP was meh and just ok with me.The weapon system I can live with in this mode.It got boring really quick.
In short I kind of walked away from it like been there done that kind of thing.I don't know if it's because everything just felt so bare bones and dry or if I'm just spoiled from year 1 even with all its problems but I enjoyed year one the most after that it just lost its appeal.I still played though up until now.
That's my feedback Bungie if you even read these posts.Even with the small fixes you outlined in your TWAB won't be enough because I think you messed around way too much with the core gameplay mechanics, jump, movement speed, gunplay(which didn't feel all that responsive and crisp as D1),weapon system,(HUGE ONE RIGHT THERE)I hope the full release isn't a train wreck.Im sorry to say I'm not that optimistic.
Edit:Thanks for the support guys and girls.Im glad I'm not the only one that feels the way I do.At the end of the day,yes it's just a video game ,but I just want the best from this company. This is NOT the best that they can do.Not by a landslide and I know this from experience basically playing all of Bungies games. Not sure what happen but this is still one of my favorite developers.

3 AntwortenI also don't usually post on the forums but I feel so strongly about my disappointment with the D2 Beta. I played the original D1 Beta and have to say I loved it and on that basis I pre-ordered the game. First and foremost a Beta is to test the game, but it's also a chance for the company to get more pre-orders hence the pre-order tab in the director that showed up over the weekend. Upon playing the Beta over the past week I'm seriously thinking of cancelling my pre-order. D2 IMO has taken so many steps backwards it beggars belief. What the hell where Bungie thinking releasing this garbage they call a Beta, a few months old build, it just not a great advertisement for the game. Off the top of my head these are the things that stood out for me good and bad. - They were quite a few things I did like, the first mission was a blast to play and Bungie did not disappoint. - I enjoyed the strike although I kept running out of ammo and enemies being bullet sponges. (I believe Bungie have already said that the ammo has been fixed) - The new crucible game mode was also fun the map was great. - No more sprint cool down - The Titan and Warlock where fun to play (not so much the Hunter) - The farm looked amazing but I suppose this is only a social space. The things I dislike, well my list could go on and on, but the ones that stood out above all others. - Weapons having 2 primary in not the way to go IMO, the majority of weapons felt so bad especially the new Grenade Launcher that fired sprouts, just stinks. The Exotics do not feel Exotic in the slightest. - Supers and abilities charge rate just pathetic, I wouldn't bother, it's supposed to be a FPS with a lot of magic thrown in, not a sprinkle. - PVP 4v4 is another huge step backwards. When you have a raid with 6 people why only have 4 in PVP, it means a couple of people have to sit out. - Game play has been slowed down quite a bit, the movement felt awkward and not very nice (but it is an old build so could have changed) So all in all a big let-down for me. I don't presume to know but I bet a few people at Bungie are not fully on board with the new direction D2 seems to be going.

I think I have to agree. I destroyed people in the D2 beta even though the subclasses seemed dumbed down. My big issue is that this does not seem like the sequel. It really feels like D1 is the more advanced game.

Bearbeitet von GenerationiDe4d: 7/26/2017 2:47:13 AMFor all of you in here that dislike the two primary set up for PVE only I will post a link below. Fast forward to around the 34 minute mark and listen to what ole' John has to say if you haven't already watched this interview that is. I find it messed up that this "change" was based on a bet from the sandbox team.He even says he has all this self-doubt about it himself.Well,John,I have some news for you.And it's not really looking good. https://youtu.be/58XtTJJ2mF4

yeah same i love going to the forums just to see all these entitled gamers complain
-
All these entitled people asking for more content in the beta... This was a tech test, not a showcase of the full game. My only complaint was that they didn't keep the farm open longer.

I am an older (30 year gamer - do the math) Day 1 player of Destiny. Year One was way harder than all of the subsequent updates, but I think for those of who have played Destiny the longest love Year One the best. At least I do. The Beta at least shows the new weapon system is clearly designed to "balance" the game leaning heavily toward PvP IMO. For those of you who love Trials and the Crucible and have been complaining about over powered weapons etc. this should be welcome news they way the new system is. For those of us, like me, who frankly only play the Crucible in order to get a quest done (exotic sword comes to mind) this new set up is total crap. Sorry Bungie this new weapon set up with fusion and sniper rifles and shotguns in the heavy slot? The Beta strike was not fun, in fact tedious, thanks to having to play it with a crap gun and my putter. The weapon mods better be AMAZING to make up for this change with heavy ammo raining down from the sky! Very disappointed with what I consider one of the best games ever made. This game is played by much older people than the squeaky COD whanks and you should have seriously viewed any changes with ADULTS in mind. Just saying. Not happy....

Bearbeitet von CWP350: 7/25/2017 4:10:49 PMI was huge into D1 in Y1. When they announced weapon nerf 2.0 during HoW, I quit the game. My friends talked me into coming back or TTK. The story was better but most of the weapons were garbage and it was a chore to play. Almost all of the fun things from Y1 were destroyed and not replaced with anything with any relevance. I quit again and didn't come back for any of the other DLCs or Events. I regretted that I actually gave Bungie more money. Soon after all of my friends wised up and quit the game as well. I tried the D2 beta and it's even worse than the nerfed to hell D1. Characters move slow, even when "sprinting" across maps. Sprinting is like a quarter of a step faster than just walking. Jumps are too floaty. Guns are weak and forgettable. Powers take an eternity to recharge. The strike took forever because I kept running out of ammo and my only real options were freaking primaries. When I play a loot/RPG game, I have the expectation that I will get more powerful in PvE. The whole point of loot games is to build your character to wreck, by grinding for better gear. Bungie does everything in their power to not let you get more powerful. They do the opposite and make you weaker over time. It's not about the difficulty of the activities, it's about tangible power progression maximizing character builds. How is there even an endgame without power progression? Bungie is simply over their head when it comes to managing a game like this. It doesn't seem like any of them actually play their own game. I'm really hoping BioWare isn't as stupid with Anthem. I'm not holding out much hope though. It seems like the majority of these game developers are cut from the same cloth. Our only real way to voice our displeasure of D2 is to simply not buy it. If you aren't happy don't reward them by buying the game.

4 AntwortenThe new gun system is a deal breaker for me. 2600+ hrs in D1. Two primaries, and specials get shared with heavy? It's beyond my comprehension. I've seen Bungie try every trick in the book to get us to take longer for time to complete for activities but entirely removing a gun category is beyond the pale. I don't care if this beta is 3 months old, I truly don't believe they are going to change the gun system. It is sincerely and sadly a deal breaker and if I know Bungie at all, they'll ignore this issue until either the fanboys admit defeat (privately) and just play it or they put a dent in the issue with a small band-aid for the gaping wound. I hate to see a game I loved for 3 years end this way, but there ya go. I hope I'm wrong, but it's not entirely foolish to expect Bungie to be who they've always been. I'm gonna go sit in the Mothyards and snipe some ads and switch to a rocket launcher just to remember what it feels like.

Bearbeitet von blade329: 7/25/2017 6:24:21 PMI was seriously underwhelmed by this Beta as well. All these asinine changes were made to pacify the Trials crowd. Turning Destiny into an e-Sports game is about the worst thing I could imagine for it. Yeah, I've been waiting for months anxiously salivating for weaker gear. Yeah baby, just what I wanted. I've been yearning for my guardian to be weak as a hamster for D2. I was literally laughing at these guns I was using in the story mode and I almost started coughing at the awesome power of the grenades. LOL. We might as well be throwing rolled up socks.

7 AntwortenIt can be improved (obviously it's a beta) however I totally disagree with your point of view. I think (as many others) that PvP is finally balanced and they've done a very good job on that side. PvE unfortunately feels the side effect pf those changes so it needs improvements but still I think it's a massive improvement compared to Destiny 1.

Ok know right I think these forums are as active as when the Taken King dropped.

10 AntwortenWhat did you expect from an older build beta? A fully playable game that gives you hours of fun? The beta gave you a look into some of the content. The strikes was great and you thought it was too long? You're complaining that Bungie is giving you TOO MUCH CONTENT? Jesus, what?
-
https://youtu.be/ATzjs-iz4iM Best reasons right there on why this is gonna suck, Luke Suck sounds like a complete blabbering idiot. I think Bungie needs to take a closer look at who's running their company and do a complete internal shake up, because these idiots you have running the show will destroy your company and good name.

No doubt, the game was very much redesigned with PvP players in mind. More than that, a certain type of PvP player. The current primary-focused meta seems to be all about quick reactions and team-shooting. And also with getting the heavy into the hands of someone with the right weapon, and the skill to use it.

91 AntwortenDevs, "Hey guys, here's the BETA to test for server stability and some of the new changes, it's watered-down and doesn't have everything. Plus it's an older build so we need to tweak some of the values still." Players, "It's a watered down mess and they need to adjust stuff" Me, "..."
-
1 AntwortenSorry to break it to you man, but the finished product will remain largely unchanged. I've seen this happen over and over and over again. Before Halo 3 came out, people complained about the game after the beta. A few things were tweaked but it was still pretty much the same game. When people saw the first footage of ODST (which was originally called Halo 3: Recon) people complained, after the Reach beta came out, people complained, after the Destiny beta came out, people complained. This is exactly what I (and Bungie) expected from the Destiny 2 beta. I don't mean to say that you shouldn't voice your opinion, because you should. I guess I'm just saying that things change, and sometimes it sucks for some people. If it's that bad, you're just going to have to find something else to occupy your time. That's what happened to me. I used to spend a ton of time on this website and I spent an absurd amount of time on the Halo games, but Destiny changed everything for me. Now I just check in every once in a while to see what's become of this place.

2 AntwortenThe player base does not want D2 to be a watered down version of D1. Nobody does. The question is What does Bungie want?
-
5 AntwortenOne of the player posters said the plot story has holes in it big enough for a semi to drive through; meaning what advanced race allows the enemy to get that close without it knowing they were coming. This is the main reason I may not play the strike and will un-install the beta today. I am one of the idiots that pre-ordered D2, so I will be stuck with it. The look of the game is awesome, and it actually plays pretty well, but as so many other players have said the weapons are way to weak. For us average players the PVP is geared for the advanced players. And once D2 is out with the few planned changes, those upper level players will put their team together and grind through the weak base story in a few hours. So I agree with War of the Mind in the comments made.
-
I thought primaries felt good, but other weapons were crap. I see all this great content on the reveals and keep thinking it is completely ruined by the weapon system.
-
Excellent post, hits the problems dead in the eye. I agree destiny was best in year one, i know pvp was bad and that is where bungie went wrong. All they had to do at that point was separate pve and pvp, change abilities and weapon rules to a competitive balance and leave the pve world alone. No, they instead chased the nerf train all the way to this crappy beta. Its sad, really.
-
1 AntwortenJust the sound in the voices of the more popular destiny streamers. "Ugh. Yeah, and ugh yeah. ok. "
-
2 AntwortenI hope you are a streamer, cause you will be the first I agree with, oh hang on you are probably just a regular Joe like me. Oh well OP, Bungie won't read this, you have to broadcast and have followers first :( Have a bump anyway.
-
1 AntwortenI can feel the sadness in your words my friend
-
It will be really funny when d2 comes out and a week later you see more people in D1 than D2....
-
I felt Exactly the same.. we all loved this game otherwise we wouldn't be in this forum after 2 years and a half. We don't want this game to be another NMS. but in all honesty and if my friend list is of any representativeness about the Destiny population, I'm very pessimistic about the franchise to even last until Christmas..
