Anybody else getting sick of this excuse from Luke Smith?
You had 3 years to figure out what you wanted Destiny to be. You had many years before that when you announced at E3 that Destiny was supposed to be this rich, cinematic adventure where "we could go to that mountain over there" so we'd throw our money at our screens.
And still, he continues to use the same tired "we have ideas that we're excited about, but they may not be ready in time because of our deadlines" rhetoric.
Either Bungie devs are incompetent and can't manage to meet deadlines, or the deadlines are unreasonable and Bungie can't realistically get their work done in time. Either way, it's bad for customers, and I'm beginning to think it's the former. It's 2017, and a Destiny 2 release won't have custom games and other core features at launch. More is being removed from the game than added or expanded upon. Luke's response to "since there are no stat rolls to chase, how are people going to stay engaged and grind?" is "we have ideas, but right now we're focused on the launch deadline." I can't help but be skeptical and feel like this is going to be yet another incomplete game at launch.
What a joke.
The game has been in Beta since its production began in 2010. Only now are they finding a way to use the European Dead Zone and Cabal raid that were cut out of VANILLA. But they feel their deadline (which was already delayed by a year) is rushed and we won't get all of the features we should have (custom matches, for example) right away..

If they need a little longer for D2 to make it a better game then so be it. I want a game thats fun to play not a rushed piece of trash

1 AntwortenI'm super hyped for d2 think everything looks sweet. But I do agree no private matches at launch looks like an incomplete game being released. AGAIN.

problem is that bungie needed to invent the games engine twice.. so they did not had the time to focus on content but instead they had to shift gears and focus to getting out an engine that could actually handle the content.. see the video above to see that this problem was alreadx well known to the devs in 2015 where they discussed the inability of the tiger engine to host that amount of content.. (which led to the last minute change of the entire narrative , the destruction of the story and to a completely different game as what was promised ) (and it was the reason for joe staten to leave)

1 AntwortenThe game is already a year overdue, you realize?

4 Antworten> You had 3 years to figure out what you wanted Destiny to be Well, not really. If they had used up 3 years to figure out what they wanted Destiny to be, they'd be starting to code now. You can't code software before you've decided what you want to code.

Normally I like a bit of salt, but posts like this are getting tedious. How about, if you are buying the sequel, wait to see how it plays, etc. Bungie is doing a pretty poor job of promoting Destiny 2 (they sound like a bunch of amateurs instead of the industry veterans they are), and the more I read about it, the more I'm glad to be holding off for a few months before I start my journey. Maybe you should do the same, hold off until the dust settles and then make your choice? And if you've been around since their Marathon days, you'll know that Bungie have never been very good at time keeping when it comes to game development. It's something that you get used to (although after this long in the industry, you'd think they'd learn?). Anyway, take care, Guardian. ☮️

3 AntwortenThat wasn't this team. The original Destiny team is all gone. They left right after the launch of Destiny. Internal feuds and lots of disagreements with Activision over the way the game was going.
