Anybody else getting sick of this excuse from Luke Smith?
You had 3 years to figure out what you wanted Destiny to be. You had many years before that when you announced at E3 that Destiny was supposed to be this rich, cinematic adventure where "we could go to that mountain over there" so we'd throw our money at our screens.
And still, he continues to use the same tired "we have ideas that we're excited about, but they may not be ready in time because of our deadlines" rhetoric.
Either Bungie devs are incompetent and can't manage to meet deadlines, or the deadlines are unreasonable and Bungie can't realistically get their work done in time. Either way, it's bad for customers, and I'm beginning to think it's the former. It's 2017, and a Destiny 2 release won't have custom games and other core features at launch. More is being removed from the game than added or expanded upon. Luke's response to "since there are no stat rolls to chase, how are people going to stay engaged and grind?" is "we have ideas, but right now we're focused on the launch deadline." I can't help but be skeptical and feel like this is going to be yet another incomplete game at launch.
What a joke.
The game has been in Beta since its production began in 2010. Only now are they finding a way to use the European Dead Zone and Cabal raid that were cut out of VANILLA. But they feel their deadline (which was already delayed by a year) is rushed and we won't get all of the features we should have (custom matches, for example) right away..

I like how he uses the deadline for an excuse yet bungie pushed forward the release date. Clearly they are good to go and have time but would rather slowly trickle in the rest of the game so they can get as much playtime, money, and praise for the least amount of work.

6 AntwortenYou order a car from Bungie, it arrives. The car drives, but it's missing the majority of parts (missing windows, trunk lid, A/C, spare wheel, radio). You call the Bungie dealership, Luke Smith answers. "Luke, the car I purchased is missing several important parts. I thought your company would ship me a complete product!?...what's the story here?" You say. Luke replies "Well, I can't say too much about that, we're still finishing off the car, and we've got several good ideas on how to do it" You realise you have been taken for a ride... 2 AntwortenWhats worse is they moved their own deadline back, why? I still cant get those extra days off work now. Also and stop me if im wrong, but its a month til release, shouldnt it be gettin certified and made by now? Theyve got to ship it around the world? All this takes time no?
-
If you say "we're up against a deadline" you shouldnt have announced one in the first place
-
8 Antwortenhe's literally saying the game will be unfinished on release. unacceptable...preorder cancelled
-
Welce to Bungie dude. This ain't nothing new, Did you play Halo back in the early 2000s? Same crap
-
3 AntwortenI think their biggest problem is hubris. They bit off more than they could chew pre-launch and the more they shrank the game with pvp patches and a cocky attitude the more they set themselves up for failure for d2. I really don't care for how they've treated and communicated with their players. Hubris will do them in.

Oh fun, I see the game!! Let me also have a go at being blindly oblivious to the game we are likely to get in September. 68gb of new content is not new content. One of the biggest console installs ever won't have enough content. A story (the stranger, the darkness) won't be told before the games release, so there are no storys. Weapon and armor perks won't be randomized so there will be one gun and one armor in the game. They have replaced all in game perk functions with non functional, unthought of trials functions. The game is going to be about hitting dregs with coins. Classic.....we all win
-
Yup, they have just chopped up existing content because they didn't like the royalties to previous writer and his ownership of story.

2 AntwortenIt's simple. They're lazy. They get paid the same regardless. The longer they drag something out, the longer they have before they have to do any work. They had years before D1. They've had years after. It's the same song and dance. Look at other games like Warframe. It gets amazing content monthly. The way it should be.

Bearbeitet von bFLY: 7/4/2017 10:00:01 PMSeems like just the normal way that games are made. Deadlines exist, devs have to abide by them, it's just a part of the game (excuse the pun). Things get scrapped, cancelled, or postponed due to deadlines during the development of every game; most of the time us players never even hear about it. Bungie isn't doing anything I havnt seen other devs do when it comes to deadlines.

10 AntwortenBearbeitet von CIKiller: 7/3/2017 4:26:54 PMA deadline is a deadline, not only that, the release date was moved up by 2 days. Try making something so complex and tell me how stressed you feel. This post further enforces my belief that the community will hate anything Luke Smith says, he could say "Good morning Guardians", and the community would lose their minds.

8 AntwortenThe only time I ever used the custom games feature was to find Crucible ghosts without being shot at in the process, so I'm not too concerned about that feature not being in the game at launch. As for the static rolls on guns, I see a lot of people around here this morning quite upset about that. I'm actually OK with it. I liked the fact that the Year One raid weapons had static rolls. You knew that if Fatebringer dropped, it would be good. When TTK came along and the King's Fall weapons had RNG rolls, I found it frustrating. I finally get the scout rifle to drop and it has a shit roll? That's frustrating to me. The Division is a good example of a looter that went too far with the RNG on the loot. There was a ridiculous range of possible stat rolls and attribute combinations that could drop, which made progressing very frustrating. I'd rather there be too little RNG in the stat/attribute rolls than too much. My main concern for D2 will be the variety of activities that are relevant at end-game. If all we have is a four-strike playlist and one raid, I won't grind for thousands of hours regardless of how much RNG there is on the loot rolls. I'll get bored. Luke Smith made it clear that the new patrol activities like Adventures were not originally intended to be replayable, which suggests they won't be relevant to end-game at all. So I have my concerns about D2, just different ones.

The deadline isn't the problem , they'll make it whenever they feel like it .. once they figured out people will buy the game REGARDLESS of whatever lie they tell what's the rush ?
-
My favorite part is that "deadline" in that article was edited by the author in place of what Luke really said, which was probably "against a wall".

I am sick of the excuse but unfortunately it is true. Activision demands that by a certain date they MUST have x amount of content that suits activisions wants. So even if they have a really cool idea it takes a backburner to content nessecary to satisfy their contract with activision. Tldr: Activision sucks Still hate the excuse though

3 AntwortenYeah, and if you worked in the video game industry you know that deadlines are deadlines. Unfortunately. Meanwhile, Bethesda and Rockstar don't have to have any deadlines and get to pump out a new title whenever they want to.
-
Delay it to 2028 they still will not meet it. Just scrap and be rid of it.
-
Typical Gavin Belson dude...
-
3 AntwortenThere is no deadline for D2, but if it doesn't launch by fall 2017 then activision gets a good chunk bungie
-
2 AntwortenI've always supported bungie but I actually think that D2 is gonna be worst than D1
-
1 AntwortenGoing e sport is the best choice they could have made :)

We did go to that mountain over there. Welcome to the Temple.

I'm going to give it a year or two. I don't want to purchase 5 dlc's that last a few hours long.
