So do people still play the "older" Pokemon games like Gen IV and lower? I have a DS Lite and was hoping to get one of the Gen IV games but I don't really want to get one if the playerbase for those games are just dead. Any thoughts?

3 AntwortenThis ain't CoD.. you don't need a playerbase to enjoy a Pokémon game.

Considering the DS Lite cannot connect to the internet any more, you can't really do competitive Diamond and Pearl... Or any other 4th gen game. Maybe with a homebrew you can access the internet. But idk.

Pokemon yellow is the best

1 AntwortenI play the roms. Gen 1-4 are the best compared to the rest.

A couple of years ago, I went back and played Silver (my favourite). So much nostalgia of being a kid and owning other kids at school to be the best that no one ever was. On a side note, this makes me excited for the Pokemon game on Switch. I need another handheld Pokemon game.

I like the older titles and play myself.

Those are all I play.

When I download them on my computer to play in class every now and then. I'll only download gen one or three. Honestly only played little bit of diamond/pearl and haven't played any of the ones after that

I still play Gen III occasionally on my emulator. VI, and up I'm not a huge fan of.

1 AntwortenI'm currently playing Emerald on my GBA SP, usually when I have to go outside somewhere.

6 AntwortenThey announced that pokemon gold and silver will be available to buy on the 3ds Nintendo shop. Sometime in September

Still play them (mostly Gen IV-V since my DSLite broke...) but the Wifi for the DS and Wii got shut down a few years ago. Or in other words if you want to battle with other players, have them in your area or get a 3DS and a Gen VI/VII game. If you just want to play the games, get them! They are still great games, but imo theyre slower. It takes longer to get from A to B and battles are lasting longer as well. But the newer games are slow too, because every 5 steps someone comes and talks with you...

I play the ROMs all the damn time. Hacked ROMs are incredible

Pokemon Blue or Yellow or GTFO

You couldnt play online anyway cause of they turned off ds communications. But there are plenty of people who play Gen IV titles. I'm actually replaying SoulSilver right.

I play alpha sapphire on my ds quite a bit.

I still play diamond/heartgold from time to time, but don't bother trying to find any MP matches...

I'm sure people play them, but they aren't going to be crazy active for battles or trades. I'd invest in a 3ds or 2ds and pick up Sun/Moon or ORAS.

4 AntwortenTheir player base has definitely moved to the newer games. If you want to pay the older gen play the remakes, though you probably won't find a ton of people playing those besides Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby.
