This is the vibe that I'm getting from this article. It seems that they're moving away from the Darkness vs Light theme and going towards "bad guy is here, defeat him, rinse and repeat in DLC"
Although it is not confirmed whether or not grimoire will be in-game, it seems like they're lessening the lore of the game and simplifying it.
Looks like we may never find out the true nature of the Darkness...what 'really' happened during the Collapse or why that big ball was chilling above The City.

1 AntwortenWell not all the enemies are allies of darkness. If I am not mistaken the cabal and fallen actually have nothing do with it. The fallen want to be re-blessed with the light, even make servitors/primes as tributes to The Traveller. The cabal are actually fleeing from The Darkness themselves so there is no way they are allies of the darkness. So, pretty much all the times we fought them, we weren't fighting against the darkness then either. Doesn't mean we won't eventually go after the darkness again or that it isn't the biggest threat, just means there are threats that need to be taken care of now.

Definitely not. Half the people that play Destiny think the darkness is anyone that shoots at us, so Destiny 2 is focusing more on what's actually going on instead of the "good guy/bad guy" mentality from Destiny's story.
-
We killed the heart of the Darkness in vanilla Remember? "Think you can kill a god?" "I don't think I have a choice" Anyone remember this?
-
It is definitely confirmed that grimoire is not in Destiny 2.
-
Saving it for Destiny 3... or 4... or whenever they actually sit down and figure out what The Darkness is in the first place. Right now the closest we got was that blobby matrix thing in the Black Garden. Which seemed like some half assed bullshit anyway...

1 AntwortenStory dumbed down first off you have to have a story to dumb down.
-
1 AntwortenTbh I think they bit off far more than they could ever hope to chew with D1. All the garbage about time travel, simulation/causality is unthought and sounds like it came from a 16 yo's fanfiction. That said, the 'evil bad guy who is evil because no reason has come to destroy you because evil' is getting extremely old. Bane's paper thin motivation to steal the light because he thinks that he is more deserving of it is hardly better than a cackling space gargoyle coming to get revenge for killing his son.

That is not what the article said.... At all.

Bearbeitet von GalaxySpider: 6/12/2017 10:20:15 PMI think it's important to highlight every species as much as possible. The Darkness obviously is just the counterpart to the light in our universe. It's like Ying & Yang. One can't exist without the other and both form a balance which is needed. Otherwise our world would be just a one-sided boring experience. In the Books of Sorrow the light is described as "The Sky" and the Darkness as "The Deep". What's more important though is to learn about the species which exists and we encounter in the game. It's like Mass Effect. While the Reapers are a significant part of the story, the more interesting pieces lie within the different species you encounter and what they have to tell about you, other species, or their own culture. They all form the universe and space people experienced and learned to love over the years.

There is supposed to be more in game lore. I'll hold off judgment till I see it. I'd rather them take their time and tell a full story. I said this back in year 1, Vanilla Destiny set up a lot of storyline, but it took till HoW to really see one and TTK to bring some stuff full circle. I don't mind loose ends, but if we're going in depth from here on, I don't see that as a bad thing. Just my two cents.
-
You know that it is confirmed that there is no Grimoire at all right?
-
"The darkness" was too vague of a villain and executed poorly in D1. A more traditional enemy can work well, if fleshed out correctly. We'll just have to see.
-
Destiny has a story?
-
Can't get more dumbed down than vanilla. Homecoming showed me that they're really focusing on story this time.
-
It's not like that its like "This fatass and his sweaty trials clan just stole ur power, go to other places and get shit then kick his ass"
-
Where did the exo stranger go
-
1 AntwortenWell it just seems like what we've had in all of the expansions. We just focus on the immediate action and whoever is in our face atm. Hopefully the lore keeps giving us big picture stuff, and more than the glimpses we've gotten so far. The story seems better, I'm personally just worried about the lore.

Aiming for the casuals & the players that were there in Vanilla, but quickly realized that they did not receive the game that was e3 hyped. I know a handful here at work who traded it in after a day. I can understand Bungie wanting to sell to them again, but those players are long gone. At least the ones I know refuse to even give it another shot.

They've said themselves d2 is going for the casual market.

Well look at where the Dark vs Light story got us in Destiny 1. Hey you just got ressurected in the middle of nowhere, go find this downed ship and fly to sanctuary. You're a guardian, go fight the darkness. Alright here's this enemy type in this planet. They're bad, shoot them, destroy this and kill these guys. Just do it, we could tell you why but just do it, not once but a gazillion times because you will never get that loot you want. Oh another place, new stuff to shoot, and some old as well because why not. We had no real direction, plot or a clear backstory. We don't even know exactly what we are yet. Destiny 2 is focusing a bit more on our characters story and the light itself and not just constant Hive/Taken foes like D1 ended up doing. The Cabal aren't an enemy of "The Darkness" either, like the Fallen. They're just a military race of aliens that stumbled upon our Galaxy at a convenient time. It was a scouting legion as well. They don't exactly want to eradicate us like the true dark races AKA the Vex and Hive. They do however want our power and The Red Legion came in force and hit us hard. Let us wipe away the other enemies that are getting in our way and learn who WE are before we learn the true nature of the darkness and every little detail about it. Odds are Destiny 3 will definitely focus more on "The Darkness". Wouldn't you rather know a bit more about what you are whatand what you're capable of before you know your enemy?

3 AntwortenTo be fair, we shouldn't find out the true nature of the darkness, that's like finding out the true nature of Chtulu. Some folks seem to forget sometimes the mystery is sweeter then the answer.
