Anthem looks like what I wanted Destiny to be
just finished the Microsoft conference, and they closed with gameplay of Bioware's new IP Anthem. It's pretty much a copy of the Destiny design and story - Humans surviving in a last city thanks to a big wall, and these guys in power armor are the protectors of it. But whats different is the world is actually huge and open. Exploration is a factor, dynamic events and destruction, loot drops. If you play the Anthem demo and the first stage demo of Destiny you'll probably see a lot of similarities. However, unlike Destiny, Anthem looks to be doing a lot more with open worlds and quests instead of isolated zones like Destiny. Now I'm still gonna play, of course, anthem's not coming for a while. but when it does drop I'll probably end up spending more time there. Was wondering if anyone else feels like Anthem is what Destiny was supposed to be?

7 AntwortenYou know exploration is a big factor in Anthem how? I mean just look at it this way, at this stage before destiny's release three years ago I thought exploration was a big factor in Destiny as well. Don't get your hopes up all over again like this you're just setting yourself up for disappointment. I honestly can see this game looking like a destiny killer and flopping just like the division.

1 AntwortenWell, they dodged the PvP question. If they don't have PvP, the game may die out quick. On the other hand, without PvP the game will need a large amount of PvE content to be successful. Personally, I want the PvP to be similar to how it's done in a mobile game called Unison League. You make a guild, pick a schedule, and the game matches you with other guilds for 3 fights a day at times depending on your schedule. The game is heavily PvE based, but the PvP is there, it's fun, and mostly* balanced. [spoiler]Archers final subclass, the sniper, is a tad OP. They were really shafted with their first 3 subclasses, so it's kinda fair, but now every S and A rank match is just 5v5 snipers duking it out.[/spoiler]

3 Antwortendestiny reveal: show how "open world" there game is. anthem reveal show how open world there game is. destiny reveal: another person drops in at the beginning. anthem reveal: another person drops in at the beginning. destiny reveal: a random rare drop (thunder lord). anthem reveal: a random rare drop. destiny reveal: ends with a public event. anthem reveal: ends with a public event. i really hope anthem doesn't follow the same path as destiny. destiny was alot of fun when it first came but as the dlcs and updates started coming it started going down hill. nerfs after nerfs mostly. a few buffs. and then they started focusing more on pvp than pve im not saying the pvp nerfs ruined pve but some of them made certain weapons and abilities feel less than. but there is still a ways to go before anthem comes maybe it will be open world with tons of content. and have lots to explore. but its too soon to tell.

2 AntwortenAnthem doesnt have that story potential and backing that D1 had (activision+bungo what could have gone wrong). It does, however, seem to have Xbox backing as a new flagship+development time+ bioware. The success of this game can determine their sales for the next decade if they play their cards right. I always said that I felt we were a decade off from a game that could deliver like pre release destiny. Perhaps this is that game. Perhaps not. Making it for the one will generate more sales but i think it would be a better game if they focused on the X

6 AntwortenAnthem honestly looks nothing like Destiny. Destiny doesn't have exo suits, iron man style flying, a massive open world, and it definitely isn't a third person shooter. Why I prefer Destiny over Anthem: -First person (This depends on your play style, I prefer first person over third) -Environment. Although being a planet where the only story came from the last DLC rise of iron, the areas of earth have always been an interesting place. An industrial and cold overgrown cosmodrome in the motherland, that just seems more interesting than a jungle. Venus was a jungle but it had futuristic temples of the vex which were different because they are a futuristic take on an old architecture. The moon was pretty boring (personal opinion) because it had a infected alien temple look, infections don't look cool or interesting they look disgusting, not enough to make a person go ew, but enough to make the person prefer other places. Mars was interesting but the concept of a desert city seemed a little too, not sure actually, the cabal fortifications are very well designed though. Dreadnaught looks weird and peculiar, not so much cool. -Less personalised story. By this I mean that the story doesn't revolve around the character as much, things happen due to the enemies movements against the light, rather than individually against you. But I can't say Destiny doesn't make the main character the biggest hero in the galaxy, little corny. -Not like Warframe. Anthem seems to follow Warframe more than Destiny to be honest, the graphics, the enemies, the overall look.

1 AntwortenVisually, Anthem ticks all the right boxes. The world looks huge and dense, filled with tones of wildlife. By the looks of that things, players should be able to almost everywhere. This is what I wanted from Destiny. Destiny's worlds are filled with so much empty space. I want to be completely immersed in a rich world teeming with life and content.

2 AntwortenThe release date is 2 years away the trailer probably doesn't represent the game that well. Personal opinion though, it'll probably be downgraded a lot.

8 AntwortenTwo things bother me about Anthem (well, three). 1) the game comes out in 2019, the same year as Destiny 3. Probably the same year as Death Stranding. 2) Anthem is billed as a full blown MMO and what I like about Destiny is that it is a shooter first and an RPG MMO second. 3) Bioware messed up Mass Effect Andromeda. The Frostbite engine was probably the wrong choice, and it's going to power Anthem too. I hope EA and Bioware learned their lesson.

Just because the reveal seems like Destiny, doesn't mean it'll be like Destiny. Maybe I'm wrong. But I have a nice feeling about this one.

The gameplay from Anthem look similar to the gameplay first released at E3 for destiny.
