As soon as a black person (or another skin color besides white) is put in it's automatically racist. But it's also racist if they're not included. Long story short. Racism always wins.

Devs aren't going to sit down and implement everyone's opinion into a game, it's their game, they do what they want with it. Diversity can also be a bad thing when it comes historic accuracy.

12 AntwortenAs an Indian person whose nationality is almost never represented in games, videogames are perfectly fine the way they are. There is no reason to force developers to stress and worry about the diversity in their games or accidentally offending a group of morons who don't need (or deserve) to be represented in a videogame. Learn to make to your own games if it bothers you so much.

If more women and non-white people want to be represented more in video games maybe they should become developers... How can you ask for diversity when most game developers are male and either Caucasian or Asian? Forcing diversity by shoehorning in "minorities" written by people outside of that perspective is the reason why it sucks when it does happen, or just completely racist. It's the same argument with women complaining there aren't enough females in the STIM fields, but still choosing Gender Studies, or something equally inane instead.

Who cares about diversity

1 AntwortenWhat a load of smuck.

13 AntwortenMind you, telling people how to write their stories intererests me none. What's right and wrong, these political messages, let it all fade into nothing. You have done quite enough, now, read my post. You're right. Well.. Partially.. There is a lack of diversity in games (excluding character creators of course), but it's not from skin color. While yes, it's not a bad thing to see a man with black skin as a protagonist, chances are if they just threw him in, for the sake of having him be black, it won't solve the bigger, underlying issue. Here, how about this. Booker DeWitt & Master Chief. Let's say Chief & Booker were in switched scenarios. Is there a single line that one said in their original media, that seems out of character for the other if they were in the same spot? I can't think of any. And that doesn't apply just to these two characters, this is a running theme. Developers seem to like to follow this archetype. I read an article a while back that explained it so much better (in fact this post is written kinda poorly), but.. The diversity games need isn't skin color, and while that wouldn't hurt, the real thing we need is for storywriters to simply use different archetypes, for their protagonists. Of course, as I said, I'm not into telling people how to write their stories. They want to stick with the generic protagonist that can be found all over the industry, they can go right ahead. I'm just saying, it'd be a breath of fresh air if the writers would use something different, but hey, the archetype is popular.

10 AntwortenMost people are white (and conservative.. atleast derived from offtopic) So it wasnt hard to predict the replies to your post. Its doing better now if you havent noticed. MEA and Prey are perfect examples.

1 AntwortenHoo boy. This is definitely the wrong place for that sentiment. People here already have a massive persecution complex. This only feeds that notion. Diversity is always great in games. But at the same time, developers shouldn't be forced to add diversity just for the sake of saying it. My main problem is when a game actually had diverse characters in a game in an organic manner and the trolls scream every alt-right cliche phrase from the rafters. That sentiment pretty much carries to any entertainment medium though.

1 AntwortenIf it bothers you that much make your own game. Be the change you want to see in the world.
-
1 Antworten
im not racist
You could convince Donald Trump to support the media with that kind of persuasive arguing.
-
7 AntwortenIf it bothers someone that much, then they wouldn't buy the game. That's the decision I make when a game does not include something I feel it should have. Spread that sentiment across a large populace that isn't opening up their wallets to get ::insert game:: and you're making a pretty big statement. If not though, well...it pretty much means it's not that crucial. If your main concern is people wanting to feel like they belong...in a video game...well...you got problems. It's an avatar in a video game...not a human walking around in a society. Get your perspective straightened out.

Yakuza series, GTA San Andreas, GTA IV, GTA V (1/3) ,mafia New Orleans, bayonetta, trapt, and I'm sure many more

6 AntwortenWhy not make a video game featuring a protagonist of your people and culture? Wouldn't doing so actually help solve the problem you've proposed?
-
6 AntwortenThere are so many games nowadays pushing customization it's ridiculous. We are way past the point of white males being the only character in gaming.
-
White people are the minority though

10 AntwortenDiversity? Alien races, people of every color in every game? Hell, even made up human races (the awoken).
