During the reveal today bungie stated all pvp modes were going to be 4vs4, while as a diehard halo fan I love 4v4 I don't want it in every playlist.
6vs6 means I can run with more friends and just goof around. Rumble means I can improve my gunskill in the 1vs1 battle that happen. Doubles is usually intense, close matches. 3vs3 shouldn't be forgotten either.
Why would all modes be 4s? Have them at a majority but include a 6vs6, 3vs3, rumble, doubles and maybe even 5vs5.
Or how about multi team? 3 teams of 4, or 4 teams of 3?
I really don't understand why they'd scrap something that worked for D1.
I thought with no old gen we'd even get a 8vs8, certainly not only smaller teams then D1 had.

I'm pretty sure 6v6 and higher will be added in future expansions, which is good I guess. But for now, it will be interesting how the majority of the playerbase will adapt to a 4v4 environment. Because using your brain in a much more competitive environment will be the standard now and as far as I can tell when playing pubs, people still don't know after all this time when to engage/run away, when to team shot, when to push (pushing the flanks for example) and especially when to try to spawn flip and when not. They will learn it the hard way eventually.

They're going for a more Halo/MLG scene - it was no surprise when they announced it. I'm personally not a huge fan of it seeing as it's removing the more carefree fun of a chaotic battlefield, to a more sweaty and focused one. Less people means less fun, especially when I can't run with a full team of six friends in the Crucible. We'll manage, and I'm sure they'll eventually have 6v6 modes sometime in the future.
-
Might as well be Trials 24/7. I mean if "the great Nike" can pub stomp with a full fire team of 6 people regularly then that type of player shouldn't have any issue having a four man team at all times. Wanna play trials every single Crucible match? For the average player this is going to be a huge deterrent to the crucible. (No offense to the "great" guy, just stating a fact w a real life example)

Yeah, while I am fine with the addition of 4v4, 6v6 game modes make up 80% of my Crucible time and I enjoy those modes quite a bit (mostly control and clash).
-
PvP in D1 is a mess because most maps are for 6v6 or for 3v3. That's why most PvP maps are horrible and unbalanced. GJ bungie on making all modes 4v4. It will be more fun and balanced.

8 AntwortenSo you just finisht the raid with someone you picked with the new clan system and a few clan members had a new raid weapon they want to try out in the crucible. Now who are you going to kick.. Sounds fun
-
Maybe, just maybe, it will be easier to monitor the ridiculous amount of cheating.
-
They're doing 4v4 because it doesn't stress the p2p connection as bad. With no dedicated servers, this is the best they could do to alleviate lag/latency. I hate the crucible but I did enjoy chaos of 6v6 mayhem. Now every match is going to be a sweat trials game.

7 AntwortenBearbeitet von HRH FURY: 5/19/2017 12:26:15 PMFFS Bungie! Where are the 2v2v2, 4v4v4, 12v12, and the 6v6v6! ...so they've been working on this BS for how long? We lose all of our shlt, so we can have no more "go to orbit" waits and better patrol adventures...really! And so much for the "stunning" armor set variations and "new" game play mechanics???? You would think the reveal would have hyped up some of that around this non-talked-about "new" game engine. No F'n dedicated PVP servers! And 30fps! ....what have these guys been doing? This "sequel" could have been much much more impressive. Destiny has such great potential, too bad it's in the hands of a bunch of clowns. I'm hoping that they really suck at marketing their new product and that I'm completely wrong...

Yes, please reconsider. 3-person based destiny activities with a 4-person based practice mode makes no sense lore-wise, or for practicality. After a raid we want to go and goof about together with our new stuff, which of my friends gets booted? Loads of new social networking tools and guardians to guide, but fewer team members in crucible, it seems like a bad joke. I was hoping for a 12 v 12 option, we already have more people than can fit in a private match on a Friday night. Instead we get this seriously limiting and nonsensical 4-person limit. It must be changed.
-
My guess is that they are trying to address the lag issue. 4v4 only means they can make smaller, less complicated maps, lowering the amount of data which has to be transmitted.
-
Well, if they would cough up the money for dedicated servers we could have all the standard playlists be 4v4, which is how it should have been from the beginning, and then they could throw in a large scale team battle mode that utilizes the vehicles.
-
I think it's gonna launch 4v4 team modes and 6 for rumble. They can always add bigger team modes later. Halo 5 players would remember that when it launched they really pushed the competitive arena type game modes but later added big team battle. I don't think 6v6 is completely ruled out yet.

11 AntwortenIt's about time PvP takes a back seat to the core advancement of Destiny! This will be a breath of fresh air to the people that pre-ordered D1 looking for an RPG/FPS! I hope this is the beginning of the end for PvP in Destiny. I'm sick and tired of PvP negatively impacting the PvE environment because people can't accept death in the Crucible.
-
If it's 4v4 it probably means the maps are going to be more focused on 4v4 arena type maps instead of the bigger, somewhat haphazard maps of the original. Should make for better doubles games as well should that be added.
-
Bungie hardly ever changes their minds, and if they do we must praise them and their heavenly father the traveler for taking and giving back.
-
I agree with this complete I love 4v4 but sometimes I have 5to6 friends on wanting to pvp.
-
-
Can you imagine 4v4 and then players quitting mid match like they do now?
-
Don't get your panties in a bunch. They didn't say it's ALL going to be that, there will probably still be Big Team Battle and Trials for variety. But let's be honest, if they build the maps correctly (which they usually do), then 4v4 will be perfect. All the Halo games were centered around 4v4's and those were hectic enough! Nowadays in Destiny 6v6 is just too hectic imho. It's like Mario Kart 8, one red shell is down, but here comes another. Very crowded. They playtest this stuff a lot, and those playtesters know what they're doing. It'll be fine
-
5 AntwortenThis is definitely the only concern I have at the moment. Now when 6 players want to play PvP with each other they can't. On good days I'm usually playing PvP with at least 6 people. ☹
-
4 AntwortenProbably because they want to try something new, if it was exactly like D1 then it wouldn't seem fresh and new
-
And I hate their reasoning for 4v4. "We want players to master it" "We want to cut back on lag" 4v4 doesn't do any of that, at all. Lag will still happen if a player has a shit connection. They could solve it by having a vote kick option where players in the match can vote kick a player with bad connection. 4v4 won't cause anyone to "master" anything. Especially when its elimination as they showed, how is 3v1 balanced? Stupid change for the sake of change and its lazy.
-
What this needs is a kotaku article lambasting the change as an obvious attempt to 'fix' the p2p/no dedicated servers/lag problems by Cutting Expectations, instead of actually fixing the problem. "D2 gets Crucible Downgrade" who else is cancelling pre-order until they make D2 Crucible better, not worse that D1?

5 AntwortenWhen they said they revamped pvp, I was thinking they were gonna have like 16v16...
