During the reveal today bungie stated all pvp modes were going to be 4vs4, while as a diehard halo fan I love 4v4 I don't want it in every playlist.
6vs6 means I can run with more friends and just goof around. Rumble means I can improve my gunskill in the 1vs1 battle that happen. Doubles is usually intense, close matches. 3vs3 shouldn't be forgotten either.
Why would all modes be 4s? Have them at a majority but include a 6vs6, 3vs3, rumble, doubles and maybe even 5vs5.
Or how about multi team? 3 teams of 4, or 4 teams of 3?
I really don't understand why they'd scrap something that worked for D1.
I thought with no old gen we'd even get a 8vs8, certainly not only smaller teams then D1 had.

3 AntwortenI definitely don't want to see 6v6 done away with, I'm not a competitive player but love crucible. I would like it if 6v6 was added as a rotating playlist i.e. Control, Clash , but to do away with it completely just seems like crucible is now just for competitive players and blocked off to people who like to get in and just have fun.

3 AntwortenAgreed, I don't understand why go backwards from 6v6 to 4v4. 6v6 IMO is still too small especially for a sequel that's meant to bigger and better than D1. From the gameplay I seen of the reveal the pvp maps are the same size as the maps in D1 but with less players. Only real reason for doing that is pure laziness and thinking your player base is stupid and will think the maps are bigger by decreasing the lobby. I play a lot of battlefield which has much bigger maps, up-to 64 players per lobby, destructible environments plus a great many more things. If Dice can do it why can't Bungie. Even battlefront which was a let down can do better than Bungies piss poor attempt at pvp. But that's my first impression from what I saw but waiting for the beta release to see whether it's good or not.

3 AntwortenEver played halo? Im sure there's going to be btb style game types and many other ones with more than 8 players, like everything in destiny, 4v4 is a test bed to see how the community reacts so they can tune or add to it

FFA will probably still be a thing, don't worry.

Word is that D2 will still be P2P without dedicated servers. One way to reduce the "appearance" of lag is to reduce the players. It's a cheap band-aid. But, I am with you... I cringed two times during the reveal... once during the "all PvP game modes will be 4v4" and once again during the "clans + guided games" part (I am a solo player who has to suffer with LFG and this guided games sounds like a train wreck). Like you, I used to love 4v4 in Halo, but I've really enjoyed 6v6 in Destiny. Again, I can't see a logical reason for doing this, except to sell us a "feature" as if it's awesome, but is really a poor attempt to reduce PvP lag.

I agree. I loved the halo days with 4v4 and it's cool to see it come into destiny. But 6v6 allows for a complete party. And I really hope that when they say ALL gamemodes, I hope that doesn't include trials.
-
2 AntwortenYou know what's -blam!-ed. Battlefield 1 runs smooth and beautifully on console with 60 fps with 16v16 and destiny 2 can't run 60 fps with 4v4. What the -blam!-?!
-
Remember when 8v8 was fun? I don't understand how people think 4v4 is a good mode, as an only mode. This game isn't made for Search And Destroy.
-
7 Antworten"something that worked for d1" it didn't work for d1. it was trash. 6s sucked, that's why the majority of pvp players only get on for trials anymore. 4v4 is the heart of competitive and how it should've been from day 1.
-
I'm trying to be optimistic. At the beginning of Halo Reach, there was no 8v8 either despite being a Halo 3 mainstay. It was just 4s and 6s. BTB was added in later. Hopefully that's the case here: 4v4 at launch with other group comps in future updates based on feedback and whatever metrics they get from observing the infrastructure.

Bearbeitet von WulfPak666: 5/20/2017 4:05:54 PMI guess they knew they couldn't do anything to fix their servers so they figured, "if we cut the amount of players per game, it'll run better." I also like how some of these YouTubers were saying how good the PvP felt for the D2 reveal.. yet they were all on LAN :/ But that doesn't really work either, since Trials has been 3v3 and that has some of the worst connection issues aside from IB in the game. Still, I will reserve all judgement until the game is in my hands.

Is there really no rumble at all?
-
I bet that all the pvp maps gonna be small ones. That's why.
-
Maps are way too crowded with 6v6. This is a good change
-
In sure its not going to be every single playlist we get. Its just going to be the majority like 6v6 is now.
-
They already took things in and out of rotation throughout D1's life span. I would hope just because the game starts at 4v4 that doesn't mean it stays that way the entire time. Sprinkle in some combined arms or 6v6 iron banner hopefully

Bearbeitet von DarthUriah84: 5/19/2017 5:51:45 PMIt will also cause you to come up against more teams that are complete fire teams. Better for clans much worse for lone wolfs.

Please reconsider. Match 4v4game mode only for countdown. Just not all matches.

1 AntwortenI agree 100% I don't care for small group PvP. I just don't like it. I much prefer 6v6. It's just more fun to me. Hell, I'd rather see them go the OPPOSITE direction. Let's see 16v16!!
-
I think they are trying to compensate for the lag in 6v6 games. It seems they are not going to upgrading networking at all. P2P is still the primary and from how much bungie has been avoiding the details, i wouldn't be surprized if theyve carried over the same network structure from D1. Combining that with all the newer aspects of D2, 6v6 would be lag central.

1 AntwortenAgreed. 4 v 4 in all game modes is lame. Fix the crummy match making and get some dedicated servers. If you did that 6 v 6 wouldn't be the red bar convention it typically is.
-
i have wanted like 10v10 or 15v 15 clan wars! that would be sweet but 4v4 is a nice number but for every thing? not right

This was, I think, the only thing that disappointed me in the launch presentation. Coming from a Killzone background I was disappointed with this iteration of Destiny and 6v6. I'd have liked 12 v12 or more. I wonder if the decision is based on matchmaking issues or a desire not to upset the special snowflakes (god forbid a poor player shouldn't finish in the position they deserve)
