Sound off in the comments, as I would like to see what the community thinks about this.
For me, ToC has ruined any excitement I used to get out of getting an Exotic drop. After TTK, Exotics stopped feeling rare and elusive and they now just feel like glorified legendaries. I understand that ToC was made to counter frustrating RNG, and I'm not defending the loot system in year 1. But if you think about it, Exotics aren't really hard to get even if you take ToC out of the game.
Let's think here.
You can get Exotics from Nightfalls, Raid encounters/chests, the Trials Lighthouse chest, Legendary engrams, Xur, and Exotic quests. I probably forgot some but you get my point.
Edit: I didn't get a chance to finish the post since I had to go to class, so I'll finish this.
If we did not have ToC, then Exotics would feel more Exotic, but they also wouldn't be unreasonably elusive.
Edit 2: I'm not saying we should go back to the loot system in year 1, I'm saying we should get rid of ToC.
Edit 3: nigel_the_mole actually proposed a pretty good idea. He said this:
Well, there are two kinds of exotics:
1. Those that only come from 1 source (eq, a quest line, or raid drop), and,
2. Exotics that can drop from many sources (e.g., chests, RNG, 3ofC, Xur, etc).
I'll agree that 3ofC had devalued the second pool. There were very few, if any, I got originally from 3ofC. (Had all the Exotics prior to 3ofC release, and can only specifically recall 1 of the newer ones from 3ofC. Possibly a few more, but not many.)
3ofCs basically was first a road to max light, then a shard factory, then a "why even bother."
But group 1 I actively pursued.
I'd say, for D2, I'd like to see the first group be much bigger.
More quest Exotics. More "achievement" Exotics.
Fewer in the second group.
I realize this makes for essentially two classes of exotics (the "hard" ones vs the "easy" ones), but this division already exists. But it allows casual players to get some without having to do specific efforts, and the better stuff to be a bit more effort to achieve.
TL;DR - more exotics from quests or specific points in raids.
3 AntwortenYou shouldn't be limited to only one exotic piece of armor/ weapon at a time.

before how dropped I had all year 1 exotics. after ttk the exotics where questified as well as nerfed to not being useful. That ruined the excitement more imo. Three of coins has only provided shards and light level ups.

I don't mind 3oC as long as it's only a few exotics...I think people take for granted that a casual player will struggle to get many exotics without them and bungie needs to market to them also. Ive picked this account back up after not playing since year 1 on it and I've put in many hours since Sunday and I only have 3 exotics: YWH, Gjally, and Nova Mortis. All quests...I think it's fine the way it is, keep challenging quest lines for many exotics but also have a system like 3oC for others.

I for one, feel 100% with the argument of this post. Whilst the idea of Three's were a very sought after assistance to help players be granted with Legendary gear, I do think the effects of ToC were nullified upon release of "Rise of Iron". Upon RoI's release, we were challenged with Quests, whether it be continuously triumphant in the Crucible, or ravaging an enemy faction in the Solar System, it made getting certain exotics feel more of an honor than a chore. Unfortunately, with the release of ToC in Year 2, this presented issues with certain community members posting videos to YouTube on methods to quickly farm Exotic engrams with different missions, such as the
Scourge of Winter mission on Venus.
While this did present the community with a new basis in which to obtain Exotics, I too believe that they are now just glorified legendaries, and that with the release of the second installment of Destiny, Exotics should be reverted to a higher rarity so-as to make each and every Exotic drop feel like an honor. Don't get me wrong though, whether they pull a similar loot system in Destiny 2 or not, I do really hope that Questlines and Endgame activities will be primary ways to obtain these signature weapons again. -

Bearbeitet von RichGhost77: 4/20/2017 5:32:26 PMRemove that crap. Make reset day great again! And to anyone saying just don't use them: Bollox, that's like putting freshly baked pizza in front of me and saying just don't eat it! And change those stupid kiosks too. I want to collect duplicates, not just buy another one....kiosks should be single purchase only, to guard against accidental deletion/vault space saving. 👍

1 AntwortenI'm all for the removal of 3oC in the future. They completely ruined the experience of getting an exotic. In year 1, I remember getting my first Gally. My first Icebreaker. How Hard Light eluded me for a long time. Year 2 and 3... Not so much. The majority of my new exotics either came from quest lines (which is perfectly fine, keep that up) or from engrams. It's kind of sad thinking that Rahool is my primary source of new exotics. I enjoy the RNG exotics, so I hope they don't give every exotic a quest. But I don't want to get my exotics from Rahool either, not as a primary source anyway. I think certain exotics should have a chance from coming from certain activities so you have slightly more control over the RNG. Sort of like year 3 Icebreaker. I like how it comes from a specific bounty, but it might take a few weeks to actually get it. I hope the incorporate more ideas like that, but maybe throw a couple more exotics into each loot pool. Basically we need viable methods of obtaining exotics that aren't as free and easy as 3oC, and Bungo has multiple routes they could take to achieve this

If that will make you stop crying then yes they should be removed. We want you to feel comfortable

Didn't read. Don't care. Remove that crap. Upvotes for days, bro.
I can only give you one upvote, but just pretend like it was a lot.
Exotics are piece of crap now so no point in using 3oC. The argument should be about fixing the exotics not on how to get them. FWIW, I joined a team on LFG who were doing crota 390 with blue crap just for the laughs and got as far as bridge with it. Go figure!

1 Antworten3oC always felt like a useless extra mechanic to me. They aren't exactly rare, and using them before every boss/ PVP match is more of an additional hassle than anything else. Slightly decrease exotic drop rate and have strike and raid bosses instead always have a chance to drop an exo when you beat them (maybe with a cooldown or add a D3 like mechanic that the chances for an exo drop increase every x minutes without a drop)
-
Bump. Get rid of xur and 3oc

1 AntwortenTotally agree. As much a grind as it was for gear back in year 1 I miss it. The thrill of getting an exotic maybe once a week was brilliant!!
-
ToC is good to have but i do agree that they should be removed for the time being because it does ruin the experience of getting an exotic while doing activites. Think about it people are just going to get three of coins and grind a boss over and over untill they have every exotic. What Bungie can do is bring ToC later on in Destiny 2 because by then the exotics have increased. Why should they have ToC if there is like only a handful of exotics in the vanilla game it will go by fast.
-
3oC are great.

1 AntwortenRemove Xur period.

Exotics never felt special to me unless they had a use. The swords for example. Even in y1 when i got ghally i left it in the vault until crota came out. I didnt see any use for it. Just because a weapon is rare doesnt make it special.
-
If you dont like them dont use them.
-
2 AntwortenI feel that all exotics should have a quest behind them.

Lol....No.

Solution
don't use them
3oCs are a weird thing. It seems like the only way to get an exotic is by using 3oC. When I started my new characters on PS4, it was apparent what the difference was between y1 and y2. As a y1 XB1 player I didn't feel the need to grind for strange coins to buy 3oCs, but as a y2 PS4 player, 3oCs and SCs became my main focus. I have to admit, once I had a decent 3oCs stockpile I started to acquire a ton of exotic weapons and armor very quickly. I don't know what the answer to the 3oCs issue is, and it is an issue. Part of me feels like 3oCs are a nice "catch up" mechanic. But I also feel like 3oCs are masking some other issue with the RNG. We all know there are certain weapons or armor pieces that seem to never drop, despite 3oCs. The problem with making exotics available in only a few high level activities is, people might only play those activities and players who can't level high enough to get into those activities might just give up on the game. Tough situation.

Bearbeitet von Jonnnys: 4/20/2017 3:58:50 PMYes please. They killed the grind, the hope of getting an exotic you needed at the end of each activity has gone. Plus the fact it's far too easy to increase light with exotics.
-
I have never had a exotic engram drop ever in strikes until 3oC came around just say you want rng to come back from year 1 so we can get people like my friend who didnt get his ghorn until 1 week before xur sold it
-
Why if you don't like them don't use them also lets not forget how bungie's nerfs have made many exotics feel legendary
