Edit: I could NOT BE ANY HAPPIER WITH THIS POST. We've been top 5 trending for several hours. Lots of opinions and conversations flowing. Salt has been kept at a wonderfully low level. I love when the community can come together and really talk things out. This is what destiny needs, and I'm so thankful and proud of every one here for being so passionate about the game we all love! GGs everyone.

So, lets talk about the sidearm, and it's overbearing presence in the crucible.
First off I'd like to state the obvious fact that sidearms are NOT OP and were quite rare before the update, aside from nlb users, and our dear friends TrueVanguard and Kjhovey.
Their TTK's range from a minimum of .6 to a maximum of .96 dependant on archetype and headshots landed. As impressive as that sounds their range holds them in a balanced position as powerful short ranged duelers, meant for back up and shotgun countering purposes, and work exactly as they should.
Now, and this is only my opinion, the distaste for sidearms at the moment isn't because of their power, it's simply that the ammo economy forces us into using them. A sidearm has the ability to over power any primary with ease, within its optimal range.
When you have no special, being a common occurrence in the current state of things, you are simply at a disadvantage to a sidearm user.
Ammo persists, more ammo is reimbursed on respawn if empty, and as it seems all this points to MORE slaying potential. This forces many into a position of "use this or do worse."
Did you enjoy being an aggressive sniper, despite the horrid nerfs? A shotty warrior maybe? Maybe you were that elusive fusion main who loves to go for crazy plan c swaps, or cross map people with a saladins. Maybe you feel upset that your aggressive playstyles were almost taken from you entirely, especially in the 6v6 playlist. You have every right to be. Because forcing someone into a style of gameplay they don't enjoy IS NOT BALANCE. It is a lazy and unprofessional attempt to stir the pot.
Bad move bungie. You may have forced primary fights, but you've removed a large portion of the fun for many.
Aliens
They're balanced, they've pretty much always been like this, it's just Bungie made it more prominent with Bungie's new special ammo (insert good weather term here) Making them more prominent as they don't lose any ammo.

1 AntwortenThey suck. I've never liked Sidearms. I miss my fusion rifles. Enough said.

I just think that instead of losing all special ammo on death, you just lose all your reserve ammo. Cause why should I lose ammo already loaded in the gun, you know? Other than that, I think 6v6 is in a pretty solid place. There's probably a few other tweaks more experienced PvP players could point out but that's all I see as a major issue.
Health regen perks being nerfed is dumb, too. AND WHY THE HECK WAS BLINK NERFED EVEN MORE? MAKE BLINK GREAT AGAIN BUNGO PLZ.
1 AntwortenMy buddy is pissed because he's been using NOTHING but No Land and Jabberhäkke-d for like the past year or something and now that load out has become very common

It s great. It s just great. It s the most great i ve seen, trust me. It s great
let s see who gets it
5 AntwortenAll they had to do was buff primaries. Unfortunately, they are incapable of buffing weapons.

I don't mind sidearm at all. It feels like a gun fight to me.

1 AntwortenThe problem with sidearms aren't the stats it's the arch types and how it's used compared to other specials. Shotguns- short range Fusion: medium range Sniper: long range Sidearms are just there. They really have no use other than its another type of weapon. Which isn't bad, but it will be hard to balance if you are trying to make it stand out as a weapon, i.e different use.

8 AntwortenBearbeitet von haphazardlynamed: 2/21/2017 2:01:31 AMI feel like the Fire Rate with Sidearms is Too Fast for a semi-auto weapon. it means in order to be effective, you have to 'trigger spam' 'fan the trigger' whatever you want to name it. And it's really pushing the limit as to what's humanly possible or Healthy for the fastest RoF ones. (tendonitis, repetitive motion injuries, arthritis anyone?) It's a videogame, the physical limits of the Player's muscles shouldn't be a determining factor.

A team of 3 with trespassers in trials. Ewwww. Too much for me and my good ol LDR and 1000 k stare

As a fan of Sidearms, it sounds like a meta I finally work with seeing how most of my loot is side arms. However, with my controller broken I have been offline since before the patch. While to me and my play style/normal loot drops it sounds good on paper but I haven't tested it.

1 AntwortenVESTIAN Dynasty for days, Og sidearm user. Although the teacup looks pretty nice and I might tea bag peeps when I kill them...
-
1 AntwortenNLB, IceBreaker, Sidearms aren't OP or broken. Problem is Bungie out them in a spot where they feel like they are. Go watch Datto's latest video and he pretty much hits the nail on the head.
-
I starts using Sidearms when ROI dropped and have absolutely loved using them ever since. As you say their range falloff is what keeps them in check. Other specials are still viable though, I still continue to be sniped despite the new special ammo economy. Fusions are just as usable against Sidearms as well, a well aimed voop will shut down any Sidearm user.

2 AntwortenOpinion on using sidearm: Boring af.
-
1 AntwortenEveryone wanted primaries buffed. So they made Sidearms a primary. Done.
-
Make it so that players only lose a percentage of their special upon start of each following round/ or per death; instead of resetting to 0 at the beginning of each round. Nothing needs to be done to the sidearm type of weapon. BELOW IS MY OPINION OF THE REST OF PATCH YEAR 3.2 (please dont burn me for having an opinion) - lol The primary patch was perfect; nailed it on the "T". health regen nerf was a little petty on Bungie's part due to the fact that it impacted the health regen of striker titans upon shoulder charge. This nerf was necessary for Bladedancer subclasses for the hungering blade. The one , and only valid arguement to this, is because bladedancer was able to tank through many of the opponents in a row without risk to losing the fight when odds shouldn't be in their favor.
-
2 Antwortenthe problem is sidearms are stronger than primaries, same with other special weapons, but instead of buffing primaries they basically just took away special ammo. terrible fix.
-
The only sidearm I ever enjoyed using was dregs promise...I tried the trespasser but I still prefer fusion rifles even with the loss of ammo when I die. It's a special weapon it should be treated as such lol
-
You wanna guess what name my GT is based off of?
-
sidearms are only being overused right now because people dont know how to use primary weapons. they are broken right now with how they keep their ammo that you pick up. you should only respawn with minimum ammo, not all the ammo youve picked up. even then i think the mag and reserve ammo should be nerfed so they can only kill maybe 1 or 2 people. sidearms are supposed to be used as "oh i ran out with my primary so let me very quickly switch to my sidearm and put a few into them quickly" they shouldnt be able to be used in place of a primary

Best way to make pvp fun again is play with you're friends in private matches. Done 6v6 elimination today for the first time. Most fun I had in the game in months! Best part about it, 90% of the people I play with share similarities in play style (sniping). I didn't worry about shot gun warriors and nobody cares too much about sidearms. Regular pvp isn't as fun anymore. Tired of thinking about special ammo and being forced to use a side arm or icebreaker.
