Maybe I am just not paying attention, but it seems women are less vocal in the Destiny community.
I would like to know everyone's thoughts on the matter.
1. How does Destiny encourage/discourage the participation of women?
2. How has sex and gender played a role in how people interact in this community?

This might be the dumbest forum post I've ever seen.

I heard if you make your character female you earn 30% less glimmer

2 AntwortenTake it this is for an essay?

1 Antworten1. They do but you just don't see it. 2. They have better things to do. 3. They're playing the game. 4. Every gamer is different. The people who have the most to say usually will be the loudest.

1 AntwortenWhat exactly is the point of this?

1 AntwortenHow to catch a predator ^ Or How to potentially get date with a destiny dame 1. Come to b.net when player moral and population are at all time lows. 2. Make SJW related material to trigger conversation. 3. Check for "where all muh girls at" posts when there are literally plenty of resources to confirm there are a ton of female gamers everywhere. Not just in destiny.
just teasing a little but seriously, c'mon dude. Try harder or maybe not so hard. I don't know.
4 AntwortenThis topic is irrelevant. All guardians look the same after a shotgun to the face. Man woman who cares.

1 AntwortenUmmm, how can you tell if the player is male or female? You cannot go by their gamertag or character gender selection. You cannot hear their voice, there are no pictures (even then, pedophiles use false pictures all the time.)

18 AntwortenI'm not super enthused about speaking because when I do, dudes always want to tell me about their dangly bits. Just because I happen to have a female body, it doesn't mean I want to hear constant flirting or how big your bits are. In fact, that's a good way to get blocked. I just wanna play the friggin game and blow things up with space magic. I don't do a whole lot of cooperative stuff because of this. It's not just in Destiny, either.

6 AntwortenI know tons of women on here, most just aren't vocal because....well.......i don't wanna say that "all guys are pigs" but I can safely say "99% of guys are pigs" lol.

1 AntwortenPlenty play, but these forums are infested with trolls and kids that say the most insulting and stupid things, so why would they even want to talk to anyone in here? Lol
-
4 AntwortenThe forum is toxic to mentioning your gender. If a player mentions they are a girl when asking for help, it gets trolled pretty fast. So don't expect them to be vocal unless they've got a thick skin within the forum community. As for the actual gaming community they are out there, enjoying the game only chooosing to turn on the mic when they know it's not a squeeker, seems like the squeakers become stalkers in a hurry

3 AntwortenLook to the fiasco that was Dames of Destiny Day.

9 AntwortenGender shouldn't matter but it does. Oh how I could tell you of the times I've been asked personal questions or talked down to just because I'm a girl. Just like everything else in the world, sports, politics or games, these society has told us are for men. Gamers assume they are playing with other guys which has created a "male" mentality in gaming. Often the question: did your boyfriend get you into destiny? comes up. No, he's not my boyfriend. No, I have twice as many hours as my male friends. No, I'm not looking for a relationship with someone I've only talked to for an hour when neither of us even know how old each other is. I'm looking to play a game! Some women do not feel welcome in chats that would judge them based on their name or more often their voice. I can't count the times I've been called a "squeaker" and even been kicked for just saying "hi". Which is why to this day, I feel anxiety when I join a lfg raid team. Some days I can tell them all to shut up and watch me solo this. But having to defend myself everyday is not a happy existence. Needless to say, not all gamers are like this. I've also met many great players, some now on my friends list some not, who generally don't care who you are as long as you can play. A lot of gamers are like this but it's the few bad apples that ruin the whole barrel. So many gamers don't make others feel welcome in their Fire teams. Stop raging and try being nice for once. It's a game, raid, etc that we all want to beat. Or here's a thought: try being respectful to others.

1 AntwortenI do wonder where the females are Of all the people I've met on Destiny since launch I have met 3 women.

Bearbeitet von Ahhsenberg: 2/14/2017 5:35:42 PMBecause there aren't as many that waste time with such things as guys? They tend to be busy making that stream/YT money or just quietly playing the game.

4 AntwortenBecause they don't want to deal with little Tim and his gang of squeakers. Me personally idc because I ignore everyone anyway male or female. Just me.
