As the title says, should Vader get his own film? Many audience members don't know anything about him other than he's Anakin and he's 'evil' now. Disney has the chance to expand and show off the character never before seen in film.
Vader could actually be a villain that many could sympathize with. We could have a movie that has badass saber fights, and a new Star Wars film that has more than 10 minutes of character development. So I mean why the hell now? There's plenty of stories about Vader hunting the last remaining Jedi
So, what do you think?
Edit: The Prequels were about Anakin's fall from grace. Darth Vader is a completely new side of him. As for how someone could sympathize with him, this should showcase that well. We don't get this kind of emotion and view of Vader in the films.

I want to, but it will never happen sadly.

9 AntwortenNo thanks, I don't want Vader to be "relatable". He's a monster — cruel, calculating and relentless. I feel like a Vader movie would fail for one of three reasons. 1) They play Vader up as the misguided villain who is manipulated by the emperor. Sure, the emperor used him to do his dirty work but Vader was completely on board with it. Making him out as a puppet would just serve to make Vader appear weak. 2) They attempt to "develop" his character by emphasizing just how evil he is. This would essentially amount to little more than an exploitation film. We already know he's the bad guy and we already know why he's feared. Spending an entire film re-emphasizing that point might be visually appealing but would serve no real purpose. 3) They show Vader as conflicted; he believes in the dark side, but has his doubts. Again, this weakens him. It lessens his resolve and makes Luke's final appeal to him less meaningful. Sure, we could see a moment if weakness folliwed by him going full blown dark side, but that was already done in Revenge of the Sith. Vader should be hated and feared. A movie with him as the protagonist would only detract from that or amount to very little. He makes a great Villain and side character, but I don't think he'd be a good choice as the main one.

8 AntwortenInstead of Vader, let's get someone we actually want a movie for: Boba Fett. Let's be real, he didn't do -blam!- and he he died by accident, he needs a movie

Bearbeitet von shell: 12/23/2016 2:29:53 AMThe movies never really explored who Darth Vader really was. They skipped the character development found in the EU. Since many fans ignore the EU, his conflicted and reflective personality is underappreciated. Not to mention that he is a total badass in the video games and comics. He never really shows off what he can do in the movies.

2 AntwortenHave you watched the films? He was the main character...
-
Yes, and for a few reasons; 1. Stories where the bad guy is the/a protagonist are almost always interesting if done right. 2. Vader is badass 3. Vader had some very interesting stories in the EU.
-
Well. It would be interesting to see one that fills in the blanks between 3 and 4. Like what he did when he wasn't raising Starkiller or probably looking for where the Empire misplaced it's SUN CRUSHER
-
If it would show him being a bad ass then yes. None of the movies do him justice. The books are way better
-
Yes! This is one Star Wars film I'd actually watch
-
As long as there isn't stupid flips every scene
-
Too many people see him as an arsehole (a badass one) thanks to the prequels. I definitely think we need to see that it wasn't just that moment in the last movie that he showed his true emotions.
-
He should get more scenes where he just goes beast mode.
-
2 AntwortenI want boba gets freakin movie.

Disney just needs to remake the prequels with actually good characters/actors and story. Disney has the framework for the prequels. They just need to be moved around and remove a some things. Like JarJar and little Anakin terrible kid actor. Keep the republic and palatine's rise to power. Give Anakin more reason to join the dark side other than, "I'm an emo teen, blah blah blah." Keep the clones because everyone likes the clones. Keep ObiWan. Idk. Disney can work out the details. Just remake the prequels into something not cringe worthy garbage.

1 AntwortenHe has enough screen time already imo. Plus it's possible that a whole movie about him could be too much Vader, I mean maybe like another movie with him having a cameo and kicking some ass would be good.
on a kinda unrelated note unless they pull off something amazing I'm really not interested in the "young Han Solo" movie
-
I think it'd be interesting to see a sort of "transition" movie. See Anakin fading away into Vader, etc.

1 Antworten*cough* prequels *cough*

1 AntwortenAll these people commenting don't understand much about Star Wars 😑 There is so much more to Vader than what we saw in the movies that you casuals should see
-
1 AntwortenI'm all for it, but what does he do besides walk around and choke people with the occasional swing of the lightsaber to block some blaster shots? Is there any existing material showing him on a mission of some sort where he's more animated?

Bearbeitet von ChiefDevilEggs: 12/21/2016 6:46:27 AMI say they should keep his appearances short and sweet as they have been. Those kind of chilling scenes cement his image as the Boogey Man of Star Wars...

2 AntwortenYou guys need more reason to sympathize with vader? You do realize thats what the prequel trilogy was for right? If you bothered to actually watch those movies you'd see how incompetent the jedi council was and that they drove anakin to the dark side with their hypocrisy. The dude just wanted to live with and love his wife and children and the jedi refused to accept that only telling him that he should let go of everything he's ever cared for. You're supposed to sympathize and identify with the dark side because, presumably, you give a shit about someone or something else

8 AntwortenHe already has three of them. .-.

Bearbeitet von PhreshBrotha: 12/21/2016 1:22:40 AMThey should just make a franchisecalled "GoPro Vader". Make it about 5 movies worth of POV Vader footage. I want to see how well he does in the battle against IBS.

1 AntwortenHaven't they milked Vadar, Luke, the Death Star and smuggled plans in Droids enough already? Can't we get a completely new Star Wars story, with the size of the expanded universe it's not TOO much to ask for, right?
