I found a way to buy Exotic Shards
I've heard lots of people say that they want Xur to sell Exotic Shards. Say that they need them to infuse Exotic Weapons to a higher attack. But, I've finally figured out not one way, but TWO
1. On the weekend, when Xur comes, you find him and go over. Then, you spend 13 Strange Coins and buy a piece of exotic armor. You use some Motes until all the upgrades are unlocked. Then, you unequip it and hold SQUARE (not sure on Xbox) until it's gone. You'll get TWO Exotic Shards. This only costs 13 Strange Coins and some Motes of Light!!!
2. Go to the Tower, and head towards the Hall of Guardians. Once you enter it, turn left or right, and go to the Exotic Kiosk. You can buy a weapon (or some armor) and level it up with Motes of Light! I recommend buying a weapon that you already have, because that only costs Glimmer, not Legendary Marks. Level it up, then dismantle it, and BAM. Another 2 Exotic Shards
Obviously, this is not a serious post. Everyone knows this stuff. But really. If you want Exotic Shards, just do this

It takes a lot of motes to level up armour, I wouldn't recommend using those to dump into armour for 1 extra shard. If you want to convert strange coins directly to shards you could buy the armour and just break it down for the 1. Or you could buy 3 of coins. For 14 strange coins u should get 1 or 2 exotics which would break down into as many shards or give u some good infusion fuel/new gear. The kiosks are by far the way to go and they arent reliant for on Xur being around. But limit it to buying a rocket launcher. Truth or Dragons breath (pretty sure gjally takes more motes). They take by far the least motes to level (8 normally, 6 with heavy telemetry or class item perk). Other weapons take more and armour takes a lot more than that with no additional gain.

Lol just get an exotic heavy. Without a heavy telemetry it takes around 8 motes to get all nodes. With a heavy telemetry it takes around 6. Truth works best and this method is by far better than getting the chest pieces.

Helps to equip a class armor that correlates to the exotic piece you wish to upgrade. Takes less motes of light that way.

A lot of people already get exotic shards by using the kiosks. One of the best ways is to buy a heavy weapon telemetry and use it first. Buy a year 2 heavy weapon (1 exotic shard and 2500 glimmer) and then it only takes 6 motes of light to fill all the circles for the level up. Don't actually spend any money or materials to unlock the perks on the weapon. You can then dismantle it and get 2 exotic shards, 2-3 motes and about 250 glimmer If you have max glimmer before you start then you can get about 11 exotic shards before you run out of glimmer

It's easier to just buy Truth off of the wall and upgrade it with 6 or 7 motes of light then dismantle

Make sure the weapon doesn't have a collapsed perk tree like Gjally, or you'll only get 1 shard
