SBMM makes it so hard for players to get their kd up. You play well for like 3-5 games and get a 2.0-4.0 kd in each of those games, the next couple games u get .5 kd and get wrecked. Or u have lots of games a little above or below ur current kd.
It's such a slow progression getting ur kd up. You are either trending upwards little by little or trending downwards little by little.
I'm really just curious on how SBMM works. Matchmaking in destiny is so weird. I just don't get it....
Do they base it on?
1. Kill/Death Ratio
2. Time Played
3. Win/Loss Ratio
4. Total kills
5. DTR
6. Elo
7. Combat Rating
8. Medal Count
9. Charecter or Account Bound
10. Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Or Since you created your charecter
I think I listed enough things to get my point that there are so many different ways destiny could value "skill".....
So my question is, What does destiny base SBMM on?
Do they take these "skill" values from last couple matches, last week, month, year, or do these values start from your very first match?
Finally, does destiny separate "skill" on each charecter or is it account bound?
Oh yea almost forgot....
Does Destiny base SBMM on Party Leader, an average of everyone in party, the highest "skilled" player, the lowest "skilled" player?
IT REALLY WOULD BE NICE TO KNOW THIS BUNGIE...
Thanks I appreciate it in advance...
Not really a fan of SBMM but I understand that SBMM exists so new and/or less skilled players have a chance to improve and learn how to play.
Players that just started in year 2 would be at a huge disadvantage to year 1 players, since they already played tons of games and have lots of experience.

thx 4 all the replies
Edit # 2-
I doubt bungie will say anything cause people might abuse that info. 99% of us would just deal w it....almost every day I see posts of players saying they hate SBMM but we all understand y they have it...I just think they can go about it in a different way.
I bet the amount of PVP players has went up since SBMM was introduced. SBMM allows players on any skill level to slowly progress. Except the top 1% op players.
More players that PVP=More $$$$$$
Whoever put SBMM in the game has his mind made up and it is here to stay. Tons of people post daily get rid of SBMM and never one response to change or compromise.
It's obvious SBMM slowly helps players get better and keeps everyone playing.
It's frustrating that almost every game is sweaty. To do well you have to be focused at all times, use certain meta weapons, which is only a few, and not try new things. U obviously can try new set ups and weapons but most likely u won't do as well. I know u can do private matches but most players want to get rewards when pvping.
Edit # 3-
Maybe we can have a SBMM playlist, A "newbie playlist for people who just bought game, and a Non SBMM playlist or a CBMM playlist.
Make each playlist have different rewards, so players don't always choose Non SBMM playlist.
1. Newbie Playlist- Once u get over a number of kills/wins u "graduate" to other playlists
2. SBMM playlist
3. Non SBMM playlist or CBMM (connection based) playlist
I think it would be really fun to play games with all different types of skilled players like in year 1.
Let me know what y'all think

2 AntwortenI don't know, but playing this weekend with people in IB and trials, lots of them are saying how much they are starting to hate Destiny Not good considering no new content is scheduled

From observing I'm pretty sure it's based on kd. Oh and highly geared towards that of the fireteam leader

1 AntwortenI think that there is SBMM, and it's probably K/D based, but it's deliberately varied. Expert players regularly complain about SBMM because they like games where they get thrown a bunch of cupcakes and get to stomp them. Games where you dominate are the most fun. Problem is, the only way these matches can occur is if someone gets stomped. So, I think the matchmaking system is created with some variability in it, possibly incorporating CBMM. Some matches, you get put in with people above your level, and get humiliated. Some matches are essentially fair, and all players finish with comparable scores. And in some games, you are completely dominant.

SBMM is AIDS

1 AntwortenI thought that people didn't want sbmm because it prioritises skill instead of connection which causes more lag? Anyway I'm sure there is a mixture of stats in the lobbys you are matched in because the PVP is rigged so there is a high likelyhood of a 50% win/loss ratio.
-
4 AntwortenIts based on combat rating btw but idk if its party leaders or fireteams average combat rating when it comes to fireteams though.
-
1 AntwortenIts actually a mix between CBMM and SBMM. They recently increase the weight of CBMM. You don't want it to be fully one side, trust me. SBMM = lag, CBMM = no variety in play and long loading times.

2 AntwortenI play crucible alot, top 6% playtime on the leaderboards. I am just gonna say it, there is no sbmm. I would call it balanced based matchmaking, bbmm. Skill level is used in this process, but only to balance. The game wants you at 50% win ration(bungie "this is what we intended") And it wants you at a 1.0 KD("") So if it's time for a loss, you get stuck with low skill players. If it's time to lower that KD, you get put against sweaty people. If I had to guess which stat they use for skill, I would say combat rating. Most of my crucible stats are up there, but my combat rating is not one. And judging by the competition I get, that would be my guess.

Dedicated servers. Then sbmm is fine by me.

23 AntwortenBearbeitet von acousticsoul22: 11/11/2016 7:57:25 PMHere is something that I experienced. Read it if you wish. During the Iron Banner before Rise of Iron, I was helping a buddy on their account run some bounties because they were out of town. At the time, they had a .5 and .6 k/d on the two characters that I ran. I have between a 1.0-1.1 k/d so I am not good by any means, but I have a higher skill level than my friend. The first match I played, I ended with a 2.0+ k/d. I was stomping the people, presumably because I was playing people in a lower skill bracket than what I am used to. However, after a few 1.5-2.0+ games, my k/d started falling. My experience is that because I was performing well in those games, I started to be put against higher skilled players. It is possible that it is not based on average k/d but on recent games. Back to my characters. I am all over the place when it comes to my k/d, leading me to have a solid 1.0/1.1. There are times where I am getting pub stomped and then all of a sudden, I'm doing the pub stomping. I truly believe that it is based on recent games. If you start doing well for an extended period of time, you are placed into a higher bracket. If you start doing really bad for an extended period of time, you will be put into a lower skill bracket. I don't know if this is true, but just my experience. Anybody also experience this?

1 AntwortenBased on making sure that you don't solo que.

Everyone assumes that it's 1 thing. It could be game scores, k/d, in game elo and combat rating that all go into a magical statistical equation to pop out a percentile that they slap a -/+ on to provide you match making.
-
1 AntwortenThey won't answer unfortunately because once people know what the determining factor is, the players will try and manipulate it.

Can't have SBMM without dedicated servers!
-
The answer is RNG.
THE ANSWER IS ALWAYS RNG!!!
-
It's based on combat rating in your stats not k/d. I have a pretty decent combat rating so when I play by myself it's a struggle to maintain a positive k/d. When I play with my friends who have a lower combat rating I dominate the noobs.
-
3 AntwortenIn parties the matching is an average of all the players but the best players rating is weighted slightly heavier.

So many people hate sbmm...but I'm torn because I want cbmm..but I also don't want to be run thru crucible all easy...but I see why people hate it...o feel like skill based has all the red bar players..or is it just me?

SBMM is AIDS and should not be in a game this ddamn laggy.
