TLDR
Bungies current content seems to be lacking, and they just seem to be removing any and all motivation to continue playing once you reach endgame content. Trials is supposedly rife with cheaters, Iron Banner no longer has rank packages, the raid is super easy, and there's only one. Why? Why Bungie?
Edit 1: before you say i should play another game, i already am. Im playing skyrim. So stop recommending i play a different game.
and anyways, thats kinda the point of thsi post anyways. It feels like bungie is pushing players who have made it to the end away from destiny, thus trying to kill their game. A game should be replayable, but it seems like with RoI, they dont want destiny to be replayable. They want a "hit it and quit it" kinda game.
Edit 2: also, drops mean nothing when nearly everything you own (that you use) is 400, and i highly doubt im the only person with nearly only 400 gear.
Dear Bungie,
I have been around since the beginning, so i have seen pretty much everything you have thrown our way. I have seen the rise and fall of weapons and subclasses. I have seen gods slain by LAN cables, or more interestingly enough, merely walk off the edge and take their own life because of their phobia of grenades. I experienced the agony of working your way up to a boss in the Prison, and spend several hours struggling to slay said boss, only to have to forfeit all progress and return to orbit due to real life obligations and no checkpoints. I witnessed the beginning of a divide in your community with the introduction of Trials, and the gally or gtfo posts.
But that was fine.
Then came year two. And with year two came a new subclass, a new raid, new (and a much more improved) story. A lot of good came with year two. Not everything good though. Elemental primaries were taken away from us for some reason, the nightfall flame and bonus was removed as well for no good reason. Year one content that we struggled to achieve was left behind and only select exotics slowly trickled their way back into our possession. Eververse was introduced with the promise that it would fund future live events to be free.
But once again, that was fine. The good outweighed the bad, so overall it was a positive year.
But now, year three. I know we have only just begun, but Bungie.... What the hell?
One of your employees has publicly stated that the lighthouse was always only supposed to be accessible by the best of the best. So that just cut into your community even more. And then you have the cheaters making it so only the best of the best at booting other players, or those who lag so hard they become gods, make it to the lighthouse, and when presented with proof, you do nothing except ban those that bring it to your attention. "Name and shame".
And your final expansion, lets be honest, is a little lackluster.... Five story missions and a laughably easy raid. But hey, its all fun and good content. Its just that you had a year, and this is what you have to show for it...?
But hey, you advertised those ornaments. Those things look friggen sweet!!
What? One a week? Prone to getting duplicates? If i want more, i need to spend even more cash? But but but.... But why?!
But hey, at least there is the live events that are being funded by eververse to look forward to right? Right? Wait, whats that? Almost all of the content is locked behind a paywall? But... But i thought it was supposed to be free.... How is it that all of the proceeds accumulated during ttk lead to a worse Festival of the Lost than last year...?
Alright. Well, all hope isnt lost. Iron Banner is really fun. Loot galore since Rise of Iron. You get loot from the bounties, and loot from ranking up. Loot EVERYWHE-
Wait, what's this? No more loot from ranking up? Then.... Then whats the point in playing after you beat the bounties?
What? There is none? Oh. Okay.
So, just to recap. Year two, you gave us a few good story missions, and a fun but really easy raid. Thats good.
But then you have your most toxic PvP gamemode run by cheaters and red bar deities. You gave us about three hours of content with FotL, and expected it to last two weeks. And Iron banner lasts however long it takes you to complete the bounties before you are out of stuff to do.
Im genuinely confused...
Do you want us to quickly run out of things to do? Cause that seems to be the case....
I honestly just dont know anymore. Im just really confused. Year one had a lot to do. Two raids, and three prison of elder game modes, nightfall, decent trials, good iron banner.
Now. Now we have this mess....
Sincerely,
A VERY concerned and confused gaurdian, JoeMonkey13.

3 AntwortenIn my opinion they only thing good that came from year two was the subclasses, the story and the new exotics throughout year two the forum was filled with nerf posts a lot of things got destroyed by complaints

What concerns me the most about this game is the loot and progress system in this game. Our team used to do every raid on reset day in order to gain some loot. Now the raid was beaten same night it came out. And we have almost not touched it since except for outbreak prime. We dont feel Any incentive at all to do the raid anymore because of the progress system. We Will eventually finish heroic mode for the achievement. There simply isnt anything more to it. You get anything you need when youre playing pvp. That to me doesnt feel right in a Pve Oriented game. The only use you have to get from 385-400 is to have it easier in endgame raids. Why hand out light progress anywhere? I remember when fatebringer or blackhammer dropped the pride and feeling of accomplishment. Bungie pls work on the rng and loot system instead of just handing everything out. Maybe no duplicates first not the 48 machinegun thats 1 light better.
Alright. Well, all hope isnt lost. Iron Banner is really fun. Loot galore since Rise of Iron. You get loot from the bounties, and loot from ranking up. Loot EVERYWHE- Wait, what's this? No more loot from ranking up? Then.... Then whats the point in playing after you beat the bounties? What? There is none? Oh. Okay.
Let me see if I understand this. Your motivation for playing Iron Banner was reaching Rank 3 & 5? Ok. Fair enough. It's a nice to goal to set for yourself. But then you go on to say it was a goal because of the packages received from the Rank? Dafuq? Can't say I know a single person who genuinely felt rewarded for their efforts because they got a useless ghost shell, a single blue engram, and some motes and coins. I could get all that and probably more from running a single strike. And Rank 5? That was probably more of a let down than getting 17 3oC as a NF reward. Seriously, more coins and motes, another ghost, and a chance for a higher item. A chance. Smh. Back in Y2, people constantly complained about this. You could run Challenge Mode, takes 10 min to an hour, and get multiple max light items, plus a possible exotic. Rank 5? Grind for hours over a couple days for a single chance at max light. Which one sounds out of balance?
Rank 5.
It wouldn't have been game breaking to for Rank 5 to be guaranteed at max light. That equals 3 max light per month. So yeah, taking packages out was a good thing. They were virtually worthless anyway. And with post game drops being better than ever, the grind is worth it to increase light or just infusion fodder to round out your arsenal. Speaking of grind, I don't know about you, but I never had to play than more 10-15 games per character to reach Rank 5. I almost always have a bounty left over from a previous month because I didn't need it, or the marks. So if your trying to say that people will play less, stop. Just...stop. I didn't take long anyways. The people that want to reach Rank 5 will do so because they always have. It's a goal. It's a source of pride for some people to get all 3 toons to max Rank. No extra motivation required, despite the carrot Efrideet is selling at Rank 5 this month.

6 AntwortenBungie started off wanting to be a 10 year game, which is really difficult for games and they seem to be struggling. It will never be a world of Warcraft for example that's been around for 11 years and has brought out new content that is good and lasts a good amount of time. And when games such as that need more time with an expansion, they take it and give out an update or two to hype up the expansion. Perhaps they should have done just that.
-
You've been conditioned to expect rank packages and having a hard raid. When they tone it down it feels like they're lowering the bar for Destiny, completely. The main staff is working on Destiny 2 and only a small amount are putting their attention towards ROI.

1 AntwortenWell said guardian. I just came back from playing other games that came out recently bf1, titanfall 2, and skyrim and wow. Activision and bungie should be ashamed of themselves for what destiny has become. Completed IB bounties in 3 hours. Half my games had fake red bars teleportin around the map with shotguns that somehow have sniper range, and frankly it just wasn't enjoyable at all even with games that were a decent connection. It used to be..

7 AntwortenI knew I was gonna disagree as soon as I saw that title...

None of the players I played regularly with have completed the Raid yet. Most are still in the 350 to 370 light bracket because they are adults with jobs and families, without the luxury of devoting 30 hours a week or much more to the game. I'm the only one of us who will put up with LFG squeakers calling me a 'retard' despite not being the person doing the least damage on Aksis, dying the most and having the fewest kills... 'Yeah you're still a retard!' I still like running strikes (despite the Skelington Key issue), the daily's, bounties, etc. looking forward to Iron Lagger when I get home tomorrow. Loot's great and bounties are much faster to complete: a good thing. I will get round to doing Heroic Mode Raid, finishing the OP quest, might even do the Thorn quest too (only took me 7 months to do the Chaperone), getting the Dark Fish Slice (only exotic sword I didn't get in TTK because it looks stupid!) eventually, instead of gorging on the content with all nighters just to moan about having nothing to do apart from prancing about like a twat in match-made teams dressed in full raid armour - man those Warlock boots were in my inventory for less than ten seconds and the helmet looks like it's made from a Siva-fied shoe box! Maybe they made the helmet from the box the glam-rock boots came in...mail order is so hit and miss! Very low poly count there Raid designers!! I digress but what are those Titan shoulder things from ToO? I call them the Joan Collins' or the 'Liberace's'- god knows what possessed someone to come up with those! Them and the Agonizers - hideous. Only things which are a bit 'meh...' for me, are the Live Team events (apart from Crimson Doubles) like FotL and I still have zero interest in Sparrow Racing otherwise for us 95% majority scrubs there's still plenty to do.
-
1 AntwortenI'm in the same boat. Right now I'm trying to take a break from destiny as well. Maybe I'll go and buy bf1 or Titan fall 2.
-
4 AntwortenThey already have our money for all of Destiny, so they're not worried about us as much. Since D2 is next year, that's what they're mainly focusing on right now. The live team working on Destiny right now is really small, so there's only so much they can do, as evidenced by the lackluster expansion and events.
-
They purposely botched Halo: Reach's mulitplayer with shitty mechanics, no ranked 1-50 based on win/loss, etc., so maybe they have another endeavor planned.

1 Antwortengo back finish old quests, hunt for dead ghosts, play old content, the old raids and POE are still fun. play trials on the weekend that's one thing i need to do as its only thing left on the game i have yet to complete. There's lots of content. You're 400 light so end game shouldn't be the issue. Yes i miss some of the old content that's why i ran crota 3 times last week. The main thing i do agree with you on is the blue flame(not bc of the xp buff but because it signified that you did it, and elemental primaries. Still have yet to get a vision of confluence or fang of ir yut so those are things that i am currently striving for.
-
You clearly play the game too much, so yes a break from Destiny would do you a lot of good. My friends list is made up of both regular adults who have families and work and also people who do nothing but play this game all day, everyday. The only people who are at 400 light are those in the second category. For those of us with actual lives outside of video games, there is more than enough content.

1 AntwortenTo answer OP's question about whether Bungie is trying to kill this game, yes and no. Yes, Bungie wants to kill off Destiny. No, Bungie does not want to kill this franchise. The leaks say that all of Bungie + 2 more studios are working on Destiny 2. All this work on Destiny 2 is at the expense of Destiny, which will be legacy game this time next year. My recommendation for the next 10 months is to finish that stack of games you never got around to playing because you've spent so much time on Destiny. FYI: Bungie and Activision are for profit companies that wants to make the most profit. They know the most profit will come from making Destiny 2 the best Travelerdamn Destiny game yet and not from DLC. If you think this means serving the existing community with content is a secondary or tertiary priority for Bungie, then you're Travelerdamn right. There just aren't enough of us left to make the DLC worth the effort.

Bearbeitet von Southern4x4: 11/10/2016 3:42:41 PMDestiny is an extended beta. BETA. Nerfs... not done to appease cry babies (though it seems that way). They are done for data mining. They want a ton of data on every weapon archetype, super, grenade, melee, etc. My guess is they'll use the data to balance D2. Trials and Crucible... you nailed it. Cheaters prosper. Shit matchmaking and "special" matchmaking that only applies to ToO - it's a joke. I see a Trials emblem and immediately think "cheating scrub" or "paid for a carry scrub". They need to make ToO rewards bounty dependent and do away with the Lighthouse - similar to what they did with IB. Cheats need to be named and shamed. The ban hammer needs to hit like a truck versus a Kat Williams pimp slap. As for content, I play a lot. I've done everything but HM WoTM and getting to the Lighthouse. My toons are all at 400. I still enjoy the game. Crucible not so much... because of red bar warriors, weapons being inconsistent and lack of map rotation. Point being... playing 8 hours a day every day will cause burnout and "lack of content". People that only have 10 hours a week or so for playing... they still have plenty to do. Eververse... I've spent my share (and yours). It's all cosmetic... so enough with the "pay to win" posts. It's not pay to win... it's pay to have cooler looking guns, armour, etc. Paying isn't required - you can get it free but have to wait for it. So stop with all the "locked behind a pay wall" posts. It's not. Still waiting for SRL to return as well as Queen's Wrath. Lord knows we've funded them and then some. Relax, play the game with friends and try to enjoy yourself. Stop focusing on drops, LL and bullet proof red bar warriors... you control none of it - getting salty doesn't help.

Bearbeitet von g_DAta2015: 11/10/2016 3:30:37 PMI've always felt Rise of Iron and the free April update were supposed to be tied together. But they had to do something in April to keep players interested since no new content came out since ttk. So they dropped the April update and cut the cost in half and gave us a dlc to start yr 3.
-
2 AntwortenOnly reacting on the Iron Banner part: The bounties are now the "rank packages". And you get 4 per character now and not 2 (rank 3 and 5). So I don't get what all the fuzz is about. In a way we now get 4 rank packages instead of 2 per character.
-
6 AntwortenI've played Trials every weekend for since RoI came out and was cheated against once. Don't let the vocal minority fool you. And yes, Trials is for the elite. It's end-game PvP material. The fact that he even had to come out and say it is kind of stupid. I thought it was axiomatic. Iron Banner rank packages were removed and replaced with four bounties that add up to give you twice the amount of gear you received from rank packages. I don't understand why this is such an issue. They literally gave us more...AND improved the drop rate after matches. You say they mean nothing, but they're some of the best weapons in the game and getting a good roll on them can give you a really good weapon or infuse material. Rise Of Iron was never supposed to be a big expansion. Hell, it was never supposed to exist. The (very small) live team through it together because they had to push back the release of D2. I'll end with this: I'm a beta player as well, as I think you were. Been around a while. Seen every meta, every piece of new content, new and re-hashed, and honestly loved every second of it. Realizing what Rise Of Iron was, I have loved it. I looked at it as nothing more than another Dark Below, and that's all it was ever supposed to be. More, unannounced content, like this years April update is likely to come. It will likely bring everything forward and all the people losing their mind over "losing" year 1 and 2 content can stop white-knuckling in the corner and be happy again. I put "losing" in quotations since the content is still very much there and playable. The game will be okay. It's okay now, although obviously there are plenty of things to fix. My head is not in the sand. It's not a perfect product. Just realize that basically 90% of the people under Bungie are working on D2 so support and fixes with this game are going to come very slowly, and new content will be few and far between, which is why I believe the last, big thing is bringing all the old content forward.

I get that you want Destin to be amazing and all, but the fact is that bungie ruined a lot of the fun themselves. Good primaries getting nerfed because bungie listens to crybabies, now that primaries have been nerfed to shit people are complaining about special weapons even more than they used to. So they get nerfed as well, PvP becomes slow and boring. They took away our elemental primaries because they were the "default choice" As much as this is true they could've fixed this some other way. All the PvP nerfs affected PvE as well which is just frustrating. Raids are easy for a lot of people however the majority of people haven't beaten a raid yet. Destiny is a fun game, and I have almost 3000 hours if not more by now. But I learned half way through year 2 and 2 months into year 3 that the game is just becoming less and less fun especially if you KEEP playing it. Pick up some other games and enjoy them, then go back to Destiny to have some fun. Once you get bored/annoyed again you go play another game again.

5 AntwortenBearbeitet von heckin bamuezled: 11/10/2016 2:47:34 PMConsidering you've reached the new max light on all of your characters, beaten the raid numerous times- potentially beaten the Challenge Modes(?), I feel no sympathy for you at all. You also managed to bitch about the Iron Banner loot system which I do not understand at all.. We get 2 Guaranteed weapons and armor pieces, amazing and significantly high light drops from just playing matches of Iron Banner, and yet you still think this reward system is lacking? You are a very confused and entitled millennial. This game doesn't owe you anything after nearly 60 solid days worth of gameplay. Probably the most stupid part of this entire post is your title.. You realize this is the last DLC, right? They don't care if this game is "killed" lol.
Year one had a lot to do. Two raids, and three prison of elder game modes, nightfall, decent trials, good iron banner.
Man you're right! Now we only have 4 raids, Challenge of Elders AND the original Prison of Elders, a* great Iron Banner, trials that is way better than it used to be and we still have a nightfall..? They also added burns to the weekly heroics! This makes them incredibly less tedious and much more fun than they used to be. Also regarding Ornaments?
What? One a week? Prone to getting duplicates? If i want more, i need to spend even more cash? But but but.... But why?!
Because they're cosmetic. Not having them doesn't negatively impact the way you play at all, unless of course you have some sort of inferiority complex. Also the Eververse events are free, they aren't "locked" behind anything..? You can just pay extra to get extra cosmetic items. Notice a trend here? Not to mention, EVERY SINGLE ITEM in Festival of the Lost was obtainable without spending anything. The Sparrow, the Wolf-Mask- everything. Oh and what about the 4 free shaders we got? How about those? Were those locked behind a paywall? I disagree with nearly all of the points you've made in this post, but I do agree with you regarding the removal of elemental primaries and the name and shaming problem. Bungie has a great concept going but almost every decision they make is poorly executed. For example, the removal of elemental primaries. They removed them so we could have a more diverse weapon pool. Why they didn't make Elemental Telemetries a thing or something that could make any legendary primary have an element confuses me.
