Let me start by saying that the current 'meta' is perfect for me. I do the best in crucible that I ever have and often finish as the highest scoring player/ best KD. That being said, I'm where I am now because I was forced into using shotguns when they became so prevalent for self defence and have now found myself playing shotgun better than most people I encounter. I miss my sidearms but I can't bring myself to switch back when shotguns are so good. I actually disagree that they need a nerf, or that primaries need a buff, I simply think that the rebalance needs to come in addressing the abundance of ammo available. If I want, I can go a whole game without switching to my primary because so much shotgun ammo is available. To make players, myself included, have a reason to opt for primary engagements they need to stop making the ammo so readily available. Basically, reduce the amount of special ammo available so people have to use their primaries and let sidearms keep their intrinsic perk of always having ammo on respawn. That's how you address an issue without breaking any guns.
