So I don't know when this happened (maybe sometime around 1 P.M. E.S.T this past Friday?), but I am seeing all over the forums that the radar is now considered a crutch relied on by people who think they are elite (but are actually terrible at this game in every possible way). Apparently, using an in-game mechanic that helps to make up for terrible audio cues is now considered "being a crutch player." These forums never fail to make my brain nice and toasty.
Edit 1: LOL we're somehow trending. Might respond to some of you, might not, IRDK. Have quite a bit of shit to do, so we'll see what happens.
Edit 2: I need to make this clear. At it's current state this game is shit, and I'm trying to avoid playing it because I need my sanity to finish my final paper. I was just interested in what people had to say about the topic. I do not have an opinion on the matter. Really couldn't care less at this point. But I do think they really need to look at more detailed audio cues in Destiny 2 if they truly are considering a "competitive" gameplay, regardless of what they do with the radar.

Using your ghost to pull up for your sparrow in Patrol = crutch...oops i think i have the wrong end of the stick

Bearbeitet von NathanW18: 11/1/2016 11:34:54 AMThis game was designed around the radar. The fact that our guardians make no sound when they're moving says everything that needs to be said. I would never play PvP if the radar was removed permanently and audio cues stayed the same. There would have to be footstep sounds added.

1 AntwortenRadar was designed to be in the game. Sound effects don't Q for many things like walking or running.. Jumping and switching weapons are the main Q's. Having no radar gives people with no gun skill the ability to sit in a corner and wait for someone to run by. It's a joke. Destiny should never have created this game mode while top players K/D's this weekend dropped drastically. It really shows inferno is broken.
-
1 AntwortenPersonally the radar is needed in destiny due to the audio cues being useless the only audio that assist in knowing where an enemy is are them jumping or using a super. During trials w/ no radar and inferno if you just run around the map you can easily get behind people with there being no footstep audio.
-
Trials next weekend abilities only. Kids on the forums.... omg you rely on primaries, special, and heavy such a crutch.
-
Bumping for that "toasty brain" remark. For some reason I laughed more than I should have reading it.
-
Depends on how you look at it. I don't think of it as a crutch, but when we go into inferno or places without it we panic because the radar is too powerful. I think it needs sone sort of change.

Gonna toast up some marshmallows tonight

1 AntwortenHunter = Top Crutch

Bearbeitet von Doomguy: 11/1/2016 7:01:02 AMI guess using sonar/radar in submarines must be a crutch too, militaries shouldn't be allowed to use them! Buncha losers
That last part was sarcasm in case anyone decides to get offended.
I use radar and I'm still garbage I just don't have the PVP mindset and for those who do I commend you all

2 AntwortenYou are only a true mlg pro player sponsored by mountain dew if you play destiny with a Atari joystick. With only using your feet. You are also not allowed to use the following: Any class Any grenades Any primary Any secondary Any heavy Any melee Any ability Jump Sprint Walk Radar Hub Television Sound Ammunition Super Shields Health regeneration And you must remember this as well. Anyone who kills you is one of the following or multiple: A cheater A hacker A lagger A tryhard A sweaty basement dweller A kid A scrub A bungie fanboy Worse than you Uses crutches Lucky Follow these guides and you can become mlg and have as many doritos and cans of Mt. dew that you can consume.

So your GIVEN a crutch to help you. But you don't want the crutch because you can't win with the crutch?.....sound about right?
-
Not a crutch, it's a style of play. It's also useful for spotting kids that camp doorways with shotguns and not having to watch your flank constantly.

The salt shaker overfloweth this weekend.

My salt-o-meter has been working overtime this past weekend with all the posts about it.

1 AntwortenI have bad hearing, so the game is unplayable without radar. No way to tell if some little bitch is poised around a corner or not, shotty primed for the most -blam!-ish kill possible. Without a radar, this is my least favorite shooter ever, the maps are to cramped and narrow (especially around doorways) to counter corner campers without a radar or wasting a nade.
-
2 AntwortenI wouldn't need a blam-ing radar if I could hear the skyscraper sized ogre sprinting right behind me in the Wretched Eye mission!

Always has been

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von Bulked, Apostle of Strengf: 10/31/2016 11:22:58 PMI got a message saying I was using a crutch because I was across map outsniping a guy who was using event horizon with hidden hand while I was using Queenbreaker's Bow 😂
-
If you need it to be good it is a crutch. Radar, abilities, guns, drugs........All crutches.
-
No no no no no...the lack of a radar is the crutch....
-
22 AntwortenThe radar helps to deter camping, keep the action going, and prevent frustrating deaths (getting shot from behind or dying unexpectedly). It emphasizes gun skill as the path to success, not the "I saw you first, therefore I win" style of gameplay that games like Call of Duty are known for. It's not a bad thing. There's a reason why Radar-Enabled is the default Crucible modifier and why Inferno is only occasionally available.
-
Looks like streamers who see people camp in spawn in no radar trials is considered "Pathetic". Spooky trials is best trials
-
2 AntwortenNo radar is a crutch, using the radar actually takes skill because apparently 99% of people don't bother to look at it

1 AntwortenYou realize there's a word that exists that wasn't made by nerfers to refer to powers and weapons? It's called an asset, or asset(s). That's the correct term. As in something that benefits you or, in Destiny logic, helps you win. Radar, grenades, weapons, not being dumb. That sort of thing. A crutch is now a statistical term (well... by forum obsessed people) that you rely on a certain few choice asset(s) otherwise you can't do anything. In fact, it's a description, not a real thing. You would have to prove it that an individual can 'only use these few items' to be a crutch. And 'being killed' by something doesn't prove anything. Also, defending something from nerfs somehow 'automatically' means I must use it as a crutch if I'm defending it. Which makes no sense... because half the time I don't even use the damn thing I'm defending... so you can accuse someone using crutch without the accused even using it? Which also makes no sense... A crutch also doesn't mean 'it kills fast' because all weapons kill fast. Some faster than others. But that's not what a crutch means. Because if you miss all your shots, all the time, it can't be a crutch because you must suck with it. Thus, not a crutch. Yet... still a crutch depending on what it is? See? People don't even know what it means. They just shout out that word and hope people listen to them. Honestly, what it really means, is that you can use a gun well whenever you use it. Which, I guess if that's a 'crutch' I would take it as a compliment. Or, more likely, it's just a asset they don't like fighting. In which case, they should just find another game.
