I had the pleasure tonight to participate in what l believe is the oldest fireteam to ever play Destiny or perhaps any other video game. I'm 73, Coldstoneshoki_9 is 72 and IronDuke-177 is the youngster of the group at 66. We total 211 years. By the end of this year we will add to the total as IronDuke will be 67 in November and Coldstoneshoki will be 73 in December. We played 2 Heroic strikes and 2 320 strikes and some Archon's Forge. It make take us older Guardians longer and we die a lot more than you younger Guardians but we can still get it done.
So have fun, don't get discouraged when things are hard and not going your way and never stop gaming.
I did ask permission from both Guardians to use their gamer tags in this post.
Edit: some Guardians have replied to the post by questioning my motives, that l am an attention seeker, which is a valid argument. From my perspective, as someone who has been kicked from events, left behind when l lost my way, ignored in clans and refused help when l asked for it, here is my reply:
The point of the post is to make the Community aware that there are many more "mature" gamers playing than is widely known. That players don't have to think of quitting when they reach at certain age, it's o.k. to keep on gaming whatever you age may be. That even as time takes it's toll on your body and reflexes video games can be fun and achievements are not out of reach.
I was fortunate enough to be chosen as the Community Focus for July 20, 2015 and through that experience I learned that there are many older and middle aged gamers playing who contemplate quitting because they think there is some kind of stigma associated with being an older gamer or they feel they are being a drag on their fireteam because their KTD is too low. They don't want to be "that guy" who no one wants on their team. I want to encourage them to keep playing. That there are gamers who are older than they are who aren't giving up and that gaming can be enjoyable even when their minds and bodies are slowing down. Aren't these forums supposed to be a place the Community can share achievements and not just rip each other apart?

186 AntwortenBearbeitet von HerMajTheQueen: 10/27/2016 11:06:37 AMThere is an overarching assumption that this group is made up of males. Hang about, sexists....these might well be ladies. The post mentions nothing about gender or genitalia. Lady guardians don't notice age. xx From the trail of responses to this, it seems as if I have alienated some people. Can I just add that this posting was intended to be light-hearted, that I am female and that I am one of those older guardians that this post is praising. NOT that I am one of the team mentioned in the original post specifically but that I am a significantly older player of Destiny and I am female. Some of the responses to my post are very hurtful and unnecessarily personal.

1 AntwortenWow, love this post. Our small clan has no ne under 50 in it! We have been friends forever and live across the country. It is our way of staying connected. Gaming at any age is about the time spent with friends. We meet up almost every night for at least a few strikes! Keep it up!

5 AntwortenMyself I am a 38 year old 100% DISABLED veteran with brain damage, and my wife is a 42 year old DISABLED veteran and we both have always enjoyed video games from halo 1 on Xbox original to present. Played all different types. We started playing January 2015 and have suffered similar issues of not being able to "keep up" or play crucible as good but we enjoy the game as much as the next guardian. We've been a 2 person fireteam since the beginning and we will keep playing. We no life this game every day. And will keep doing so and loving it.

You coulda chosen a game and game company with a little more integrity, but I'm glad you're on.

That's cool. I feel young again. I am only 50 years old. Keep on gaming, I will.

I think this is awesome. My wife asked when I was going to grow out of video games. I said, I guess never because I still enjoy it. I'm 50. Like you said, my eyesight, reflexes and finger dexterity aren't as good as most but still play for fun and would love to play with you guys sometime if you're on PS4. GT is GROMS99

Bump. This is what Gaming is all about: enjoying the game with friends and playing it at your own pace. It doesn't matter what your KD is as long as you're having fun. Good on you Guardian.

90 AntwortenSorry to ruin the party, but I say fake! Why the f*ck would you start a topic to tell people how old you and your fireteam members are? Need attention?
-
I am glad you three are enjoying yourselves and I invite all three of you to join us in our clan. We raid, crucible and much more and most importantly, respect and value all of our members. We would be honored to have you three guardian share the experience and joy with us at "Your Average Playerz" ps4.
