In the current meta, high rate of fire low impact weapons are at the top.
Grasp, being the fastest firing pulse archtype, can reliably 3-4 burst an enemy in PVP.
The Hawksaw archtype (Blind Perdition, Outbreak Prime, etc) also reliably 3 bursts an enemy, occasionally taking 4.
The Nirwen's Mercy archtype (Hopscotch Pilgrim, Reflection Sum, NTTE) is a solid 3 burst kill.
The Spare Change archtype (Parthian Shot, Messenger) is also a very reliable 3 burst kill, with the very occasional 2 burst kill.
See the problem here? Almost all archtypes of pulse rifles can 3 burst an enemy. So why even use the high impact low RoF ones when you can do the same thing with a faster firing one? Using a low RoF pulse requires very good thumb work and precision; players that are skilled should be rewarded for using such a slow rate of fire weapon.
On top of that, getting a high impact pulse rifle to drop with a good roll is very rare and hard to come by. For the Parthian Shot or Spare Change to even be worth using, they at least need Counterbalance for their horrible horizontal recoil.
For these reasons, I believe that the high impact archtype of pulse rifles need a buff. They currently do 34 to the head, 23 to the body. A buff to them doing maybe 36-38 damage to the head would significantly help them get a more reliable 2 burst kill.
What do you guys think? I hope to see this change as it would make this class of weapon more usable in PVP.

1 Antworten24-36 is the good buff. Allows a soild 2 burst at range.(accounting for damage drop off) Allows soild kill with 1 body shot 5 head. 2 body 4 head kills a low armor. With head seeker you can get a full kill with 2 body 4 head.

1 AntwortenThe vangaurd one csn two burst and all others 3 burst for the most part

3 AntwortenBecause when those weapons are buffed, they instantly become the new meta.

I remember when Nerwins and Red Death ruled the crucible. That was a fun meta. I'm getting tired of grasp types. I think the most balanced is the hawksaw type, but with these insane range stats they're giving us these days they are annoying as well.

You can thank the OG The Messenger for the crippled high impact pulse rifles....what a shame.

1 AntwortenAll primaries should be buffed. You should be able to kill the warrior with a shotgun before he gets to you or the scrub before he runs away from you.....it's ridiculous you can't. They need to make it that primary is you best option. Specials of any kind should be situational. But they'll probably nerf shotguns AGAIN!

4 AntwortenI can see this becoming a problem with scout rifle users. We had a similar problem with hand cannons, due to them being accurate out to scout rifle range while having a faster rate of fire. I think they should just lower the damage so its more of a 4 to 5 burst kill. Have high impact pulses still tale 3 bursts but make it so there is a chance of a 2 kill burst.

2 AntwortenI feel ya. My Unbent Tree with counterbalance and braced frame is a monster. My Shadow Price is my baby though. I actually have to try to get kills with it

6 AntwortenI think primary weapon balance is pretty good right now and I see a variety of weapons & archetypes being used. Plus it's impossible to balance the time to kill on every primary weapon and still have them all function as intended. You probably wouldn't use the highest impact archetype of Scout Rifle on a close quarters map like Asylum. The same goes for a high impact Pulse rifle. You've got to use weapons that suit the map, and use them at their optimal ranges. Of course you'll get beat by high rate of fire weapons in close quarters, but low rate of fire weapons do have a place in PvP. You probably won't get to use them in PvP as often as you'd like because the majority of the maps in the game are small to medium sized, but they can be viable in some maps.

Buff the same archetype for autos too.

1 AntwortenI just tried using my old messenger because it's void and im working on the thorn bounty. It is so bad that I turned destiny off. Literally someone could run at me from 30ish feet away while I was shooting them and insta kill shotty me. Yes I know im just bad but that ttk is rediculous

1 AntwortenBuff high impact low fire rate Everything :p
-
6 AntwortenI ran the Parthian Shot almost exclusively during IB. Outgunned most players at medium+ range using high RoF pulses. They're fine, just aim for the head and you 2 burst half the time.

3 AntwortenBearbeitet von Shark: 10/14/2016 12:34:30 PMTwo burst headshots with never become a thing again. Bungie learned their lesson. The best that'll happen in h RoF pulse will be nerfed, possibly by removing high cal

4 AntwortenBearbeitet von Nëfërātā: 10/14/2016 5:53:59 AMCrucible was always about ttk and dps last word is best example for primaries, shotguns as example for secondaries... You can't fix and balance without breaking the gun(s)completely and/or hurting pve. I don't want to see pulse rifles nerfed again. First it was the archetype around messenger then the whole weapon class completely... now low impact pulses are strong, and what happens; people ask for a nerf. At some point you should just come to realise that it is just a cycle... I mean we played this game for a long time. We should know better before we request nerfs and balance changes.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von ElTeaSweetness: 10/14/2016 11:14:47 AMThe problem is, there isn't much in between. If it was a two burst kill, wouldn't it's TTK be crazy fast? The low ROF guns do seem to be designed to work in a more skilled players hands. For instance, If someone is good with Colovances Duty, they will smoke my Mida most times, but you don't see that gun much cause the risk is higher and you gotta land your shots. BUT I got a braced frame, third eye, outlaw Parthinian...so, bring it on ;)

High Impact pulses handle like crap and flinch bad. They need a saving grace. There literally is 0 reason to use them now. Shoot I'd take a blanket stability or AA increase to make a two burst more consistent. They are way too hard to get a two burst in competitive crucible now.

Yes please I love this archetype, it has always been my favorite

10 AntwortenLastnight i got a counterbalance, perfect balance, full auto hopscotch pilgrim. I'll leave it at that....

7 AntwortenBearbeitet von Val44: 10/14/2016 1:04:48 PMYeah and while you´re at it , nerf high rof pulse rifles . Too much flinch and too much damage.
-
Low rof autos could use a buff too. Make it 29-30 on headshot and increase the amount of carried ammo. With suros you get a whopping 200-300 rounds in reserve and you blow through it pretty quickly. Increase it to 400-500 and AT LEAST 100 ammo per white ammo pick ups
-
They need to start buffing a LOT of the slow RoF Arch-types.
-
6 AntwortenOr... nerf high rate of fire pulse rifles.

4 AntwortenOut the blue for sniper shortgaze or armbush

8 AntwortenI think one thing that needs to happen in Destiny is... Stagger or flinch needs to be based off of a weapons impact... Since most high impact weapons are also low rate of fire, the stagger or flinch should be more severe... This would give you a better chance of landing another shot, or reduce the chance of being mowed down in the time it takes you to fire your weapon again... This needs to happen to all weapons in Destiny, imo...

2 AntwortenThey already buffed it by increasing the RoF
