In the current meta, high rate of fire low impact weapons are at the top.
Grasp, being the fastest firing pulse archtype, can reliably 3-4 burst an enemy in PVP.
The Hawksaw archtype (Blind Perdition, Outbreak Prime, etc) also reliably 3 bursts an enemy, occasionally taking 4.
The Nirwen's Mercy archtype (Hopscotch Pilgrim, Reflection Sum, NTTE) is a solid 3 burst kill.
The Spare Change archtype (Parthian Shot, Messenger) is also a very reliable 3 burst kill, with the very occasional 2 burst kill.
See the problem here? Almost all archtypes of pulse rifles can 3 burst an enemy. So why even use the high impact low RoF ones when you can do the same thing with a faster firing one? Using a low RoF pulse requires very good thumb work and precision; players that are skilled should be rewarded for using such a slow rate of fire weapon.
On top of that, getting a high impact pulse rifle to drop with a good roll is very rare and hard to come by. For the Parthian Shot or Spare Change to even be worth using, they at least need Counterbalance for their horrible horizontal recoil.
For these reasons, I believe that the high impact archtype of pulse rifles need a buff. They currently do 34 to the head, 23 to the body. A buff to them doing maybe 36-38 damage to the head would significantly help them get a more reliable 2 burst kill.
What do you guys think? I hope to see this change as it would make this class of weapon more usable in PVP.

10 AntwortenEverything EXCEPT red death. red death is more than fine where it is.
-
2 AntwortenThe only problem I see is that assault rifles are still unusable, have been for almost 2 years now. Can't use them from distance which is fine, but they're also useless up close because of shotguns, sidearms, fusion rifles, handcannons, oh and pulse rifles.

9 AntwortenThey should buff them.
Red Death would be buffed with the update right?
-
Well low RoF,high impact are behaving the same as their scout rifle counterparts. Faster if you score precision but if you miss then ttk slows. They shouldn't touch the damage on them but they do need to buff their recoil direction, not necessarily to a counterbalance level but enough that it isn't a necessary perk to make the weapon usable. Lower damage on high RoF so that only medium RoF pulse rifles can reliably 3 burst kill. If they are going to make them forgiving there needs to be a trade off.

15 AntwortenBearbeitet von Cosmic Zaa: 10/15/2016 5:56:34 PMNerf low impact pulses and tlw. buff slow weapons. Make GoM arch take 4 headshots. Make hawksaw take 3 headshots and 1 body. Make Red death stay 3 headshots. Slow Spare change more and make it 2 headshot, or keep it the same and make it 2 head 1 body. Either way

I have a Lyumila-D I'm waiting for a buff.

2 AntwortenYessss and revert Hopscotch back to High impact !

I remember when these guns rocked... it wss right after Last Word was first nerfed, so my Hunter adopted Lydmilla as her new go-to gun, the thing was glued in her hand. Then Bungie promised an 8% nerf to those guns... and delivered 20%. They still haven't recovered from it.

7 AntwortenBearbeitet von kroppin: 10/14/2016 3:56:34 AMI don't think buffing damage will solve the problems low rof pulses have. Besides, people are already complaining about it in the comments. The problem I see with low rof pulses is that you practically need counterbalance, especially counterbalance, + a stability perk for them to be viable in PvP due to the insane recoil direction they have. I have a Spare Change with braced frame but no CB, and it still has some wacky kick. Since they have such poor recoil, they can't be effectively used at range where they're supposed to perform. I think they just need a buff to accuracy (recoil direction) and a little buff to stability. As of now, they can already statistically 2-burst (6 x 34 = 204) most people, so I think making them more consistent (especially at range) would make them a more viable choice.

8 AntwortenNerf pulse rifles.
-
2 AntwortenThe only thing you could do to buff them is increase ROF. Maybe add an extra flinch effect because the bullets "hit harder"? Maybe extra range? Can't touch impact. We already had a meta (hopscotch / messenger) in HoW where high impact pulses could 2-shot and it was god awful.
-
Yeah! Hopscotch Pilgrim needs a buff....wait....SHIT

2 AntwortenCheck the Parthian shot on my Titan , counterbalance ,hand laid stock ,outlaw , .only useful at long range tho ,
-
They are better than they where in the The Taken King meta. But to bring them back to their original state pre-TTK would be awesome. Please Bungie, bring back my Red Death!😭
-
Parthian Shot and Spare Change are, if you hit all crits, the fastest killing guns in the game. All you need then is a solid stability roll (I believe the parthian shot can roll Rodeo, Braced Frame and Counterbalance all on the same gun) and you're set. Like the low RoF scouts (Cocytus SR4, Colovances Duty), low RoF pulses are high risk, high reward guns.

4 AntwortenNothing wrong with weapons, the maps design is horrible, no pathetic to think there should be ppl specialised and came up with this, lots of maps are not even slight friendly to high impact pulse rifles, you make classes faster dashing, rolling and yet you make the maps close quarters like it is a shotgun fest.
-
Bump for sure would love then to be 2 burst again.
-
53 AntwortenMy hopscotch 2 bursts every time with the roll i have on it but i still prefer grasp's 4 burst.
-
same thing for high impact autos there is no reason to use these guns they give no advantage
-
Screw using pulse rifles, SCOUTS FOR THE WIN! Yeah but I totally agree with you, they really should buff these:
-
5 AntwortenYour forgetting about range.... does no one remember how bad the nirwins/messenger era was? Your talking about buffing guns like red death. What you want is a nerf to high rof pulses. But then they would need to again nerf hand cannons. My advise would be if your using a high impact pulse to stay in between scout and hand cannon range. This will keep you out of death range of a high rof pulse and at that range most hand cannons are far less effective. At that range those high rof pulses become 5 bursts because of missed bullets and damage fall off.
-
2 AntwortenI was mentioning this to some Clan mates and really what I'd like to see with the high impact is just a decent increase in fire rate. It's neigh impossible to two burst anyone unless they are just standing still. And getting three bursts takes so damned long that you don't stand a chance against high rof pulses. Or increase the impact as you mentioned and leave the rof alone. Don't nerf anything - just buff the high impact pulses so it's viable.
-
1 AntwortenYou have my like. I miss using this archetype. I was excited to see them "buff" the fire rate of Lyudmila-d in the last patch notes. Didn't make any difference to the viability of the weapon.
-
3 AntwortenThe hopscotch archetype needs a buff too. It takes the same number of headshots as a hawksaw but fires a lot slower. Theres really no reason to use them in pvp at the moment
-
1 AntwortenBearbeitet von CopicX: 10/15/2016 7:41:31 AMIt's balanced by the fact that the high impact ones like Nirwhen and Spare change can afford alot more bodyshots than headshots. Keep getting bodyshots with a Hawksaw or Grasp and you'll kill slower than a High Impact Auto rifle.
