Tip for Rank up Packages! Choose wisely

Now you have to choose one of three package options: Armor, Chroma or Weapons.
Let math do the work..
For this, I'll take away the chroma package, assuming you've collected them already..
Take a look at your weapons, add the totals of each weapon you have including your ghost and divide the total by 4. Remember the number.
Now, separately, add the totals of your armor including your artifact, and divide the total by 6. Remember the number.
If your weapons have a higher value than you armor, I recommend choosing an armor package.
If your armor has a higher value than your weapons, I recommend choosing a weapon package.
This should help get the most of your rank up packages! Good luck

Weapons: 3 weapons Armor: 4 armor pieces, don't count the artifact or class item. Ignore the ghost and class item as it will drop from every package. The artifact doesn't drop from a package so if that is weighing you down you should farm skeleton keys or Eris rep.

That's just common sense. You can do it by just simply quickly looking at your weapons and armor. Same goes for exotic engrams though. Say your 375 and you have 377 legs and a exotic leg engram drops. Don't use it until you are 377 (or I'd maybe say don't use til your 378)

Ive only picked weapons and have had no trouble getting my light up. Just do heroic till your raid worthy

18 AntwortenLook at your overall light compared to your weapons and armor... Are your weapons all 1-2 light over your current overall light? Get an armor package. No? Get a weapon package. Case. Closed.

Most of the time, this probably works out the same, but I would think you should just count how many pieces on each side are at or less in light than your overall light level and chose the side that has more of them. You might have one item that is a lot higher or a lot lower than the others which would throw the logic off. Like if you have a low artifact, which many do, the math may come out that you should pick armor. But all your other armor pieces could be higher than your light level already. That only gives you a 1 in 6 chance to improve your level.

My lowest item was my artifact until this morning. Just could not get one to drop above 355ish. Patrolled the dreadnaughty this morning for bounties and low and behold went back to tower and a blue decoded as an artifact at 365. Rare but it happens.

9 AntwortenEverytime I pick weapons I get a damn fusion rifle. Everytime I pick armor I get a pair of boots. Why not just let us pick the exact item we want just with random rolls.

Figured this was obvious. Keep in mind that weapons have a bigger impact on your light level. Your light is not a direct average of all gear, it's slightly weighted towards weapons, armor next, ghost and artifacts have the least impact.

The best thing to do it look at you weapons and armors light levels. If you have 2 lower level weapons and only 1 lower level piece of armor then you have a better chance of getting the armor piece you need more. Simple as that

3 AntwortenWhy is it that whatever item you choose, the RNG of getting something different is possible? Example: You choose a "weapon" reward, and get a "class" item by RNG instead. This has occurred a few times.

22 AntwortenDoesn't really matter when the "smart" loot system keeps giving you the same piece over and over. 4 straight gauntlets from Shaxx and Dead Orbit gave me the auto rifle 3 times in a row.

If your armor is generally higher than your total light, pick weapons. Otherwise your increasing your odds of your package dropping and item at a lower light than what's in that slot.
