You can do that now though, so this option already exists.

Of course new armor and guns. But you still would have a choice to do that again tomorrow. If you like starting over, you could do that each week, or day if you'd like. But you choose not to, right? I mean, when Year 3 released, did you dismantle all Year 2 stuff, and only use Year 3 items? Because if there is a SINGLE Y2 or Y1 item in your inventory, then your actions would imply you didn't want all old stuff to just go away. I've discussed this with several over the past several days - and every single one of them had shown a Y2 item ACTIVE (not just in the vault). Which suggests that when a new environment is available, people like to migrate on their own time line, not on a game developer time line.
