Here is the story of Thorn...
It began it's career as an incredibly hard to get (but incredibly powerful) exotic that was a year one favorite. It could 2 shot headshot, you could kind of see people though walls, and it had decent range. This weapon was to overpowered in PVP so in TTK, Bungie nerfed it. This was entirely justifiable. It now could only 3 shot bodyshot. Thorn now became a prized relic of year one and mainly served to take up vault space for most guardians. But a handful of clever guardians rediscovered Thorn's beauty and every few crucible matches you would see these guardians using this dreaded hand canon. But then, for some reason, Thorn got nerfed AGAIN for some reason with Taken Spring (April update). Now poor Thorn can only 4 shot bodyshot, the glare got nerfed (for no reason, it was just an aesthetic effect), and the time the burn lasts got nerfed. Now all that made Thorn useful is gone. Thorn was reduced to a good hand canon with great range and a little extra damage. But Bungie wasn't done with Thorn yet, they nerfed Thorn a final time, this time reducing the range. Now with RoI, Thorn is coming back, but only after you complete a difficult quest and infuse it up. Also, any guardian can nerf Thorn when they equip an artifact. So Thorn will now be reduced to a middle range, average damage hand canon that has no purpose other than take up an exotic slot that you spent months trying to earn. Exotics are supposed to be special Bungie... What's special about Thorn now?

7 AntwortenMaybe you should stop using a damn year one bro. The only reason it was nerfed was to prepare for year 3 thorn it's gonna be a crazy good gun. If you don't like how it plays adapt and quit your bitching

1 AntwortenThorn is for the weak. *drops the mic*

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von bobswerski: 9/14/2016 3:17:04 PMOh no, a high RoF hand cannon can only 4 hit bodyshot? What a tragedy. This game is literally unplayable now. Seriously. It's losing, what, 10 range? That isn't going to do jack. Mark it down. It's still going to be a very good PvP gun because with Send It the range will be just fine and it's still going to punch above it's weight due to the DoT giving it the effective impact of the next higher class..... And oh btw it still gives you a wallhack and stops the enemies health regen.

I hate that people thinks this game is only pvp I enjoy the Thorn in PVE and I want to use the thorn in relevant PVE activities I think thorn is a very good gun in PVE, not the best in terms of DpS but still good and Fun Thorn needs also a DoT buff for pve
-
Seriously. Quite needing before it's even a problem.
-
No dude the thorn is so OP like omg they should make each shot do one damage and if u get shot u get an over shield lol

2 AntwortenBy year 4 we will have the new Exotic "Office Max". It will be a rubber band that shoots paperclips.
-
even thou i really cant stand it. i think it didnt deserve that nerf. ill be honest.
-
I wouldn't mind if they brang it back to 6 shots and the really slow reload, but make it so the dot stacks 6 times. And increase the dot damage to minions of the darkness by 200%+
-
2 AntwortenYou started off this post screwed up. Thorn was a terrible hand cannon when it was first available. Only 6 rounds, with an extremely low reload. It didn't anywhere near the damage it did once it was buffed in TDB. Before trying to hype the gun, get your ducks in a row to strengthen your argument, bc I struggle to take it seriously when you're uninformed

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von SAVAG3 B3AR: 9/14/2016 11:57:41 AMThe G-horn was nerfed before TTK as well. Then they waited a whole year to bring it back. Also they have made certain offensive supers ineffective. Using memory of radegast, nova bomb and hammer of sol, can now be reflected using swords with that artifact. The range nerf basically guarantees it'll be useless. I mean it was already shooting blanks now it'll be even worse.

-
Just played a match with it with send it on. I think I legitimately got 1 kill with it. And that was with help. Other than that it got me 10 assists. Doesn't feel viable to compete with other weapons being used in crucible currently
-
4 AntwortenThey cry because they don't have one. They did not want to stop getting sweaty in crucible and do the quest. Same old song and dance with crybabies wanting something for free in a crucible drop because they don't play PVE. Dry your eyes little girls Life is not fair and sometimes you have to work for it. Go back to hiding with shotguns and snipers with your made skills. OMG its Thorn, everybody run and hide! Get over it you crybabies.

1 AntwortenAfter getting it in year one multiple times...I'm not doing it again.
-
Ok I feel you, I love hand cannons. And I fully believe the range nerf was unnecessary and it upset me. But my friend and I used it 3v3 elms the other day. It felt fine, we can still use it. Its not as good and RNG is def still there.
-
you think the were going to make in year 3 without making it useless...lmao
-
7 AntwortenAll they need to do now is remove the DoT.
-
And to fix the gun to make it viable without being OP, remove final round and replace with something else. And trade send it with rifled barrel. Much more balanced then
-
Whatever, it's thorn.
-
Yes it was
-
Thorn still has damage over time enough to where you can kill someone with two bodyshots and a headshot. So it's more forgiving than any other hand cannon in its archetype. The only other perk that can guarantee a kill like that on thorns archetype (without getting a kill first) is LitC which that's not a guaranteed thing that it'll activate in the first 3 bullets (although to be fair the chances that it will are pretty high)
-
19 AntwortenAnything that gets it out of meta. I'd rather have a cancerous Mida Meta than a hand cannon meta. Besides, now it fits its archetype's range. Let me guess, you're one of those Thorn Shotgun prunes? How about you git gud? The game needs a longer break from thorn. Maybe year 9?
