Hey all! Lately, I've been noticing that I don't do so well when facing down Voidwalkers in the Crucible. They've got insane, spammable grenades and a high-range health-regenerating melee--not to mention the panic super whenever you get the jump on them. This isn't a nerf post--far from it--I just want to know how to play better against Voidwalkers in the Crucible. Thanks!
Edit: Also, Voidwalkers with MIDA and CT-D. Btw, thanks for all the help guys!

Back up. Voidwalkers were buffed to fill the CQC role that Sunsingers used to fill before they were nerfed into the ground. The balance of this game is a rock, paper, scissors affair. Just like Overwatch. That's why so many people bitch about Warlocks being "OP" in the Crucible. They don't realize the Warlocks were designed to have a strong neutral game, and a powerful melee attack. So trying to take them on at mid-range is playing right into their strength. Trying to take them on at close range is risky because you have to get past the long range of their melee attack. You back UP...and you fight them out beyond the range of their grenade attacks. Unless you're an FPS god and can just out-twitch everyone, that's the only way you're going to have CONSISTENT success taking on Warlocks. But if you're like the typical nerf-herder...and keep trying (and failing) to beat them at what THEY do best....you're going to struggle.

If you see 'em, uhhh....shoot 'em

Bearbeitet von divereflex: 9/8/2016 3:49:37 PMI've mained a VW since day 1. I find that I can dominate the mid-zone and choke points, but am very weak against hyper aggressive shotgunners who push when my nades are on cool down. Energy drain is good, but even if I melee you, it won't counteract the OHK of a shotgun blast. Also, to counter act the oft-bemoaned range of the warlock melee, we also have the slowest melee which means it's tough to get the follow-up melee out before dying. Regarding the super, get up close. A super is a super and it will usually get a kill. You'd be equally dead from a fist of havok. But here is the difference: Novabomb is the only super that can kill its own user. And it happens easily enough if it is thrown point blank. So if you push with a shotgun and get nova'd at that last minute, chances are high you'll get the trade by virtue of the walker getting killed by his own super.

It's actually very hard. Just become very evasive and kill them when you know grenades/melee are used up. Be watchful of their super or a second grenade, or even if they are in energy drain. Also, use the element of surprise. It works very well.
Coming from a Voidwalker
Have you tried working the shaft?
Had to, lol. A Defender with the Fun Police build tend to take the pep out of their step.
2 AntwortenWe can't be beaten! If you ever see one of us just sit down and except death. Mainly so I can finish this stupid first curse quest

1 AntwortenShoulder charge them. Unless they're wearing Ram, then you put on Peregrine Greaves and falcon knee them.

1 AntwortenStop getting close enough to be melee'd. If you notice they are running nothing manacles, jump high when they toss a grenade. It'll hit the ground to explode and won't track you if your far enough away. As for axion bolt, run from it. If you feel you can't run away, run towards it and slide into the bolt. That'll negate like 90% of the damage.

19 AntwortenYou have hard time fighting Dark Wizards? Titan-clan laugh. Dark Wizards easy. Listen up. Titan no like explain twice. You take fist...and push fist into Dark Wizard face. Really fast, and reaaaally hard. Repeat as desired, or until fist breaks from too much punch.

Been saying it since day 1. Voidwalker Master Race

Run towards them. I know its wierd but most nova bombs don't aim close to themselves unless they are targeting only one person. Its okay to take a nova bomb death if it means you stopped more than yourself from getting hit by it. Blinkers also have the mindset you will be backpedalling, running underneath them makes them confused for a short period.

Warlocks do best when their opponent is coming at them. Strafe or back off for a moment. They will use their abilities. Once they've missed you they are exposed. Warlocks are all about timing, if you mess with their timing by "juking" a move, it's often pretty easy to make them waste their abilities. (In the event of a storm caller, use corners and distance, hunters and Titans are more maneuverable than warlocks, and work corners best)

Shad step breaks bolt grenade tracking. Don't over rush they like to watch the radar and spam nades non line of sight. Invis abilities can help some there. If there using a corner pair smoke or void wall with the tracker perk. Try to avoid mid range fights or close range ones if you don't have a shotgun. A step outside of mid range makes for easy kills if they're all grenade no gun. Max impact range build shotguns also do good if you want to rush them after they've been marked. But for the grenades it's either be fast or stop way short. No stickies so jump rushing or sliding a corner can do well. But grenades are the main threat.

2 AntwortenSuppression grenade from Defender should do the trick. I've never tried it but it should work.

Throw a kid in their enclosure

Your best bet against any warlock subclass is to keep your distance. If your a shotgunner then you have to be quick because their neutral game and panic super just lends to close range engagements or snuffing out enemies around corners.

Shoot them in the face?

Stay off the ground when trying to face them

5 AntwortenAs a Void main I checked to see your load in order to better understand your problem. Hunter Gunsliger with TLW/Longbow/Sword combo with sniper being your main/go gun and then the TLW. That means that your style of play is what feeds Voidlocks. You either are too far (MIDA/Scout range) or too close (Voidlock abilities/shotgun combo plus recovery). I would say you need to have a better mid-range game or force mid-range game when you face Voidlocks.TLW is better that what its stats tells you in mid range. If it comes to close range use your agility.Locks in general are super slow and against good agility Hunters have many problems.Dont make it easy for them to use their abilities. Most important:delete your second Hunter, create a Lock and play with it.You'll have a better understanding of the class and that means you'll have a better idea how to counter their game. “To know your Enemy, you must become your Enemy.”

Nice to know that we're not particularly easy to beat >:-)

6 AntwortenWell you can shoot an Axion Bolt, so... Energy Drain builds just happen to be fairly strong. Energy Drain procs on melee ability hits and significantly lowers grenade cooldown. There's a perk to put that ability on grenades and the super to proc on kills with those abilities. Then there's a perk that grants super energy during Energy Drain. With that build there's no reason not to spam abilities so you can spam them harder.
