SUMMED UP VERSION BELOW:
tl;dr
Bungie is known for over "Balancing" things. This isn't a complaint so much as a question. I'm trying to figure out what they were thinking when they made changes.
Sunsinger is called many things. Support, Tank or even Crutch. I think Sunsinger was just VERY flexible and could become a completely different character with a few changes. Based on a neutral game a change of a perk and a piece of gear and your whole build is adapted to whatever it is you are doing.
People found a comfortable and overly used build and only spammed that. I get it, you wanted us to explore more and take away a perceived adavntage. But what did you replace it with and why?
Is the class still useable? Yes
Is it competitive in all modes? Yes
But the actions taken changed the class alot. Here are some of my beefs. First off the replacement wasn't equal to the loss.
Burn was more than a weapon it was a tool. We have no quick evade and close combat has lost a lot of ground to other classes.
Next is why you changed it. One mode in the game it shined in and without a lot of data or facts it seems you listened to people that will always complain. Everyone has heard a person in trials have a meltdown and blame others, why listen to them?
Then there is the changes itself. Bungie you have a habit of going over even what the players suggested. Many disliked bolts, burn was an after thought. When cornered many of these players didn't mind the damage just the ticks. Why not shorten them and increase damage? Or revamp bolts? No one complains about Solar grenades and they have the same burn.
Last is your lack of details in the game and your communication. You don't define things very well on the site. People don't see that this class was based on the delivery system. Everything from grenades, melee and even the super is based on a strategy to deliver the chosen perks. We argue over if the class is support or not. I am still confused on where you are leading the class........give us some details why don't you.
So as a player that only plays this character because it is fun and that is why I bought this game please help me out. Can we get a real balance? Can you fill in some gaps that you made when you adjusted the burn, melee, self res, and grenades. You made this class you know how much that changed things.

SUMMED UP VERSION:
Bungie changed a class based on perks by altering the perks. This left gaps in the class. It is still usable and still can compete but it is still very broken and lacking. I don't think this class has a real identity now it is just kinda floating. I would like Bungie to decide what this class is supposed to be and finish what they started.
This class has a lot of potential and I love playing it. It is sad to see how broken the changes made it and how little even the community thinks of it. Truly balance and identify it or turn it back ad the new RoI gear will counter old effects.
Any thoughts
*edit*
I added a 1:30 clip of rumble. I'm not a complete lame and I am working on my angel of light skills right now. Montage out soon but people like to call names so I thought I would add. I don't use bolts, burn, self res or overshield. People are pushing for diversity but the other builds are lacking.

122 AntwortenThey changed Viking Funeral because it was being exploited. It allowed a Low Risk/Low Reward Grenade into a spamable Low Risk/High Reward. I don't know about you, but that is literally they definition of OP. The changes were made because it 1) turned an easy to use grenade into a damage house 2) it kept enemies from regaining health for 10 seconds. With both these in mind, a Low Damage Grenade that is very easy to throw and tag people, was given a damage increase making it a tool allowing people to throw them randomly, getting an easy tag on someone they didn't know was there, showing the enemy where they were for 10 seconds, and making the enemy be able to be one shot away (from primaries) from death for the 10 second duration. With all of this into consideration, it only took 25 seconds to recharge another making this grenade spamable. This grenade could be lobbed across the map to find an enemy, and then during the time it takes to kill the enemy, it will only have about 15 seconds before you can do the same thing. Mathematically, you are able to have enemies burning for a little less than half of the match without using radiance a single time. The grenade can tag 3 people meaning that this would be true for 3 guardians in a particular match. That's a whole team in trials. Being able to spam the easy to use grenade to win matches because of a constant number advantage is what made them so popular. The grenade practically carried people to the lighthouse. That is why they were changed; simply because Viking Funeral was being exploited. As for the changes, they fixed the problem while actually buffing the class. Now, by throwing a grenade at an enemy, your entire team can do more damage to any enemies hit. And if the grenade hits them before the damage tics, those tics will have increased damage. This changed made the burn not last as long which brings the time to recover down to 5 seconds. Now for only 1/5 of the match, players will be burning, but won't be able to be one shot killed by primaries when tagged by the easy to use grenade. But other than fixing the exploit, it dramatically increased the Support features of this Support Class. You can use Firebolts to easily tag multiple targets with the debuf, Solar Grenades to do massive damage to targets while making them focus more on escaping than doing damage, or use Fusion Grenades to do absolutely massive damage to enemies. This grenade will melt Supers or Ultras. Now, Sunsingers spamming Fusion Grenades with Viking Funeral do more damage than any weapon alone. People need to realize that spamming Exploits only makes themselves weaker in the end. If you depend on something that is considered wrong, when it is removed, you are left with no experience with anything else. As for the people who did exploit Funeral Bolts, they are now whining and complaining at how bad they do with Sunsingers because they no longer are able to exploit Viking Funeral. It's not everyone else's fault but theirs for trying to find the easy route rather than building their skill with the hard route. Bungie did their part and balanced the Sunsinger Class. They even said that they were working on the class, but didn't have the time to find a way that suited the class as a whole. Then the July Update hit and they pulled through with a change that buffed the class as a result. Bungie has over nerfed thing and over buffed things. Examples, Hand Cannons and Pulse Rifles. Everyone remembers those. Hand Cannons were replacements for Snipers and Pulse Rifles had the fastest TTK ever in Destiny. It's hard to find balance for a community consisting of millions of active players when you are only representing them with a 6 player Test Chamber. They are slowly making progress and will probably achieve full balance with RoI, a December Update, a Spring Update, or Destiny 2. Hey are slowly adjusting (buffing and nerfing) weapons until their desires are reflected by normal gameplay. You can't expect them to find the answer for millions with a group of less than 10. That's like taking a survey of 6 people from different countries and representing the world population. They will have to keep going back and recounting until they have the results that actually represent the world. People who say Bungie only Nerfs need to get out. They obviously never played since day 1. Most weapons are in a buffed state compared to day 1 values, but they say everything has been Nerfed. Let Bungie take their time to finally balance their game and then make opinions. Don't try to assume you know exactly what they think. They are trying to both make money, make Activision satisfied, and make the game that they set out to make. Nothing ever turns out right on the first attempt. Failure is what pushes us to continue in life. Now why don't you let hem learn from their miscalculations and keep going. All in all, Sunsingers are perfect right now. If you are having trouble using them, you might want to practice to get better at Destiny.

3 AntwortenWhat was that clip, showing us your aim? You only hit one headshot(not even with the Monte Carlo). The only thing you died from is jumping with the stupid warlock jump at the wrong time.
-
1 AntwortenDude. Let me rumble with you. You looked like you were fighting guardians that have no idea what this game is. Every rumble match I get into is a shitty fun fest of no scope snipers skating universal remote and blink shotgunners.
-
7 Antwortenwhat was the video about? dont understand why you included that in your post... imo now that we have an artifact that decreases dot dmg, i see no problem with the old viking funeral anymore. they could even rebuff the gunslingers burning knife. (rly, the last nerfs were completly pointless when they just add that artifact anyways..) this would be better since most people are probably going to use the artifact that boosts your stats and gives you 2 melees and 2 grenades. it would drive some of them away from it and using the dot artifact so we get a bit more variety.

Tlaloc + Sunginger w/sunbreakers = profit

3 AntwortenA lot of wahhhhhh in there. They nerf to kill the ability or perk they see as overused. Adapt... overcome... don't cry.
Strikers and Voidwalkers are next.

I prefer Striker on my Titan and Voidwalker on my Warlock so I'm not hating... just keeping it real.
The main reason for the changes to sunsingers was because the class was utterly stagnant and inflexible. Everyone knew that to be a good sunsinger you had to use a specific set of synergistic perks to excel, otherwise you were just putting yourself at a clear disadvantage.
-
4 AntwortenThe last time I remember anyone referring a sunsinger as a genuine support class, was when you wanted song of flame to cheese templar off the ledge.
-
7 AntwortenI wanna play against clueless Players as well. Dude the guys in the vid were so bad o.O
-
8 AntwortenIt's amazing how well some whinging worked to destroy a sub-class.
-
Honestly I love sunsinger more than voidwalker and stormcaller. Saving the team from a wipe with self res. Making cool down go fast. Honestly if I wasn't a hunter main I would play warlock more.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von Typical Canadian: 9/6/2016 7:00:29 PMAfter the firebolt and viking funeral nerf, Sunsinger just feels unplayable to me. Voidwalker ftw!

1 AntwortenAt least yall consistently burn. Meanwhile flaming knives are at about 1/3 on fire. Been that way since launch, no idea why. The perk doesn't say "may ignite enemies hit" it says "ignites enemies when hit." don't even care about the reduced ticks either, there's been way to many times Ive stuck someone with what should be 1 or 2 ticks of health left and they don't die. I've no beef with titans, I suck with mine so I won't pretend to be an expert but I can accept that others are better than me with different things. Although they do need to rework hit detection for the charges. I've been violently shoved out of the way without taking damage quite a few times, I'm relieved when it happens but I know it's not supposed to.

1 AntwortenFrustrating Encounters was there reason for nerfing them! I just don't get why they nerfed the DoT when Bungie had already been planning an anti DoT artifact - Bungie Logic
-
4 AntwortenThe problem has and continues to be that Bungie balance classes based on how well they can be used to cheese Trails. Trials has different rules to normal crucible and so using trials as a balancing point is always going to screw the class up massively for any other Destiny game content. You will, for example, never actually see a group of three sunbreaker Titans or Sunsinger Warlocks running through standard crucible, IB, Strikes, or raids in any kind of co-ordinated and effective way yet the class was re-balanced based on teams of three mic'ed up friends doing exactly that in trials.
-
1 AntwortenThey only changed the arithmetic instead of doing what would be "interesting". The burns helped me keep shields down of foes in pve and track wizards that hid behind cover to do just that. Light is not so impressive when it fizzles out so quickly. If the burns were such a concern in pvp, running and sliding should have been the universal mechanic for eliminating DoT.

2 AntwortenHi Cisco. I'm too lazy to read the whole thing :P
-
1 AntwortenUr wrong . The point of the nerf was because the whole class was being used one way only and exploited . They took away one perk and all of a sudden the class is unusable .. No not at all . It's just not stupid op anymore. There are plenty sunsingers doing fine right now who have adapted to different builds. Which is what destiny is.. It changes frequently and people adapt .. Then get really good with it then all of a sudden it's op because people finally use it right ..
-
3 AntwortenU are talking about bungie. The company that call a grenade a tripmine. Yet it isnt a mine at all. Real mines are HIDDEN. And DO NOT explode for no reason.
-
8 AntwortenYou could use fusion Grenades and be broken as heck
-
1 AntwortenI 100% agree. Sunsinger is not a support class. A class revolving around grenades is naturally going to have good grenades. Were Burnbolts OP? I personally didnt think so. It was the only strength the class had and at the time Nightstalker still had its ridiculous Wombo Combo. They couldn't nerf onr without nerfing the other. When the Warlock Re-balancing that came with the April Update, they nerfed every thing else apart from the Sunsinger burn, which was good. That was the only strength it had. Then Bungie took that away also, without going back on their previous nerfs. Sunsinger is in such a weird spot right now. Yes, you can be successful with Sticky Grenades, but any class becomes better with Sticky Grenades. I could use Dual Fusion on a Sunbreaker and do the exact same thing with a better super as well. Sunsinger needs something done to it. Sidenote: I know you use Sunsinger alot, what build exactly do you use?
-
15 AntwortenBearbeitet von TheGatheringDusk: 9/6/2016 3:35:06 AMWhinging you tubers. They wanted to use night stalkers and spam wombo combo and shadestep. They hated getting tagged by a fire bolt and having to hide to recover because they run max armour and agility, you don't look like a MLG on your stream when your hiding. They complained and their mindless followers jumped on the bandwagon. Bungie said they wouldn't nerf the burn as its intrinsic to the class, the whinging continued so they nerfed the burn.
-
1 AntwortenI just want sunsinger to be reworked into a support class. Something that you can go into a raid and actually feel/think "hey, I am really helping my team survive/kill the boss etc.
-
3 AntwortenI use a Hunter as my Main. When it's a me versus Sunsinger only, I don't really see the problems (mainly because I'm constantly moving, dodging and recovering). Then when it comes to say Trials of Osiris versus three sun singers on Viking funeral run, I can see where your coming from. But honestly, I don't care. I believe that Bungie, although it may have its faults, knows best for its game. They may give some smallish DLC which we can breeze through easily, but when you step back and realise how much you've done in this large ass game overall, it's actually really fun (especially if you start a new character from beginning and realising HOW MUCH THERE IS TO BLOODY DO!!). So honestly, I'll have a rage at things, but I try not chasing it up because I know that my set of skills can counter a lot, as with anyone, but I'm not unbeatable. Neither is those that beat me down with ease. In the end, it shows true skill to be able to switch tactics and show your multitude in a variety of things. But if this is too long and you didn't read it, simply take the following line into consideration. TL;DR "There is no such thing as 'best', because you can always be better."
-
I do like the new debuff on Viking Funeral though. Fusion rifles like Telesto and Plan C gaining crits as often as I can gain a grenade is really fun.
