This is mainly a summation of my frustration since returning to Destiny last month.
Ive seen whiner/salty posts previously claiming that Bungie is manipulating games so that one side has an advantage over the other, etc. I hope this post does not come off that way. I just have some serious questions that hopefully the community and people with similar experiences might be able to shed some light on.
I am not a great PvPer, but I'm not terrible either. I feel confident enough with my "skill level" to know when I lost a gunfight or got outsmarted vs when something was awry (lag or w/e). However, recently it feels as if something more sinister I guess is at play.
Some matches I will come out on top, some on the very bottom. Some with a high kd/r, some with a pitiful one. Fluctuation is natural when you're up against different people. Lately it feels like the fluctuation is far too much to be a simple disparity in skill levels or connections.
For instance, I can get a 4+ kd/r in one match and we absolutely stomp the opposition, but not enough to break our group up. Next match will be nearly the same lobby minus one person and then our team loses by an even larger number and my kd/r is like .3 and my teammates are also negative, while the opposing team that we just crushed is all positive. That lobby gets broken up and the cycle continues.
It seems there is some sort of algorithm causing a 1 win 1 loss cycle. Winning a match by a lot, breaking up, then getting destroyed the next one or getting thrown into the losing side of a match 99% of the way completed.
This is not even to mention all the nonsense that seems to happen when it appears one side has the "advantage". Getting shot through walls too frequently for P2P lag to be the only cause, phantom bullets, guys surviving full on shotguns to the head while only losing 1/4 health, some guns turning to marshmallow shooters while others turn into rocket launchers.
Would just like some community feedback and to see if others are experiencing this. Because this is not fun PvP. Destiny PvP always had its shortcomings, but at the very least it was usually fun and entertaining. This is just frustrating.

Don't go for shotgun head shots and you are probably inconsistent at your gameplay and maps/gun load out composition can change a lot of people's play. I'm also not sure how bungie would benefit from this.

1 AntwortenActually it's pretty common knowledge that yes it's manipulated. They manipulate the system to try and maintain a certain average for everyone. Do to terrible, a few easy games, too good a few hard ones. Destinys PvP is a really terrible joke

Private matches dude.

Something about maintaining a 50% win ratio for all players last I heard, but yes.

1 AntwortenAs someone who pretty much mains a shotgun since after TDB, I can tell you that the consistency of it has taken a serious nose dive. I can have a guy dead in my sights, shoot first, and nothing happens. They shoot me, and I die. So I look around the walls, floor, ceiling, pretty much everywhere for signs of my pellets and see nothing. It's as if I shot a blank. This problem seems to be getting worse and began a little after TTK came out. It's really getting frustrating to me because all I mainly play anymore is pvp. Might switch to overarching and give thay game a try if this continues

Yes. It is manipulated. In their most recent Edge Magazine interview, it was alluded to that Bungie wants us to maintain a 50% win/loss ratio. So if you're on a hot streak, be prepared for the game to throw you a curveball of extreme humiliating pubstomping every once and a while.

Well, I can say for certain there's player tampering here and there, but not on Bungie's end. Self res. Titans, going from slaughtering to an oh so convenient lag that's making a specific guy nearly unkillable with convenient teleportations, getting shot through walls (and yes, I understand hit boxes, but there's also some obvious obscenities). These people who manipulate disgust me, and I hope that they feel the banhammer in due time... I'm just not really sure how it's become more prevalent?
-
It was already mentioned by the developers that they strive for players to maintain a 1.0 w/l. So, yes there is some manipulation in the game in regards to that. How to subvert it? Full fireteams help. They can't stick you with people in a lopsided setup.
-
Yep happens all the time, but you mentioned what the issue is most of the time and that is connection. Peer 2 peer is never good but in this game its a joke, the net code for this game is the worst I've ever known.

I think when you start losing you get pitted against worse players while winning pits you against better players. It's a pretty sound mechanic.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von SamuraiSloth_: 9/2/2016 8:21:16 AMMy brother's mate knew some guy who while he was backpacking in Cambodia talked to a local in a bar. Apparently not 2 weeks before he'd been talking to an American ex-government official who was on the run. This guy told him he had seen some classified documents about how they've added a new substance to Chemtrails that manipulate your Internet connection, causing all sorts of weird crap. The upshot is a lot of frustrated people who are too angry to notice what the government is doing! Wake up Sheeple!

Wait, you didn't know it was?

1 AntwortenLMAO hell yeah it is dude! Take off that competitive tag, for starters.. Definitely staying out of the garbage fest today, too. Xur is fcking selling TLW. Can't even deal with that.

Yes. Sometimes you get the top connection and sometimes the bottom. Happens on bombs also

10 Antwortendefinitely, many times i needed to win just one control (for example) match to complete Shax's weekly bounties, where i would lose 10 in a row getting absolutely pub stomped this can't be coincidence

1 AntwortenGuess that Destiny PVP has finally turned into MMSG (Massive MultiGod Swearing Game). I finished all known Gods to swear when I play PVP,I passed to Cthulu mitology by now!
-
3 AntwortenBungie wants people at a 50% win rate, so it's not out of the question that they'll give you easier or harder matches. In PvP in Destiny, you feeling like a bad-ass is at the detriment of another player's experience. So, since Bungie is going to try to give you really difficult matches sometimes, people should focus on how they played in the match, not the out come.
-
Yes it is

Simplest answer is usually the right one. Ppl have good maps and bad ones. One map I get stomped by Johnny quickscope and the next I'm beating him bc I'm on a map that I know I'm strong on so my confidence is higher and my aim is spot on. Momentum shifts happen in sports all the time. One team dominates the first half and the other team wins bc they rekt in the second. If you start playing really well it will rally your team around you and help them get in the "zone". My 2 pennies

It seems like a lot of people are reporting this recently. And with my friends it also has been extremely variable like this. Last week one friend messaged me "Help!" He said that crucible seemed broken to him. After doing well over the weekend (he is very analytical and has sought a lot of advice and works hard to improve), he had a few days where he went in and suddenly felt like he couldn't kill anyone. Over the past couple of weeks we've had so many days where we hit runs of matches where we suddenly can't kill anyone. I feel like I'm mired in molasses, and somehow I can't get my reticle on the enemy's head before he seemingly two-shots me. Sometimes it feels like a match-to-match variability. But then also, we had a good run on Wednesday night, really fun, then last night hit a really tough stretch, and one friend said that Bungie said we had too much fun the previous night.

There's not enough spinfoil in the cosmodrome for this post.

5 AntwortenBearbeitet von QMR://DH779: 9/2/2016 4:07:26 AMI can't tell you how many times I get killed out of the blue. Nothing will be on my radar and all of sudden shotgun blasted by a guy flying through the air. You can blame crouching, but even that puts up an occasional ping, they are not all invis hunters either. Too many times I am left wondering where the hell the dude who killed me came from. I watch my radar religiously too. I've earned my kd but there is something fishy here, it happens way too often.

Yes every second or third game the other team get some kind of handicap. It usually takes an extra headshot to kill them which makes a huge difference to the final outcome. I dont understand how bungie thinks this is a good business model ea and bungie have destroyed good games with this handicapping bullshit

1 AntwortenI joined a doubles game where we were losing 600 to 3400 they get one kill as im spawning in and we get mercy ruled
-
4 AntwortenSo why do I have an 80% win percentage?
