This is mainly a summation of my frustration since returning to Destiny last month.
Ive seen whiner/salty posts previously claiming that Bungie is manipulating games so that one side has an advantage over the other, etc. I hope this post does not come off that way. I just have some serious questions that hopefully the community and people with similar experiences might be able to shed some light on.
I am not a great PvPer, but I'm not terrible either. I feel confident enough with my "skill level" to know when I lost a gunfight or got outsmarted vs when something was awry (lag or w/e). However, recently it feels as if something more sinister I guess is at play.
Some matches I will come out on top, some on the very bottom. Some with a high kd/r, some with a pitiful one. Fluctuation is natural when you're up against different people. Lately it feels like the fluctuation is far too much to be a simple disparity in skill levels or connections.
For instance, I can get a 4+ kd/r in one match and we absolutely stomp the opposition, but not enough to break our group up. Next match will be nearly the same lobby minus one person and then our team loses by an even larger number and my kd/r is like .3 and my teammates are also negative, while the opposing team that we just crushed is all positive. That lobby gets broken up and the cycle continues.
It seems there is some sort of algorithm causing a 1 win 1 loss cycle. Winning a match by a lot, breaking up, then getting destroyed the next one or getting thrown into the losing side of a match 99% of the way completed.
This is not even to mention all the nonsense that seems to happen when it appears one side has the "advantage". Getting shot through walls too frequently for P2P lag to be the only cause, phantom bullets, guys surviving full on shotguns to the head while only losing 1/4 health, some guns turning to marshmallow shooters while others turn into rocket launchers.
Would just like some community feedback and to see if others are experiencing this. Because this is not fun PvP. Destiny PvP always had its shortcomings, but at the very least it was usually fun and entertaining. This is just frustrating.

"Is Destiny PvP Purposefully Manipulated?" With RED bar connections popping up, wild swings in the scoring, and Load Shaxx constantly saying "You're in the lead", "You've lost the lead", makes one feel like Bungie just waits until the last ten seconds to 'flip a coin' to see who wins the match....

2 AntwortenI definitely feel this way. I record basically every play I make for further analysis of my game play which is basically the whole game and the same person I killed last game when I had a 3kd is some how doing the exact same shit but killing me every time and now I have a .9kd
-
If it is, how will it work in private matches?
-
Yes I believe it is
-
So glad to hear this. I have felt so incredibly inconsistent lately. Glad it's not just me.

1 AntwortenThey try to keep everyone at a 1 k/d and a 1 w/l

Bearbeitet von FatNinjaSenpai: 9/2/2016 5:39:16 PMThere is a way to rig SBMM, start a fresh character and make sure your team loses every game, to do this run at the enemy until you have a horrible kd (less than .25) in every playlist, then then when you be matched against potatoes every match, if your kd gets to high screw around try to get some no scopes or something till you are back down, did this on my hunter it is some of the most fun I've ever had.
-
1 AntwortenAfter their lies about SBMM even to their own staff, anything is possible I guess.
-
I believe most of it has to do with player to player connection. It's incredibly unstable and inconsistent across the board.
-
I have a video of me getting sniped through the floor during a trials match.
-
Some of these responses got me like
-
It feels like that sometimes. One match I can shotgun someone in a different zip code and the next I can shove the barrel in their mouth and not get a kill.
-
When I first read posts along these lines, I thought they were ridiculous. As I play more pvp my opinion is quickly changing. The inconsistency from match to match is crazy. Even within the same lobby so its not straight sbmm. I'm still not convinced its intentional but man that is some sh*tty code!
-
1 AntwortenI have a clip of a guy just walking around with a shotgun getting multiple kills and when I did face him with my matador, it did zero damage, and this happened like, 3 times in this match. It was rumble, btw.
-
I doubt it. Bungie matches you based on your win streak, overall kd, and win loss. There are lots of variables at play.
-
Prepare for a mida, shogun nerf, because as you know streamers can't use anything else except a last word and a Sniper
-
Purposely

I feel the same way. Had one game were i went 36 kills and 2 deaths. Next game, exact same lobby, went 5 kills and 11 deaths. Didnt change my strategy or do too many stupid mistakes, nothing really just worked! And with ghost bullets, they say you have to pace your shots, but that doesnt apply to pve where you can spam as much as you want and still hit. It seems to be a pvp related issue only.
-
1 AntwortenMan, I thought it was just me. Glad to see it's not just me. But what frustrates me the most is whenever I hit my shots because believe me I do with that dank KD lol, but when I hit 3 headshots with Jade Rabbit or spray someone with my sidearm, sometimes the bullets that I put in enemies, they don't register and I usually stop shooting them since I know my weapons TTK but apparently, it's like this purposely happens so players who are trying to get better are spoon fed kills. Either that, or atrocious lag from 1 or 2 players who always manage to bang me when I'm in the heat of a gunfight. It's freaking stupid.

1 AntwortenYes they have a controlled game algorithm. They try to balance the win loss ratio. Some games it's impossible to win. They also you a combination of sbmm and cbmm. In there most recent changes they now "prioritize" cbmn. ....But... that could could mean they have go by 51% cbmm and 49% sbmm so it's still not clear. Then trials goes off the card wins. It system always tries to match you with a person with 0-1 wins on your first game. Next it matches you with 1-4 wins people till you hit 4 wins. Once your at four wins it matches you with people at 4-5 wins or 7-8 wins. Once your at 6-7 wins it you'll usually play 6-7 wins with some discrepancy. But once your at 8-9 wins you play no one under 7 wins. Trails main mm is the wins on a card. Iron banner is the same as Regular crucible as far as cbmm/ sbmm but the win loss ratio is put into effect more.

I'm terrible at destiny pvp. But then it's a minefield of cheaters. Jump on battlefield and I'm decent.
-
2 AntwortenU do know bungie admitted in the beginning of the year they want everyone to have a 50% win/ lose ratio that's why u do good some matches and bad on other ones, if u win to many matches is all most guaranteed matchmaking will give u very bad players so there is no way u goin to win that match so u maintain 50%win/lose ratio, a less u play with a team all the time ,, there is few interviews on planet destiny with bungie where they admitted to this,,,

Well, none of us know. I definitely have a similar experience. It almost feels like the problem (probably lag) hits one team harder, or maybe just a set of players. It can definitely change within a game, or be lousy or great the whole game. For sure though, people complain when it hurts them but not when it helps them and both happen. A lot. Which is why almost all of my posts are about dedicated servers and none of them are about nerfs. I don't get why the entire community isn't storming the gates asking for this. Destiny would absolutely rule the gaming universe if PvP didn't have these issues. And imagine how awesome it would be to trade all of that frustration for fun. It is still fun when it works but it needs to be way more consistent.
-
1 Antwortenit's just host advantage the more often you get it, the more often you play well. I've come to realize skill determines the outcome less and less often
-
Instead of people trying to guess what's going on I would love Bungie to reply to some of these posts and really tell us the truth.
-
Don't go for shotgun head shots and you are probably inconsistent at your gameplay and maps/gun load out composition can change a lot of people's play. I'm also not sure how bungie would benefit from this.
