This is mainly a summation of my frustration since returning to Destiny last month.
Ive seen whiner/salty posts previously claiming that Bungie is manipulating games so that one side has an advantage over the other, etc. I hope this post does not come off that way. I just have some serious questions that hopefully the community and people with similar experiences might be able to shed some light on.
I am not a great PvPer, but I'm not terrible either. I feel confident enough with my "skill level" to know when I lost a gunfight or got outsmarted vs when something was awry (lag or w/e). However, recently it feels as if something more sinister I guess is at play.
Some matches I will come out on top, some on the very bottom. Some with a high kd/r, some with a pitiful one. Fluctuation is natural when you're up against different people. Lately it feels like the fluctuation is far too much to be a simple disparity in skill levels or connections.
For instance, I can get a 4+ kd/r in one match and we absolutely stomp the opposition, but not enough to break our group up. Next match will be nearly the same lobby minus one person and then our team loses by an even larger number and my kd/r is like .3 and my teammates are also negative, while the opposing team that we just crushed is all positive. That lobby gets broken up and the cycle continues.
It seems there is some sort of algorithm causing a 1 win 1 loss cycle. Winning a match by a lot, breaking up, then getting destroyed the next one or getting thrown into the losing side of a match 99% of the way completed.
This is not even to mention all the nonsense that seems to happen when it appears one side has the "advantage". Getting shot through walls too frequently for P2P lag to be the only cause, phantom bullets, guys surviving full on shotguns to the head while only losing 1/4 health, some guns turning to marshmallow shooters while others turn into rocket launchers.
Would just like some community feedback and to see if others are experiencing this. Because this is not fun PvP. Destiny PvP always had its shortcomings, but at the very least it was usually fun and entertaining. This is just frustrating.

I've been saying this for months now.!! And all ly friends think I'm crazy?! But after they did the match making update, something has been super fishy.!! Shots doesn't register ? My shotgun shots at close range6, does no damage.. I'm getting killed by a melee, from a dead guardian, shot through walls.. Heavy seems to still be available, even though the other team picked it up.. Enemies not popping up on radar until they are right in front of you (no, they are not crouching or using blink).. And in trials, it's getting even more outta hand.!! They whole "win one, loose one" makes trials a total bïtch.!! I know you im getting out played by someone better.. But loosing to a team of newbs, cuz my melee doesn't kill them, even though they are at looooow health, and then wrecking a really GOOD player in the next, makes no sense.? And it seems to happen after two or three matches, where you're on top.. I used to go flawless a few times a week.. But after the "match making update" a few weeks back, PvP has been a HUGE joke.. It oisses me off so bad, that my skill and hard work, isn't paying off at all.? It took me a whole year, shit you not, to find my builds and weapon setup.. And got good at those builds.. I wrecked with those builds.. And then, BOOM. now you're guns are useless, and your health is gone in a sec, even if you have an active super.. A titan melee to the knee, is enough to stop a storm caller apparently? I call manioulation6at it's finest.. Bungie has favorites.. And they do what they can, to cater to their needs.. Fück you guys.. Give us back our skills and confidence !!

18 AntwortenI totally believe that there is a handicap system in place at multiple levels for solo players. Winning too much? Here are some crappy teammates. Still manage to win (the only player who has a positive KD)? Here are crappier teammates and here's an armor reduction AND a shot randomizer. How the heck did you win (super close match only because other team has people who quit or lag out)? Here. Take all of the above and now you're going to spawn next to the other team every time. Oh, and your movement speed / accuracy are slightly reduced. Just to make sure, the Architects have been summoned - random rocks and stairs are now fatal. Maximum salt generation mode is now enabled until the required number of losses have been achieved. Yesssssss. The promise of a 50/50 win/loss ratio has been kept. Let the cycle begin again...

2 AntwortenA friend of mine recorded a video which proves absolutely that Destiny manipulates damage dealt. The only question is how much and in what way. See what happened here is a server glitch caused him to be recognized as "down". He was up running around but the opposing team ignored him, presumably he wasn't visible to them, this wasn't a lag issue, he was just mislabled by the network. He would shoot them and his primary weapons did nothing, special weapons did significantly reduced damage, like, barely anything, both grenade and smoke damage was almost nonexistent. A grenade would take down like a quarter health at most. Then his super came up and that's when he realized what was going on, because he hit someone with his super, and it granted him a postmortem kill bonus. Gods. Only know what the poor dude he snuffed thought... Probably screaming "wtf hax!"... It wasn't until he literally jumped off the map to kill him self to see if that would reset his character that the system recognized him and let him play... What this tells us is that Bungie /definitely/ is engaged in actively tampering with damage done in at least the scenario of post mortem situations to decrease the odds of "trading". Special weapons unlikely to get a post mortem kill, primary weapons it's impossible, grenades and melees do a little better, and supers are set to grant a kill even if you did die in the process. If they're tampering with damage dealt in this way, they're probably manipulating pvp in other ways too. If you're expecting a fair playing field....... For better or worse I doubt you're getting it.

2 AntwortenSee "accidentally on purpose bandwidth manipulation" (google it) Yes You can intentionally lag and dodge banhammers Short version Third party services(and indeed servers) pushing.their way into a live session. Player who does.this is.recompensated for.their.packet loss.by third party, which.in.turn causes.packet loss.for.everyone else in.session. Unfortunately streaming, destiny tracker.and.every other third.party service tank. The p2p setup - or ability.to.communicate with each.other.point. And.bungie.does.nothing.except.encourage this

Questions, and these are relevant by the way: 1. How exactly is this algorithm matching us up? Is it based off of whether we win or lose, based off of last k/d, or what? 2. When you leave a match at or near the beginning, does it count as a loss?
-
1 AntwortenI never believed this so much until yesterday... I had a string of amazing games where my last word shot felt so good and I could hit everything. After 5 or 6 of these games and winning them suddenly it's like bungie slammed me with a brick wall and my last word was missing the shots I was hitting those previous games. My snipes suddenly did no damage and I switched to a shotgun which didn't even do damage from the range where anyone else's shotgun would've 1 hit. -blam!-ing rigged game even if you beat the skill based matchmaking they make connections heavily favor the opposing team.

Sim, tem algo errado mesmo. Chega a ser insuportável e irritante continuar a jogar o multiplayer de Destiny, já passou da hora de colocar servidores melhores especialmente no Brasil onde tem muita pessoa com lag.
-
6 AntwortenLook up TheBlackLink on YouTube. He did a video sort of touching on this subject. Pay attention to what the Bungie guys say.

3 AntwortenRemember those days when they say Xur is totally RNG? damn those people were naive. Every element in this game is manipulated.
-
On the fly buffs/debuffs are feasible. Remember your guns perform differently in PvE than PvP with the meta at hand. Shouldn't be too difficult to have it apply on a case by case basis. Some of it I think is artificially introduced lag. The server sends out your packets just behind then your PoV is slightly behind. Enemy already gunned you down but you are dead and don't know it for a second or two.

4 AntwortenThat is destiny pvp in a nutshell. I have the same thing everyday now. I played elimination solo (matchmade) the other day and got the phantom medal we won i had a 5+k.d. Went into the next game all the same people and i got wrecked everyone of them i shot just would not die. They i would be died in a blink of a eye. I finished the game on a 0.8 k/d. I sat there scratching my head and thinking to myself what had i done wrong. I am no where near the best pvper but i could finish near the top three (6v6) on most game types and hold my own on 3v3 (trials) included but lately one good game then near bottom back to top half then bottom. Extra note trials is a mess first year was amazing most fun i had. This year complete waste of time and this is my opinion so please dont with the rage messages. This year i have been so close to the lighthouse so many times it is unreal but the last game 30% of the time i hold my hands up and beating by the better team. The other 70% had lag switchers/ddos/cheaters/hackers what ever you want to call them but it is stuid how many people are doing it. I know year one had it too but no where near this bad i have played a team on 8-0 we won the first round without them getting a kill from the second round all of them had shadow shot continuously and where just covering everywhere so we couldnt move (after patch to stop glitch). The streamer/carrier thing needs to be stopped too not for me as i like nothing better than beating these people for all there viewers to see but i know more and more people stop doing trials because it is not against average people and dont have a chance of getting 5 wins never mind 9. But bungie wont as it is free advertising for destiny all they have to do is once someone has been to the lighthouse on all characters they are locked out of trials with them characters and can go back and sweat elimination for the rest of the weekend. Gives all the average joes a chance of getting some loot from 5/7 wins might still not get to the lighthouse but gives them hope. I know trials is for the best of the best and all this that bungie made it out to be but bungie also said their words EVERYTHING IN DESTINY CAN BE COMPLETED BY EVERYONE. Not with trials i think trials will lose a lot of people with ROI as a lot of people will just do private matches then put them selfs through trials and getting wiped 5-0 over and over again by streamers/carriers. Let me know your thoughts for and against but dont be rude as some people are. Thanks

1 AntwortenDefinitely some shit programming going on. How else do you explain starting a match at 6v 5? With the thousands and thousands of people playing this game, they can't find the right number of players to start a match? Really?

4 AntwortenCrucible is a disgrace right now. Its down to sbmm simple as that. Year one was cbmm and it was actually fun with only the odd laggy player here and there but now since sbmm every single match had a red bar. Its also rediculous that i lose 5 in a row before im told their breaking up the teams but if i win one, yep their breaking up the teams. The last matchmaking update was total aids and its totally thrown me off my game, i have lost all cofidence. Bungie dont give 2 fuks either. When they announced the changes and asked for feedback they had 3500 comments 98% negative and against the new settings yet they didnt reply once and just deleted the post. Why ask for out opinion if their just gonna do it anyways? It seems like they can have 3500 negative comments but as long as there is one positve then Thats good enough for them. This game isnt fun anymore, i come on for a chill out and get off raging. Thats not fun. Time to take a break away, maybe even a permanent one. If battlefeild 1 turns out to be the game im hoping then sadly destiny will be no more for me which is a shame as im a day one player with over 2000 Hours, sad to see bungie drive it into the ground with bad decisions. Fuk u bungie.

The algorithm is called heavy ammo. Don't forget to pick it up.

3 AntwortenBearbeitet von SoAnnoying: 9/3/2016 4:31:18 PMJust played some of BattleField 1 Beta. OMG, it makes Destiny's PvP seem prehistoric.... Players can see which server they are connected to and the connection quality "PING" to the server. Hopefully, with the release of the 'Rise of Iron' Bungie will be able to show us something that doesn't date back to 1200 BC....

Do they apply modifiers?
-
It does calculate spawn points for a long time sometimes...its clearly manipulating for some end. The amount of time. Es I've spawned right around the corner from an active super is ridiculous
-
This happens constantly to me. I'm in Rumble and I win a couple games, but then the next few I have shotgun shots not registering everytime and I have more Phantom Bullets than usual on my hand cannon. It unexplainable but happens all the time.

16 AntwortenI've been saying this since launch! It's a well-known fact that Bungo buffs streamers Armor and Recovery, as well as practically doubling their aim assist.

4 AntwortenHoly crap. This is EXACTLY what I've been seeing. Matter of fact, me and my friends that PVP a lot have recently had several, several conversations about this. Bear in mind that some of my friends don't even play together, so these were independent, separate conversations between different groups in which this issue was brought up, and everyone seemed to be saying they noticed the same thing. Everyone generally appears to agree that it seems to happen mostly, if not only, when queuing solo, and it sounds exactly like some sort of handicap system designed to balance win/loss ratios and occurs exactly as you and some of the others on here have described: Queing solo... A. Your team slaughters other team = Team is immediately broken up. You are either placed in a match that is nearly complete in which your team is getting destroyed, or you are placed on a team where you cannot hit anything. They will be zipping all over the place, not showing up on radar until it's too late, shooting through walls, point blank shotguns to the face do nothing, outgunned by every weapon no matter how fast or how accurate you appear to be, and everyone on your team goes negative. B. You end a match with a k/d of 2-5 or so, and next match, you cannot hit anything. They will be zipping all over the place, not showing up on radar until it's too late, shooting through walls, point blank shotguns to the face do nothing, outgunned by every weapon no matter how fast or how accurate you appear to be, and you end the match with a .38 k/d or some such garbage. End result is that through no fault in your own skill and gameplay, you will constantly fluctuate between wins, losses, good k/d, bad k/d, so that you and/or your team will never do consistently well, and everything evens out. I was hesitant to bring this up on the forums, because no doubt some idiot would be like, "you just need to git gud, scrub," but everyone I've talked to has noticed this. I'm not a hardcore player. In fact I'm very casual, but by no means am I a bad player, and I usually do fairly decent. But this... this handicap thing feels way to predictable and real to just be everyone's imagination. So yeah, totally agree with you, dude, and it is BS.
