All hive have worms. Auryx and akka also directly mention it.
When auryx seeks the power to commune with the darkness, he kills his sisters. He then says to akka that he will kill him. Akka then says he hasn't gained enough power through sword logic. Auryx then says he does because he killed his powerful sisters, then kills akka and gets more power

The Hive's source of power is their worm, they feed through killing. Sword Logic is just a method for feeding their Worm
Take into your bodies our children, our newborn larvae. From them you shall obtain eternal life. From them you shall gain power over your own fragile flesh: the power to make of it as you will. And should you find an imperfection in the world, an injustice or an inconvenience — you will have the power to repair it. Let no mere law bind you. We ask one thing in exchange, oh Princes. You must obey your nature forever. In your immortality, Aurash, you may never cease to explore and inquire, for the sake of your children. In your immortality, Xi Ro, you may never cease to test your strength. In your immortality, Sathona, you may never abandon cunning. If you do, your worm will consume you. And as your power grows, oh Princes, so will your worm’s appetite.
If that were true, how were we able to damage oryx's worm in king's fall, but not be able to damage oryx? He has destroyed hundreds, thousands, perhaps millions of species. We wouldn't stand a chance if the worm held the power.
-
If Oryx held that power, how would we have been able to do damage to him in the Regicide mission? And if a Hive could get power directly through killing instead of feeding their Worm and getting a vicarious power, what would be the point in making a deal with a Worm. They would bring nothing to the table other than an unquenchable thirst
-
Well, they feed them to live. If the power was in the worm, wouldn't touch of malice be really powerful right now. To the point of a 1-shot to anything. You actually have a point. I think oryx himself was really powerful as well as the worm. Also, I know why we could damage him in regicide. Your argument works both ways, if his worm was stronger, how could we damage him? He was weakened. Plus, his worm was inside of willbreaker? (Unless ime wrong about that.) Doesn't he take his worm from it before retreating?

The Heart in ToM is what remains of Oryx's worm. But Oryx himself isn't powerful, without a Worm he'd have a lifespan of around two years. Crota's tribute was big, but not big enough to cut down Oryx's power. And the Worm is in his body, not the Sword.

Bearbeitet von RumblingJOSEPH: 9/4/2016 4:43:23 AMI thought it was 10 years? We killed a lot more than just crota. Keep in mind all the thrall, acolytes, etc. Not only that, but we killed his warpriest, golgoroth, darkblade, etc. We wiped out large, important parts of his tribute. What did he take from his sword?
-
Something around there, definitely under 15. But the way tribute works is like a tax. Thrall give to Acolytes, Acolytes to Knights/Wizards and them to higher up Hive all the way to Ascendant Hive and Hive Gods. Killing them effects their higher up up until the Ascendant and Gods, they get their payment even if it hurts their subordinates. Killing lower Hive is basically like taking pieces of half copper from a bank while the king has an entire vault of platinum, you'd have to take a lot to make a dent. Golgoroth and the Warpriest weren't providing any source of Tribute when we killed them. The reason Oryx noticed Crota's missing tribute was because he was late on his payment. And the Darkblade was in prison. But Oryx took either his power of the Deep or whatever powers the Dreadnaught's weapon

Bearbeitet von RumblingJOSEPH: 9/4/2016 5:03:49 AMI already knew about his tithe system. Oh I see. I always thought that was his worm because he puts it on his chest, right where the worm is in the raid.

Every Hive's Worm is in their body, tucked in nice and snug with their soul so that just in case their host can't feed them anymore, they have one last snack
