Anyone Else Saving Up Engrams for Rise of Iron?
I don't know if this will work or not, but I heard that it did for TTK's April update. I have about 10 gold engrams and quite a few legendary and sublime engrams stashed in the vault and postmaster, waiting for the new expansion to turn in and get new exotics (especially warlock legs). I don't plan to cash them in immediately, but will wait until I level up a bit and then turn them in.
If it works, I'll have some shiny new stuff; if it doesn't. I'll have some exotic shards which I sorely need. Win-win.
Anyone else going to try this?
EDIT: 24 hours later, most replies are of the belief that it won't work the way it did in April, due to that being an update rather than an expansion. This may very well be, but I see nothing to lose from trying.
I'm still sticking with my plan, since even if the engrams decrypt as old gear, they [i]should[/i] (fingers crossed) be consistent with my new, higher light level. They will also rapidly boost my cryptarch level and yield new gear that way. I've even started letting blue engrams stack up a bit at the postmaster.

I do just out of GP. If nothing else, I'll rank up the Cryptarch and get those packages...also gain more shards.

I did that for the april update and it gave exotics that they brought to year 2 for that update

If you already have the exotics you need and your character is 335, save them until the expansion hits. If it drops at a higher light level, then you win.. If not, you can level up the cryptarch and break items down for legendary marks which you can use for more vangard, crucible and faction gear. I am saving up planetary materials, strange coins, motes of light, and edging my factions up so that they will rank up with a bounty or two which will give you better gear. Dont forget to max out glimmer and legendary marks before the update drops. I am up in the air about leveling up the gun smith, kinda doing it when I have free time but not sure if it is going to help or not. My vault is also full of gear I am ready to break down, so that I can get more marks quickly.

Ive got over 150 exotic and legendary stashed. Even if they dont drop ROI gear it will still give you a lot of legendary marks to buy any new gaer from vendors.

4 AntwortenAccording to Bungie engrams from year 2 are going to be able to drop year 3 stuff. And even if they don't exotic engrams are the best way to level up the crypt arch and therefore get year 3 packages. I'm also going to be saving motes of light and heavy ammo synths.

Most likely they will not decrypt into Rise of Iron gear. But with the loot system set as it is, it's more than likely that exotic engrams will decrypt at higher light levels (still TTK stuff but above 335 light depending on your light level) and legendaries will just be good for getting more legendary marks to buy ROI gear from vendors

I am not yet saving engrams, I figured I would start holding onto legendary and exotics about two weeks out.

Yes, but I did use my exotic primary and specials in spite, due to the TTK PS exclusive weapons staying exclusive for another bullshit year. So effin pissed!

Yeah ive got close to 50 exotic engrams. Im not saving them for gear though, they will decrypt into xp so when i rank up i will get engrams of higher light

Yep. All exotic engrams are going into the vault, but no other engrams. I've actually taken a break from Destiny and gone back to Dragon Age now that I finished the moments of triumph.

No it won't work, and you're thinking of the April update. It worked across the update but it didn't with any of the previous expansions. It will however be able to get you some nice rep increases with cryptarch and a good few marks and exotic shards...

Not so much a try - hard, just been waiting for this DLC for a long time with not much to do, lol. Looking forward to completing the new story then going on a shopping spree 😊.

6 AntwortenIt does not work. I has not worked in the past and will not this time. I you found the engrams in year two they will decode as year 2 gear. The item is determined when you pick it up not when you turn it in. Many of my clan mates have done this in the past only to be disappointed.

Tl;dr I have a crap ton of engrams waiting I am now stacking them in the postmaster Weapons 8 primary exotic engrams in vault 1 in postmaster 7 special exotic engrams in vault 1 in postmaster 11 heavy exotic engrams in vault 1 in postmaster Armor 17 helmet exotic engrams in vault 10 gauntlet exotic engrams in vault 3 lengendary too 14 chest piece exotic engrams in vault 6 lengendary too 15 leg armor engrams in vault with 3 legendaries
