let me share my tale: i tried trials year one, but even though i got pocket infinity, invective, and sga many times, the thorn bounty just wouldn't drop for me. I would get wrecked in trials because i didn't really understand the game play, didn't play with good people, and did not use the meta. fast forward to year two: i did not attempt trials again until this past march. i started playing, but playing like shit. while posting on a thread on here i found a friendly guy that said he would carry me. that first flawless was amazing. i had tried so hard before that, but never got anywhere. the most valuable part of playing with them was seeing how they'd played. when to push, when to sit back. they carried me, for sure, but i had one amazing playing that clutched it for us, so i was proud of that. i tried again and again after with no luck. i played with a ton of people that had high ELOs, but would just get frustrated at me if they died. that didn't work for me. i need relaxed people to play with. i don't mind people who are telling me to push or whatever, but no ragers. literally, had guys crying about their ELOS and blaming me. then once again i found two players to carry me and boy did they f&*&ing carry me. i played like shit. true carry. they gave me some tips. i put my eyasluna/sniper away and took out my grasp with CB,HLS,grenadier and my party crasher. things started to change. i've been playing a lot better since then. i've been flawless twice (carrying my own weight) since then and i'm really learning how to play. 1. if you're looking to get better, watch streams and see how they push and what their tactics are. 2. play the meta. simple as that. eyasluna is so much fun to use, but i sucked at it. i worked too hard for kills. switch to a hawksaw, grasp, mida. 3. play smart and off your teammates (TEAM SHOOT) 4. use the class you are best with. again, not the one that's the most fun. if you're looking to win then play to win. i'm not that good by any means, but i've raised my kd from a .7 to a 1.05 and elo from 1100 to almost 1400 in a couple months of a seriously trying to constantly go flawless. i probably could've farmed and gotten it even higher, but i'm just always trying to get better, not stuff stats. luckily, i've also run into people who just give me a chance. like today, a couple ukers saw that i was 1.38 for the week and gave me a shot. we just went flawless. i apologize for the sloppy writing/grammar, but i read this thread earlier today, booked it home after work, went flawless, and am now responding. it's doable, guys. i was scrub (maybe still am in most people's eyes) but i've gotten better and freaking love playing trials. i love the adrenaline. it reminds of search and destroy. just keep shooting and stay out of those damn sniper lanes, guardians. tl;dr: got carried twice. learned to play from good players, got better. can go flawless on my own.

yes it's complete bullshit. I haven't played trials in a while and decided to attempt yesterday. 4 out of the 5 games we played, our fireteam had less than a 40% chance of winning. 2 of them were less than 20%. I would not call that SBMM!

I don't consider myself a very good PVP player (less than 1.0 kd). However I started playing trials for the first time about a month ago as I've mainly been a PVE player (done the raids like a thousand times) and never bothered with trials as I knew how difficult it is for the average player. I do find trials enjoyable when we go up against people of my skill level (less than 1100 elo) but it is not as enjoyable when we get slaughtered 5-0 against a team of 1400+. Haven't even gotten past 4 wins on a card yet. Anyways I just mainly do the bounties with pickup LFG groups now and have never gotten past a card with 4 wins. I'm just trying to pick up armor drops from the drops and call it a day. I know that I may never see the lighthouse myself and will just have to live with it as I know that with my skill set (or lack thereof) I'll never see it. I hope bungie is able to evolve trials in rise of iron where it allows more people to enjoy the lighthouse and not just limit it to streamers or top tier PVP players. There should be a balance of some sort. Just my own 2 cents.

Well one your a ps4 player the PVP is a bit more easier there. Second you had connection based match making meaning you could cheese the whole trials run by matching with your friends. And they lay down. So year 2 matchmaking is good in some way maybe not so much on the later games getting matched up with like 1900 Elo when your like 1300. But vsing teams what just passage coin farm etc. is no accomplishment

Trials is one of the worst things Bungie has added to the game. Trials is toxic.

It's so hard but man the adrenaline I get when playing it is pretty intense to the point I like it , I love it , I want some more of it. Don't get me wrong definitely needs some tweaks like no heavy round maybe even no radar. But it's definitely the ultimate challenge. I've never been flawless most times I get utterly destroyed but I'm gonna keep trying until I get to see my character in that cut scene landing on Mercury.

Yep, 7-0 three times this weekend, every friggin time, a team with 2 red bars and 320-something.. like they obviously aren't cheating and carrying that person.. I am a top 1% crucible player, and I have never been flawless.. BS.

Trials brings out the camp in everyone.
