Tuonela SR4, Cocytus SR4, arminius-D, zerenaea-D, Monte Carlo, Zhalo Supercell, Hawkmoon, Eyasluna, Grasp of Malok, a well rolled hung jury SR4, the first curse, PDX-45, Hawksaw, doctrine of passing, soulstealer's claw, Lord High Fixer, Haakon's Hatchet, Colavance's Duty, Lethe Noblesse, Hand of Judgement (when explosive rounds isn't the middle perk....), the last extremity, plus some of the good blues that do exist.
I have seen ALL OF these weapons in the crucible, and used the ones I had/have.
Primaries are REALLY good right now.
You're complaining about how to take out a rushing shotgunner, so here's an idea. Pick a weapon type you really like.
For me, it's basically anything. I love scouts and hand cannons, but I've been using scouts a lot lately.
Next, pick up any hakke sidearm.
So... JabberHakke, the new monarchy one, havoc pigeon, or the iron wreath.
Pick the rate of fire (indicated by the rounds per mag. I prefer fast firing, and that's indicated by the higher mag size).
Now, stay out of crowded hallways, or places with too many entry points and own the map.
I use MIDA because I enjoy using it, but tuonela is BADASS, and cocytus is awesome on long range maps.
You never have to camp, and you can take down people at LITERALLY all ranges.
Snipers can't handle it because you're putting so much pressure on their perch that they can't really get a good shot, and shotgun babies can't get close enough all the time.
You can talk all the shit you want, but ANY nerfs right now will upset the balance.
You're right, primaries are underused, but if you have real gun skill, you can do a lot with them.

Mida or Pulse Rifle paired with a sidearm is my favorite load out

I agree with this...primaries are more diverse than they've ever been, the secondary weapon thing while still relied a little too heavy on by some are not really as big of an issue as they used to be
-
I think it's relied upon because people don't like actual gun skill. They'd rather one-bang for an entire game, which is why people are using invective again. To me, I'd rather be able to defend myself at every range. It's just sad, really.

I very recently discovered the beauty in high impact scouts and shotgun or sidearm for close range protection on sniper maps. So much fun!
-
I like sidearms. They're less punishing than shotguns are, and they fit nicely with really any primary.
-
Yeah I'm shut with shotguns. Think I've had one game where they've actually worked out for me. Unfortunately I suck with sidearms too. Any recommendations? I've got Ironwreath, NM sidearm and jabberhäkke, all rolled pretty good.
-
I use Jabberhakke. The key to them honestly is that you need to just manage the recoil. Like pulses rifles or fusions, depending on your ability to control recoil, aim for the chest and let the recoil carry up. Also, it depends on how you are with handcannons. If you're food with the fast rate of fire, with a little practice, you'll be golden. It just requires practice, really. I don't use shotguns because it's TOO easy for me. I pick one up and I'm at the top of the leader board.

I'm good with all primaries, snipers and fusions. It's just shotguns and sidearms, and I don't like the way shotguns force me to play. I'll do some patrol and practice sidearms I guess :)
-
That should help you out a little bit! (: I hope this helps.

That's your best bet, honestly. They add a really fun concept to your play style. Unless you're running a sword or a rocket launcher, you don't have anything that can one hit, but you can be just as aggressive with a sidearm with the same success, or you can use them in really clutch moments.

Thanks bud, I'll check it out! Tried out the ironwreath today and it was nice but somehow I always got them to 1hp and then someone stole the kill haha. Will continue the experimentation.

Best of luck to ya!
