Part 2: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/210866329
Looking in and standing far to the outside of both groups, to me, both of these new and relatively recent creations of theirs are nothing more than an element and an attempt to bolster both of their popularities; just another tool in their arsenals to incite attacks if you will.
To those of you still reading, I do not know about you, but that is how I see it. I also see both sides laden with vast amounts of hypocrisy. I have watched and read their many posts, both accusing the other of what they attempt to secretly do themselves and that is indeed poor. Their group supporters seem to operate on the exact same itinerary.
Everyone wonders why Bungie never pays attention really to their own forums and focuses their attention over at reddit and twitter. Did anyone ever think that perhaps the communication problem originates from right in here? Have these forums become so polarized and vindictive that Bungie already knows they do not have to focus here, that the infighting is so great that the development teams know that no real resistance or applauding of their decisions, both good or bad will ever truly materialize?
I know that is a bitter pill for all of us to have to sit and face. It is something that is really easy to want to deny as even a partial truth. I certainly have contributed to it with some salty postings in the past when I played Destiny, out of frustration with Bungie. Looking back I am not proud of those. I guess would ignore this place too and focus my effort in other areas seeing if I was a developer. Yes, I know full well that does not give Bungie a pass or even provide an excuse for their lack of communication in the early days, but it certainly does now. We were already in the minority here in terms of numeric playerbase representation for Destiny, so the developers would be inclined to ignore us simply based off of that tenet alone. I cannot help but believe we actually assisted in extinguishing our own feedback fires.
In conclusion, I’m sure some of you will wonder what I am still doing here if I am so dismayed at the state of the forums and Destiny and also since I do not play the game anymore. Well, the reason I stayed here was because of the people. It was interesting for me to stop in and read people’s new feedback takes on Destiny and where they felt it should go. It was even interesting for me to keep abreast of Destiny’s issues after I left as I was curious to see what Bungie would do with it. I was intrigued at the direction the game took and how different things had become from the first year. Perhaps I was and still am subconsciously hoping and desiring for just some semblance of the game I originally saw back in 2012 and 2013. I was willing to overlook the salt and ignore the troll posts.
Even after their big schism (which now seems like a distant memory) I still enjoyed reading, seeing, and replying to the ideas of the two who were at one time the biggest driving force and voice this forum had, even bigger than DeeJ. I both frequently and infrequently talked with supporters of both those sides in here as well those two and enjoyed doing so. I do not any longer. I have watched them stoop to levels I never thought they would lower themselves to and several have mystified me greatly on different occasions with their actions and writing. People I once regarded as those with supreme writing skills and provided feedback with distinction, how low they have gone. Then again, I do not know them in person, but only through this electronic box, so maybe I always had them figured wrong. Guess that would be egg on my face now wouldn’t it?
It was my hope that perhaps people in here, given enough time, would be able to put aside those differences and past events, and stop using these forums as a platform of solely increasing popularity and a hatchet wagon; instead of choosing to unify as a gaming community in order to assist in ensuring that what remains of Destiny along with the future Destiny 2 which would be great for gamers of all different walks. I no longer see that ever coming to fruition. All I see is two large communities of gamers and their founders, who harbor such a resentment for each other’s groups and beliefs that it has become all they focus on any longer, whether they know it or not; forgetting what they originally once stood for and how they used to interact with others.
That my friends, is what I regard as the most disheartening issue in here.

To those of you who never changed your stripes this whole time, props to you as it is well deserved, particularly given this type of environment and what has transpired. You know who you are.

1 AntwortenAlthough at first I had liked this post, I now realize that I was wrong. You have given way too much credit to the dispute between the players you speak of as made evident by players who responded to your post who have no clue who it was you were referring to in this post. And by the lack of overall responses to this post. And as others have pointed out in their responses, they may side with someone on one issue then totally disagree with that same person on another, because they draw from their own experience and insight when making decisions of where they may stand on any particular issue. Also by making this post you have drawn undue attention to the very issue you say bothers you. Yet calling out those players in a public forum is straight up WEAK! If the actions of those players truly bothered you to the point where you felt you needed to say something, then private message those players and directly address the issue. One last point, is that no matter what kind of immature discussion or name calling is happening between players in a post, it in NO way excuses Bungie's lack of communication. I have seen many a well worded and insightful post get totally ignored by any and all of Bungie. In fact I believe it's their lack of communication that directly has lead to much of the poison that existed in these forums.

17 AntwortenBearbeitet von CarnivalLaw: 8/12/2016 8:55:14 PMUntil I (or anyone else) can praise Bungie (where deserved) without being attacked on a personal level, nothing will change. Until I can use my hard-earned money to buy Rise of Iron without being attacked on a personal level, nothing will change. I respect your decision not to buy future Destiny products. I ask that you either respect my decision to continue to play Destiny, or, at least try to avoid personal insults simply because I made a different choice on how to spend my money. Coexisting here would be easy if we follow these suggestions. Edit: Outstanding posts. Thank you. The one thing I completely disagree with is the idea that either of the two you reference are in it for the popularity.

2 AntwortenYou put a lot of effort and thought into these posts. I appreciate that, and it has definitely given me some insight into what I've observed in my short time here. I'm very new to these forums, essentially a non-entity in the grand scheme of bungie.net. I can't really say why I'm even responding to this, other than I feel the need to. Maybe it's to offer the perspective of a fairly new person that is looking to understand how this community got to where it is. I don't have a stake in anything other than seeing Destiny be a successful game, and seeing these forums be a successful gaming community. The potential for both is there. In the short time I've participated on these forums, I've tried to be as helpful as I can, and as non-confrontational as possible. That latter is not easy, given how quickly almost any discussion can devolve into insults and derision, and I have not always been successful in avoiding those pitfalls. I'm definitely going to try harder in that regard. While I don't specifically know who you reference in your posts (I don't want to), I definitely see distinct schisms in the community represented on these forums. I know you specifically mention feedback, but the divisions seem to travel throughout all the forum sections that I read. I'm honestly baffled by the level of derision and sometimes seeming outright hatred people express for various groups, and even just individuals that have a different opinion. The level of blatant disregard and dislike between PvP and PvE, between people who pre-order and people who don't, between those that love Destiny blindly and those that hate it with a passion, between Hunter / Titan / Warlock is palpable and visceral, and honestly disturbing. I play mostly PvE, although I've been venturing more and more into PvP. I have no reason to dislike anyone who plays mostly PvP, and doesn't play PvE. Unfortunately, what I see is that those who play either portion of the game exclusively see the other side as entirely unimportant, as a burden on the game, as something akin to traitors. "The other side is why the game is broken, they make Bungie nerf everything" is not a valid reason, because it's not true. We are all a part of this community, and we should all be able to acknowledge differing playstyles without seeing them as an affront to nature. I started as a Warlock, and I have characters for each class now. My Titan is level 40 with all sublcasses maxed, and I'm slowly working on my Hunter. I'm all for friendly banter between classes, the give and take that will always occur in a game situation, but the level of "banter" that I often see is nowhere near friendly. Argue reasonably against someone's suggestion, don't attack them just because they play a certain class. It's honestly one of the dumbest things I've encountered on the Internet. I pre-ordered RoI. It was my decision, and I'm happy about it. I have well over 500 hours of enjoyable playing time from my $60 purchase in November, and I feel that the $30 will more than pay for itself. That's why I pre-ordered, simply based on the fact (yes, this is a fact) that Bungie delivered a game to me that has provided more hours of enjoyment than nearly any other game I've ever played. Now, if that is not the case for you (general community, not a specific individual), I don't have a problem with that. If you decide not to purchase RoI, or if you are waiting until it's released, you have your reasons, and I can respect you having a different opinion than me. Please return that courtesy. I'd really like to see this community be a group of individuals that can see each other as human beings, all wanting the same basic things: a great game and a great community to support that game. There are many different paths to both of these goals, and acknowledging that simple truth is something that needs to happen if those goals are going to be achievable. I'm ready and willing to help achieve those goals. For lack of a less cliched rallying cry...Who's with me?

Bearbeitet von Blump: 8/12/2016 9:56:34 PMApparently there is this whole political machine churning in these forums that I didn't even realize existed. Guess I need to get out of the Help forums more often. Seriously though...does any of this really matter at all? It's a video game. I may be naive, but suspect that the vast majority of players don't know anything about any of this, nor would they really care if they did. My guess is the limited number of interested parties are already present and accounts for in this thread. Everyone else just stumbles across threads like this and shakes their head in disbelief. By the way, I preordered RoI the day it was available in the PlayStation store because I enjoy this game. I even bought gift cards for a few folks in my clan that were coming up short after a console upgrade. Some people did not order it because they are not enjoying the game at the moment, nothing wrong with that. Some folks would rather play in the forums than the game itself and there is nothing wrong with that either. Maybe I'm getting old, but I just don't understand what the big issue is. *takes cover*

3 AntwortenBearbeitet von STARKILLER2258: 8/13/2016 3:27:19 PMI'm older, and with everything I do in real life I choose my path and don't give a flying f*ck who is with me or not. I was never a bandwagon dude, I do what I like, not what is popular with the cool kids, because again, I just don't give a shit about them, or their silly factions. As far as this game goes, I give them credit when its deserved, and when they do something slimy I'm going to say so and don't give a shit what side of the fence it falls on. My opinions on this game come from the perspective of gaming for over 35 years and beating probably somewhere around 400 games in my life. I see things these days that wouldn't fly 20 years ago with games, and I see gamer attitudes these days that would have never existed back then. These days you got keyboard commandos getting into other people's shit on how they are supposed to play. That's crap. Games used to be made so everybody can pretty much get what they want out of a game. If it isn't affecting you stop being a negative entitled douchetool. What I see in the forum is a microcosm of the game bungie created and how they run it. Both shallow and brilliant in some areas, hypocritical in others, and laced with condescension and pettiness throughout.

4 AntwortenBro, just write one post next time. But you're right, there's now factions. Factions are -blam!-ing stupid. You know how people always like to bitch and moan and "streamers" holding undue control? Exact same shit. Incredibly disappointing.

14 AntwortenWell... people asked for faction wars in game and if we can't have em there then BY GOSH we'll make our own here! 😁

3 AntwortenI only got on these forums through Destiny. May you please message me the two people you are alluding to in your posts?

Very well said. Thank you sir. *claps*

17 AntwortenGreat post and it rings true...united we stand...divided we fall...and bungie is banking on the latter. Literally! I'm still holding to my message and hope others too... No Preordering and Boycott. I refuse to give them a free pass and will make them earn my money.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von ironBill: 8/12/2016 11:02:59 AMI'll weigh in on this. I always say in situations like this I'm a pragmatist; having been through it few times let me just say things almost always get to this level when you have groups of people passionate about anything. Look at the US political system right now and you have a mirror image of what you describe. I think you go too far when you you say both are concerned only for their own popularity. I think you go too far when you assert they are just creating vehicles to draw more attention to themselves. That's oversimplification, and for someone who writes as clearly and eloquently as you have in three rather large posts, it's beneath you. You are laying the toxicity of this forum on two people. Yes, you are. Emphatically I say that's not true. There are many contributors to that state of affairs, not the least of which is Bungie themselves, DeeJ in particular. It's like watching a Trump rally; he would go out of his way to make comments in an environment that was sure to piss people off. I never understood why, and to this day still don't. But that isn't the point. Both people to whom you allude are spearheading activities designed to help people. Whether or not they are successful or ill-informed, they have at their heart a noble effort. Both of them, whether or not they themselves can get along, are attempting to elevate the community. Will it work? I don't know. They both have the energy to try, and for that I will applaud them. Have they been involved in petty spats? Yes. As have I. As have you. As has practically anyone who spends real time on the forums. We are human. Some take it farther than others, hold grudges, and can't let things go. It's true people have lined up behind them and hurl invective into anything one or the other post, but that stuff should just be ignored. What readers should look at is what is accomplished in anyone's attempts at community building. One party is trying to create a better way of communicating clearly with Bungie. One hosts a round table discussion of game related topics on a weekly basis, inviting people of all viewpoints. Will either be successful in their attempts? Who knows? There will always be reason to doubt, to detract, maybe even to mock, but there is no doubt that good comes from both attempts. I reside firmly with and not with both sides. I am an individual who will always compliment someone putting forth an effort to do good no matter with whom they are affiliated (within reason - ISIS day care doesn't get an upvote for me). I'm not getting swept up in the squabbles between acolytes as you put it. I will defend good where I see it, plain and simple.

Hey can you turn this series of posts into a series of short lore videos on you tube please. I will like and subscribe!

3 AntwortenI hope all those who, oh so offensively, set themselves up as martyrs here see this as a wake up call. You as individuals with agendas are not important. The lame podcast you hope will get featured in the community focus is not important. The convoluted councils are not important. What is important is holding Bungie accountable to the players. Holding their feet to the fire and demanding a better and complete product for the prices they charge. Do you know how to do that? You do that by not pre ordering a product you know nothing about from a team that lies as easily as they breath. Make them earn your money. Keep your nerfs, keep your councils, keep your podcasts, keep your community communication; give me accountability.
-
20 AntwortenThere will always be opposition to any thing. What one person likes the other may not. It how the world works. In the end it's bungie's game. It's there choice what to do. But I think bungie looks a lot closer than people think. They know they can't say much with out giving undue credit to one side or the other. It's funny how if any bungie worker comments on a post it's used to both con-dim them and well as say "bungie supports this". Just witch ever is more useable at the moment.
