No class is.
There are no "tanks" in destiny.
Every class takes the same amount of punishment, and in some cases the differences are miniscule.
The only form of "tanking" in this game may be a radiant skin warlock or an armor of light bubble Titan, but those are supers and are temporary.
"But Titans are tanks! They can max out their armor!"
And? It barely makes a difference.
In the Crucible, do you engage Titans differently because of their high armor? No. You're going to deal with them the same way you would any other class, because when it comes to HP, the classes are virtually the same.
The reason for this post comes from the complaints of Titan Skating. In which people are saying "Tanks shouldn't be the fastest."
Newsflash. They aren't tanks.

8 AntwortenTitans could qualify as pve tanks before cauterize was nerfed, essentially gave you infinite health regen thanks the the perk that regenerates your melee on a kill
but bungie gave it a 5 second cooldown
-
You left of the part that tanks sacrifice dps for the extra survivability as well. They also usually have a mechanic to make taking them out a priority, such as taunts or shields to protect others.
-
They also sacrificeNOTHING to be the fastest class so they spec for armor and recovery negating all point for the agility stat and there is a reason why they ban max armor in sweats.

Bearbeitet von House_Of_Ninjas: 8/1/2016 5:22:12 PMWhat about their juggernaut perk? That seem pretty tank-y. And yes, I do engage them differently since they typically are charging at me intending to use a shotgun/shoulder charge/ whatever else melee range ultra attack they have.

Thank you

1 AntwortenThey're freight trains.

Titan skating was NEVER an intended mechanic. This from bungie⬆.

Does make a difference in competitive play.

1 AntwortenTanks can do more than just pull aggro and take more hits than other players. Sometimes tanks can disrupt enemy action. Take zarya from overwatch for example. She has 400 up and half of it is shield. She has no armor which means all damage taken is going to do full damage. She doesn't necessarily take more hits than others. Instead she projects barriers to prevent either herself or a teammate from taking damage to a threshold or for a time. Also as the barriers take damage zarya's gun gets stronger. She disrupts by keeping others alive where they normally wouldn't and also while the barrier is up the only counter is "don't shoot". Now look at defender. Drop a bubble and the only way to get rid of it is either super it back or kill the defender which can prove difficult. Also the defender can suppress your super with a grenade and also the bubble can provide buffs for teammates. Titans aren't traditional tanks but they are a sort of tank. One that disrupts enemy actions.

Actually that little bit of armor can make a difference. Sure, not game breaking but it can affect gameplay.

3 AntwortenSo wait, you're saying that Titans aren't the tanks because they have Titan skating? Okay I'm confused now and I'm a Titan.
-
Destiny will never have any set Tanks, mages, healers, etc.. All the classes have almost the same amount of hitpoints.

Come on people! How many times do I have to tell you to stop giving Cole the keyboard!

2 AntwortenI ate a tripmine grenade today

Titans don't have treads. Nor do they have a giant cannon. Therefore, they can't be a tank. It's all a mental thing.

Biased post. Disregarded.

I had a sniper with weapons of light. I took down hunters and warlocks with a simple body shot but not Titans. I can only take down Titans with low armor or a high really high impact sniper(with a 1 body shot).

Juggernaut?

Bearbeitet von CozmicClockwork: 8/1/2016 3:23:13 PMI'm just gonna say that titans used the argument that they're supposed to be tanks to warrent keeping the large armor increase from sunbreaker.
honestly I want the armor agility and recovery stats to make more of a difference in crucible because really the only stat you can really see the effects of is armor and its when you spec fornit a whole lot on titans and ramlocks but you still only survive a shoulder charge or pre-patch gg with a sliver of health.
+1 I believe in the beginning Bungie wanted to outline all classes but they gave up. All classes are the same, DPS there is no tank/buffer/de-buffer/cc and on and on. The most important factor when you chose a class in this game is the jumping, you like double jump go Hunter, Glide/floating go Warlock and a better version of Glide Titan jetpack. Everything else is pretty much non factor.
-
Nonsense! You slap a set of tracks to my Striker boots and I'll shrug off a rocket before I Fist of Havoc your ass to kingdom come! If that's not tanky, what is?!?

1 AntwortenI don't really have a warlock(storage locker character-level 3) but i've HEARD that is the "tank" class. Idk, this is the first online shooter i've played since 2003 or so, whenever halo 2 was out. Man, the pvp in that game was so fn perfect. I just wish Bungie would put stock loadouts in pvp, forget all this useless nerfing and let pve be fun as hell once again. Pvp can't complain if they all have the same guns. It'd be more fun i think.

4 AntwortenBack when titans hammers were nasty, almost every Titan said they are suppose to be the tanks

16 AntwortenBearbeitet von Why So Searious: 8/1/2016 1:56:37 PMWhen uou can survive things that would kill other classes, you are the tank class in my opinion. Whether or not titans are the tank class though, they should not be the fastest class. Edit: That link kinda proves you wrong btw
