No class is.
There are no "tanks" in destiny.
Every class takes the same amount of punishment, and in some cases the differences are miniscule.
The only form of "tanking" in this game may be a radiant skin warlock or an armor of light bubble Titan, but those are supers and are temporary.
"But Titans are tanks! They can max out their armor!"
And? It barely makes a difference.
In the Crucible, do you engage Titans differently because of their high armor? No. You're going to deal with them the same way you would any other class, because when it comes to HP, the classes are virtually the same.
The reason for this post comes from the complaints of Titan Skating. In which people are saying "Tanks shouldn't be the fastest."
Newsflash. They aren't tanks.

1 AntwortenThankfully there are no tanks in the same way there are no healers in Destiny. That would just make raids a lot more rigid and repetitive. Destiny doesn't have that classic trinity where 1 tank holds aggro + 1 healer takes care of the tanker (and some DPSs at random) + everyone else DPSing. Titans, as well other classes, may mitigate damage in their own way but that's it. There's no taunt ability nor specific guardian that has extra health/shield. The closest thing to a tanker/healer combo in one guardian, but still far to be taken as a classic tank example, is the Aegis shield holder.

Then explain why it looks like a devil walker. Thats a tank!
-
I'm going to agree with the majority here with a carrot to this though. With the right set up titans can tank. Which is how most in game tanks are achieved through specific set ups. Titans aren't tanks just because they are titans. Only when you spec your titan specifically can it tank.

2 AntwortenDefender Titans mitigate damage through shields, buff allies' damage against enemies, and provide resources (orbs) to the fireteam to help reduce the enemy pressure (aggro) in an encounter. Sunbreakers have melting point to buff ally damage and Sunspots for crowd control. Strikers have the ability to blind enemies, cutting off aggro entirely in a radius for a brief moment. Sounds like a tank to me... All subclasses can provide some form of support, but Titans arguably do it best with their Defender subclass. As its name implies, it is a tank by definition.

5 AntwortenThe only tank in this game worth talking about is a Defender Titan with No Backup Plans and a shotgun.
-
6 AntwortenMy titans usually the fastest guardian on the battlefield so it's definitely farrrrr from tanking anything. Armor is negligible in this game. I don't get why everyone makes a huge deal out of it. Am I missing something? I'm honestly asking because I'd like to know.
-
Play the tanks in overwatch and you'll see the difference. Except there is one similarity, Reinhart can reach the fastest speed of the entire cast, sound familiar?
-
Bearbeitet von : ^ ): 8/1/2016 6:53:48 PMThere is no holy trinity in Destiny, not even in lore. I've spent a year trying to tell people that Titans aren't the classic "tanks" we think of. And honestly in terms of survivability, Warlocks make better tanks than Titans. Warlocks used to be able to hold the most armour in the game. They used to be able to survive a GG shot if done right.

5 AntwortenIt seems that you failed to mention force barrier and or juggernaut.

3 AntwortenBearbeitet von OTAKU_4_LIFE_907: 8/1/2016 3:12:58 PMK so titans shouldn't be the fastest. Thats reserved for hunters, idc if my hunters running speed is faster then a titans running speed because when titans can skate it negates that whole point. How about we buff hunters armor to that of a titan ( no more shotgun+melee to bladedancers) since most of u guys who play as titans only want it to be the fastest agile class in the game. Skate+ twilight + shoulder makes titans agile as hell haha i would know i play all 3 thou i will admit i will miss the skating but something has to give, bungie cant keep nerfing blink but leave titan skating where its at

Bearbeitet von Jack_actual: 8/1/2016 6:47:55 PMThis post is beyond idiotic OF COURSE TITANS ARE TANKS. Wether they are good tanks is debatable but they ARE TANKS. Seriously wtf? Titans are tanks or are gunslingers who HAVE LITERALLY NO DAMAGE TANKING OR HEALTH REGEN ABILITIES AT ALL the same as titans who ALL HAVE HEALTH REGEN AND DAMAGE TANKING ABILITIES.
-
Juggernaut striker can tank a sniper shot to the head.
-
6 AntwortenPeople who think Titans are tank tanks, probably think this is an MMORPG too
-
7 AntwortenThe problem is that they really should be. We need differentiation between the classes so as to emphasize their strengths/weaknesses. But if you are going to try to make every character feel generic and less different from the others, then the differences in armor, agility, recovery, and abilities also need to be whittled down, which is what Bungie seems to be doing. I guess they just wanted to make another Halo game afterall!
-
I thought they were giant like human monsters tha.... wait wrong titan. Aren't they massive planes we can load carg.... Oh not that one either? A superhero team that are teens? Dang it. Giant mecha-suits? I'll get it right eventually.

Bearbeitet von iDovahBear: 8/1/2016 6:02:15 PMWhat's funny is, unless you rig the only testing to be a straight-up sprint, Titans aren't truly the fastest, at least not dynamically. You're dedicated to that headlong rush unless you simply decide to drop early, there is no juking the hardscoper who already has you lined up, or evading that Shotgun you accidentally decided to bumrush. Once you're in the middle of that jump, you are susceptible to being counterplayed. Hunters might have a minor speed disadvantage in the long sprint (which is why most run Eao,) but their base mobility and dynamic jump make dodging 1HKO Supers and Shotgun rushes more than possible. In fact it's kind of frustrating as a Titan to have someone jump into me when I FoH, but still somehow make it out in time JUST because of Eao+Control/Height? But you don't see me making a Forum post about it. I think people are just upset about their personal class nerfs, and since Titans didn't get touched, they're all looking at us expectantly and prying at the strengths of our subclass. Expectable behavior, mostly.

1 Antwortenwarlock with Max armor, radiant skin, the ram, and solar armor is s true tank
-
5 AntwortenSo there's no tanks in Destiny? What about those rusted big metal things that have two treads and a cannon in the Cosmodrone? What are they? Tanks. So you're wrong
-
1 AntwortenTHANK YOU! That joke of an excuse to nerf Titans which is "Titan are tanks + they are the fastest, op please nerf hur dur!" drives me crazy! When the armor stat is maxed you take maybe 1 or 2 extra bullets from the highest RoF guns like DoP, this really doest make you a tank, Titans are faaaar from being tanks. The only tankiness that the Titan has is the Ward of Dawn which is a super and makes the whole fireteam a tank regardless of the class. This game simply doesnt follow the classic rpg rule of the classes like the healer, tank, dps,... So no Titans are not tanks, they are...wel...Titans...
-
All subclasses are balanced except for 2. Defenders and Sunsingers they need a buff.
-
newsflash titans are TANKS
-
Bearbeitet von BERSEKAEL: 8/1/2016 6:10:57 PMTry warlock void subclass+ram+embrace the void+red dead... You can tank and regen your health for ever while killing
-
2 AntwortenGTFO you 2 Titan playing warlock lvl 19 defending your crutch max armor is a big difference then a max armor hunter
-
Bearbeitet von destinyfuture: 8/1/2016 6:08:54 PMyou obviously haven't played any 335 titans in Trials / Iron Banner with max armor, huge difference ! takes lots of bullets to bring them down and you have to put lots of distance between you / your opponent, of course shotgun / sniper will bring them down the same as other classes but those require skills
-
8 AntwortenTitans could qualify as pve tanks before cauterize was nerfed, essentially gave you infinite health regen thanks the the perk that regenerates your melee on a kill
but bungie gave it a 5 second cooldown
