That is to say, Destiny is the most sophisticated and ambitious FPS PVP ever developed.
I look at COD and Halo as glorified games of tag. They're fun as hell but most guns are usable and Everyone pretty much has the same character. Kills come easier, etc.
Destiny makes you work for kills. The time to kill is just long enough to give you an ulcer.
Between the classes, sub classes, weapons rolls, armor builds and skill tree preference, a player can be radically different from their opponent. It's a very rich and dynamic experience.
Not to mention the fascinating science that goes into the way the guns perform. The guns feel alive. They have personalities. We're attached to them. We love them as much as our own children.
This isn't a diatribe of my musings on the topic of the crucible. I'm just giving some credit where it's due.
We're pretty damn lucky to have Destiny at all. Not to mention that the crucible is the best PVP ever.
ALL THAT SAID. I'm fully aware of the red bar curse. The infamous and and favorite Tefty topic: the dreaded net code. I am fully aware that the lack of dedicated servers greatly hinders the potential of what is already a fantastic game. I get that there's always an OP weapon, subclass or ability.
I'M INTIMATELY AWARE OF THE NEGATIVES OF THE PVP EXPERIENCE.
But all of that crap mentioned above will someday be remedied and put in the past forever.
That's not the hard part. Creating what we now have, this utterly sophisticated, game changing evolution of the multiplayer experience was the hard part. Conceiving it and building it was the mountain Bungie had to climb. But they did it. They delivered far more than just a glimpse at the future of FPS PVP. They almost nailed it on the first try.
So why do we complain so much about PVP? Wouldn't it be worse to see all of the ways the game design could be improved? To be totally disappointed by what could have been?
I think so. I'm content because dedicated servers, a polished net code and 60 fps are on the way. This game will someday play like Jimi Hendrix did the guitar.
We need to remember that. We need to remember that Destiny is already Jimi Hendrix. He just needs to refine his style a bit. It's like, 22 year old Jimi.
That's such a far better position to be in than if Destiny was nowhere close to being Jimi and was more like the guy from Nickelback. You can't fix nickelback. You can fix 22 year old Jimi Because the law of inevitability says that 22 year old Jimi will someday become the legendary Jimi.
So be grateful Bungie's on the path of inevitable greatness and maybe complain less about the same issues that they too despise and are hell bent on correcting.

Destiny pve is the best, smoothest shooter ever created. But the pvp is toxic. Also, detox is the most advanced rap album ever.

Well said sir. I LOVE this game, it seems like some of the tit bags bitching about everything that's "wrong" with Destiny don't deserve what is right. And there is a shit ton of right! Stop and take a look into the sky the next time you're out and about guardians, it is freaking beautiful!

Thank you for realizing everything that Bungie has created, everything they have tried to do, and everything that they will do, and seeing the mistakes and living with them. Instead of being ignorant and jumping from game to game, you stayed and lived in the world. I rarely see anyone else do this and it's a sight to behold when it's done.

I deeply agree. Destiny is perhaps one if not THE most advance fps pvp multiplayer game ever made simply because everybody can build different set ups to run in the crucible that been said like in any other game there are flaws such as mainstream weapons, red bars and so on. But its still fun to compete.

Bearbeitet von DSharp018: 7/31/2016 6:37:29 AMAre you sure we are playing the same game? All I see is a lack of foresight in design. I mean, it's not like elemental primaries wouldn't be the go to for end game level PvE in the nightfalls where more enemies have elemental shields that are resistant to other elements. But, bungie made the original nightfalls like that and elemental primaries were very much desired. Remember that line from deej back in dec. '14 about how "the last thing we wanted was for you to look at your favorite items and decide that they had become obsolete"? Well, it's half way though 2016 now and a lot of favored items from places like the vault of glass and crota's end are more obsolete than ever before. Granted, they could turn around next week and announce infusion or y2 versions of that stuff or some other option and for a lot of people all would be forgiven in the matter, but that wouldn't be my issue with it. My issue would be that bungie left the player base in the dark about it for over 9 months on the matter just to suddenly do a thing whenever the player base looks a little thin. I could go on in the matter like on how the vex mythoclast absolutely destroyed in pvp due to a lack of play testing beforehand, or how the black hammer was a legendary special weapon that could outdps any exotic heavy weapon, or how ghost shells and class items changed from purely cosmetic to items that now affect your level.

I agree. They dont get it all right but they are doing really really well

I couldn't have said it better myself. I completely agree with everything you've said. There is a brighter to all the issues that this game has. Everyone has that one has that sticks with them. And this one is mine, and masseffect lol. Are there better all around games? Sure. But none of them have the gun play and feel that destiny has. COD and halo are very good games but their gun play is to stiff for me. Destiny's gun play is something unlike any other. What they've accomplished in that aspect is art. If they can fix the issues and add the nessicery elements to make this a better all around experience. This game would be untouchable. Most likely we'd have to wait for D2 to come out. But I feel it would be worth the wait.
