For the better part of two years, basically everything you read in the forums is a complaint followed by a nerf this, buff that...
Some of those gripes were/are legitimate, most just from people struggling to adapt to the current build of the game.
As the title states, I tested alpha, tested beta, played y1, got bored, and have been back intermittently since.
I've recently dusted off my warlock and started grinding in anticipation of RoI.
My observations are that the game is in a state of near balance, more so now than ever before.
The one critique I do have of pvp is not a nerf or buff of abilities or weapons but rather map design.
The current maps are designed in a way that allows certain build to dominate by favoring cqc over ranged engagements.
I would love to see Bungie open some of the maps back up like y1 mare cognitum/rusted lands.
What do you guys think?

I've always emphasized that it's the maps. No one cares to listen. Then again, it's easier to complain about guns.

1 AntwortenSnipers rifles in pvp are misplaced. U have the potential to one hit kill with every bullet..at range or not. Like it or not sniper rifles are a overused heavy weapon that is being abused in this game. It's misplacement has caused all sorts of problems with special ammo over the years. Ice breaker taught us that a one shot ranged weapon with too much ammo can cause real problems in pvp. A precision weapon should have little to no aim assist, even in a video game. Cmon a one shot long range precision weapon should be the hardest weapon to use in pvp. Give the great aim assist to the pve side of the game. Handling and swapping weapons is way too fast in pvp. Body damage is greatly rewarded instead of punished. Quick and predictable recovery while taking critical damage while aiming down sights. Retical returns to the same spot after descope and changing weapons. Ability to one shot heavily armored players out of their supers..rockets don't even one shot armored supers unless it's the same burn as the super being used. Sniper rifle use in pvp has directly attributed to the loss of a lot of players both good and not so good. Even some of the best snipers admit that sniper rifles need a lot of work.

remove the part where it says alpha tester and whatnot and people will actually talk about what this post is about otherwise theyre just going to call you out for it.

Sup guys alpha beta super day 0/1 sepreme legend to the max tester here
Alpha tester, day 1 player... You're not special in any way lul
4 AntwortenWhat part of being an Alpha tester was relevant to the main point of this post?

2 AntwortenRusted lands is pretty much every other game and that moon map was boring as hell.

Symmetrical maps are the way to go
-
Just make 1 map..................... 20x20 and all 12 spawn in with zero cover.

More open maps traditionally cause even more hate. Imagine the sniper use at that point and the complaints that will ensue. Did a good deal of level design myself and honestly more closed maps are just a more solid design. I've made both, and my smaller more compact levels always played better and had more love. Plus the larger maps are way more difficult to design.

3 AntwortenWhy are there so any snipers then? Seems to go against your argument. The last thing I want personally, is maps that are more sniper friendly.
-
4 AntwortenI think there should be more walls. Walls everywhere. Rooms no larger than 20 sq. ft so snipers retire. :)

2 AntwortenThe crucible is far from balance, defender, sunsinger, and gunslinger are all low tier classes. Most auto rifles are usless. Snipers and shotguns are still primaries of choice since all primaries suck Vanilla crucible was one of the best balanced eras, all they needed to do was tone down the suros regime and vex, then buff pulses

Post like these are null and void unless we have access to see your characters. If you have snipers equipped to all your toons, it diminishes your stance since you ask for a more sniper friendly game. Stats speak. Opinions are just that... opinions. Currently I believe that there is no consistent way to deal with snipers, especially in a 3v3 setting. The radar shows snipers which way they are being flanked, long before a player can close the distance against them. Thus allowing a sniper to hard scope which direction they are coming from. As for 6v6 there are too many enemies running around for snipers to be as effective due to the radar being lit up like a Christmas tree. They can't reliably tell what is the most dangerous at any specific moment.

Maps have to be bigger

Alpha? I thought this was the Alpha game!

I think this is a well constructed positive post that I agree with.
